We were craving seafood for dinner and found Barakuda which looked fancy and had good reviews. We had a large group and didn't plan ahead for reservations, so they told us there was a 2 hour wait to be seated when we arrived. We ended up going elsewhere for a "pre-dinner" and swung by afterwards once our table was ready. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with our experience.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: When this came out, the texture and consistency looked off so I ended up not trying it because I was worried about getting sick from it, so I can't speak for the flavor. But a few friends did try it and they mentioned it tasted off as well.
GRILLED CABBAGE WITH MISO: Always important to get at least one veggie dish so we went with this grilled cabbage dish. Maybe it's our fault we didn't look up a photo first, but we were super disappointed as it wasn't at all what we expected. We thought we would get grilled/charred cabbage leaves coated in a miso glaze. Instead, the leaves weren't separated at all and we just full on got a quarter wedge of a cabbage. Because of this, it was hard to eat, wasn't cooked through very well, and the small amount of miso just sat on the outermost leaf instead of soaking in between the leaves so there was no flavor. It was so sad looking when it came out it almost felt as if we were being pranked.
PULPO ADOBO: This was edible but I didn't think the octopus was anything special. I more so enjoyed this just because of the sauce.
CRAB FAT RAVIOLI: This one was actually pretty good taste-wise. Nice little mouth bombs of crab flavor. What ruined it for me though was that they got a ton of little crab shell shards in it that I kept feeling every time I'd chew and I had to keep spitting them out.
Overall, the place has an upscale vibe but the food was disappointing and didn't match the ambiance. They have pretty high reviews on other platforms and the wait time was so long for our group to get a table, so they must be popular? Not sure if we just happened to come on an off day. The only plus from our visit was that they had AC, so it was a nice break from the heat and humidity. read more
