Our guide was well informed and we learned about the many unique German customs families kept in 18th century Washington County. It was a cold day and the house was not warm, but we weren't surprised. We all live in old houses ourselves. They're drafty! This is a gem of a museum right next door to our crown jewel, the Wash. Co. Museum of Fine Arts in the City Park.

Spacious parking area, not paved or marked spots but I would guess 30 cars or so would fit comfortably? The days we were there we only saw about 10-15. The trail itself is well packed dirt/gravel and even with a few wet areas along the way it is easy for most bikes, other than a pure road bike.

Ms. Linda, the Executive Director of the historical society, gave my classmates and I a tour of the house and it was amazing (and a workout). If you're looking for a place with a lot of Civil War history, this is it! Stop by in Hagerstown and check this place out, then find an awesome place to eat down the street! These wings were no joke, I did the buffalo wild wings inferno challenge twice without milk, it took 3 cups of milk to get through 5 of the 8 and I tapped out. The thing is, they aren't JUST insanely hot, they are also INSANELY flavorful. Hotheads eat your heart out, order these and you will not be disappointed. These 100% need to be a challenge. 8 in 10 minutes, no milk? The wings at Buffalo wild wings look like they were taken from baby chicks in comparison to what I got. Contact me when they become a challenge, I will gladly make the 1 hour drive to try it out, even if I fail!

I had the pleasure of attending a musical performance at the historic Maryland Theatre recently…read more Renovated in 2019, the lobby of the theater is beautiful with its old fashioned, yet modern charm. The theater itself is very classic and old fashioned with a balcony and box seats on either side of the stage. I've visited this theater since childhood and it's always a treat. I highly recommend visiting for a show if you're in the area.

It's directly off interstate 70, so people traveling through can stop by. There are numerous bathrooms, benches and covered gazebos that public accessible. There is a wide cement paved trail that bicyclists, runners and walkers can share. There are numerous sports fields including football, baseball, softball, soccer and even a beach volleyball area filled with sand! There is a new and large dog park as well. It is divided into two areas depending on the size of your dog. The park is well maintained and clean. Very safe area as well. This park is amazing and I can't speak more highly of it.

One hour before the concert, there was a free (30 minute) presentation where the director of music and the pianist told us about the pieces that we would be hearing so that we could appreciate them more. The Maryland Theater is very beautiful and we looked around during intermission. There didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house! The Maryland Symphony also performs at Antietam National Battlefield usually on the first Saturday in July. I've gone to this for many years and it's always worth thelong walk to the field from parking (a shuttle service is also available). They play lots of patriotic music and always end with the 1812 Overture, Stars and Stripes Forever and fireworks!
