On the hunt for silog and this resto with its open aired setting built into a bamboo style home was immediately appealing. Clean setup with attentive aunties to look after you. They have Western options for breakfast but I feel like that is a requirement everywhere due to demand by tourists.
A silog breakfast here was 180 PHP which comes with coffee/ Nescafe. We already had coffee down the street so the auntie let us substitute with "orange juice" which ended up being more of a soft drink. My ever favorite tapsilog was a sight! The beef tapa helping may have been small but who am I to complain at just 180 PHP? The beef was delicious, clearly marinated well before -- sweet, salty and zesty. You also get two fried eggs/ itlog and the rice was legit garlic fried rice/ sinangag. They even include a side of vinegar dipping sauce/ sawsawan. Missing me some atchara, but minor.
I am not 100% sure if this is Filipino-owned but it is at least managed by Filipinos I feel. Definitely tourist heavy with most diners being foreign. Eat Filipino only when in the Philippines, or bust! read more
