For the 6th graders, in the beginning of the school year will take a little photographer class and take pictures around the school. Later a student's best picture will be around the school for the rest of the school year. This school has a music program called sound minds. This program teaches you how to play a cello or a violin. When you get better they will take you on a field trip to play with other orchestras. You might even be able to see the California symphony have a rehearsal. What I'm trying to say is just that this is a great school to go to.

However, at Riverside, the teachers (instead of doing their job to create lesson plans, which is what they were supposed to be doing) choose to monitor the prep teacher and curriculum. What I've observed at Riverside is that the teachers lack classroom management skills, and instead, yell and intimidate. They are not teachers. They are bullies. They bully students and teach bullying as a role model. I actually saw Ms Hayworth say, "because you are bad, I will not teach." I heard a teacher say to the class, "You embarrass me." Ms Benda also ostracized a boy by making him sit apart from the rest of the class. This student told me "I want to kill myself." When it was reported, the teachers and principal said, 'he just wants attention." Ms Benda said, "I could choke you!" to a teacher who had told her class they would get out early before she had the chance to tell them. If you are a parent, beware of teachers Benda, Wong, and Hayworth. If your child has one of these for a teacher, you may want to sit in or help out to see how they function.

My twin daughter's attended this school from Kindergarten to sixth grade. The teaching styles are…read moredifferent with each instructor, which is how it should be but having them on the same page will support the mission and goals of being a Tara Hills Family. The transition from homework is not transparent with the parents, which is a minor fix. There are some bullying issues here from teachers (I've experienced this with one of my daughter's teacher) which does not allow the parent to feel comfortable having conversations of set role and expectations because of the thought of them singling out their child (which happened in this case). Outside of that, the principal (Ms. Salinas) is hands on and allows everyone to be included- I wished there were training for staff to respond this way. Not all teachers here are horrible, I've encountered amazing one during our time here. I've had ups and downs with this school but was able to work through them as family do. I know that it takes both ends to support the kids towards the goals and I'm happy I've chosen to be a Shamrocks SSC, AAPAC member to share my appreciation to the staff that do show up for the kids and express their passion to teach our next generation the things they need in life. In addition to this, activities was a hardship. I would have loved to see more activities like this to encourage students to be active and busy- I did love the jr coach opportunity. I know that times are changing and we will have to adjust, I just hope that the main focus (the kids) remaining strong to keep the mission and goals alive to work together for the better of every student.
