    The outdoor ceremony space
    Rachel C.

All in all, Willow Ridge was a good venue and I would recommend it to others. I do wish that Gregory were more organized as I think he could have provided us with things like a floor plan and notes on the A/V set-up when we booked instead of making us chase him for those items and could have reduced our stress and mitigated issues we knew could arise. Aspects of the venue need an update, but they are mostly the upstairs areas where guests don't go. PROS - Gorgeous views, outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, indoor reception - All-in-one location for the entire wedding - Good value for the money - Venue is pretty much a blank slate so you can really make your wedding feel unique and yours with minimal decorations - Attentive venue owners CONS: -Multiple weddings in a single day means you have limited set-up and dance-floor time. - Gregory is eccentric, which wasn't an issue for us, but we did hear from other people who had their weddings at Willow Ridge that he gave guests lectures on drinking before the ceremony and other sort of off things. - He's very responsive to emails and calls you remind you about payments and rehearsals, but doesn't always answer the questions you ask and answers questions he thinks you should ask instead. - He wasn't very prepared for our walk-through and wasn't sure if there was a wedding the night before or morning of our wedding, so I had to stay on top of details like that (thankfully, I had asked him in advance of the walk-through and was prepared). - He called a couple of days before our wedding to tell us someone else had a wedding the night before so we couldn't do a rehearsal, which we had known for months and noted at that walk-through so that he would know we were doing the rehearsal elsewhere, which was not a big deal but just a little disorganized and a weird call to get. He is VERY protective of the venue, so no kegs are allowed, decorations have to be minimal, and he or his partner Lawrence are there at every turn telling you what you can and cannot do, which again wasn't an issue for us but does limit what you can do and felt a little oppressive on the day of when they would just be standing there watching you when we were just trying to take photos and enjoy the day. - WRM/Gregory does not have an outdoor sound set-up,although there are outdoor speakers that he had set up when we did our walk-through by the cocktail hour area, so make sure your DJ has the right plugs and cords to ensure your laptop or ipod can plug into their (the DJ's) system for cocktail hour. Despite repeated emails to our DJ and Gregory, this question was never answered and we were just told to relax--and then no one had the cords and we couldn't play our playlist. It ended up raining and we had to move inside so it didn't matter as the DJ was able to just play his own songs, but had that not been the case and he was inside setting up during cocktail hour, our guests would have been outside in the silence because Gregory et all couldn't answer this simple question. - The 1980s Laura Ashley getting-ready rooms and creepy piano room. With some minor updates (new curtains, get rid of that piano and make it a sitting room for older folks who want to talk and sit away from the loud dance floor) this space could be really incredible. I didn't want to take getting ready photos here because it was so tacky. - One bathroom for guests downstairs. - Gregory didn't have a floor plan of the venue in soft copy and had to fax it to us. Like the note on A/V, it wasn't a big deal but it would have been really nice to just get it in an email when we signed the contract (pro tip: all seated and others have an e-copy of the floor plan, as do the preferred caterers).

Our 7/15/18 wedding went flawlessly! Gregory and Lawrence were amazing to work with, and helped our wedding night go smoothly. They are experienced and courteous and pay attention to the finest details. They coordinated with our DJ, caterer, photographers, officiant and cake service. They were well prepared for rain, wiping down chairs and providing umbrellas. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you Gregory and Lawrence!

My daughter had her wedding here yesterday. I cannot overstate how professional and organized Gregory and Lawrence are. Every detail was addressed at the rehearsal and the wedding went on time without a hitch! Their coordination with the caterer, photographer and D.J. was seamless. Organizing this type of event can be very stressful, but Gregory and Lawrence made it very stress free, The venue itself is very beautiful and intimate. I will recommend Willow Ridge to everyone.

Recently, I attended a wedding at Willow Ridge Manor. It was easy to find and beautiful! The ceremony was held on the lower deck with red rock formations in the background. The trellis above the bridge and groom was a perfect frame for their union. After the ceremony, we went to the Manor for the reception. The historic building had old time charm with a lovely staircase. The sitting room had a piano which made for a gorgeous backdrop for photos. The parking lot is shockingly small considering how many guests the facility can hold. Additionally, the spaces are much too narrow for the trucks, vans, and SUVs that many people (particularly in Colorado) drive. As far as the food goes, the hit of this wedding was the bloody mary station. The vodka was unremarkable but the candied bacon was a hit! I can't tell you how many of those I ate! Some of the food didn't look appetizing so I wouldn't eat it - count the deviled eggs that looked less than fresh and the yogurt parfait which I had secretly hoped was panna cotta in this category. The breakfast bar was okay. Aside from the candied bacon, the best tasting dish was the cinnamon roll wedding cake which not only was a great change of pace but soft, sweet, and yummy.

Our daughter was just married there yesterday. We were awed by the beauty of this place. Greg and Lawrence are fantastic hosts. They think of everything, having run Willow Ridge for a couple of decades. Greg runs a tight ship and is such a consummate entertainer. Mention any issues you might have to Lawrence and he gets it taken care of in a hot second even if you're having trouble with your bow tie. Soooo many people complimented us on choosing this venue, (though our daughter and now son-in-law are the ones who discovered it). Can't give it too many stars. Oh, and the dogs, who don't stay around for the actual event unfortunately, are just wonderful.

My husband and I got married at Willow Ridge in January 2017. Let me just say, if you want an extremely organized and friendly venue - look no further! Gregory, the owner, is an absolute dream to work with. He provided us with all the information you could ever need to make venue coordination a breeze. He is extremely knowledgeable about his industry and will go out of his way to answer all of your questions. The venue itself is stunning! It is situated beautifully in the mountains and is very easy to locate from the highway. You can tell they take immaculate care of this beautiful and historic property. Customer service-wise, put your mind at ease and book here. Gregory goes out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of and all the details are squared away! Gregory made sure our day was stress-free so we could enjoy ourselves. Throughout the hustle and bustle of directing guests, he came up to the bride's room and the groom's room to ensure we were comfortable and if we needed anything to eat or drink before we went downstairs to get announced. I have never encountered an owner of a venue so invested in the experience of their guests! Thank you Gregory, and Willow Ridge Manor, for giving my husband and I the wedding of our dreams!

Jeff Fisette and Janelle were fantastic to work with. Jeff is the food and beverage manager and so kind and charismatic and Janelle was our day of coordinator and beyond sweet. Bailey was even accommodating and friendly to work with when she needed to step in. I couldn't do a five-star review because of the event director, Macey. We began working with Savanna, which is a big reason why we booked the venue after meeting with her. I don't know where to begin with Macey. I understand she was newish at the time and maybe even was going through some personal issues. She was not only unresponsive and annoyed that I contacted her more than a couple of times but on top of that very rude to both myself and my family. Countless items that we agreed upon in the beginning of planning did not come through, and we were charged for two items we didn't receive on wedding day. When setting up the room, three hours before the ceremony (we hired a day of coordinator to do this) she told my aunt, "Good luck" and walked away. The cherry on top was when she called me at 0900 the day after our wedding to tell us to come and get the décor items left from the night before. We had previously agreed that we could leave the items there until 1pm. Upon arriving I had asked Macey why this needed to be done right now, her response: "well, I need to use my office don't I". Macey does not care about you or your event, she just wants your payment and quantity trumps quality. I know there are labor shortages but Applewood really does need to hire an event coordinator with at least some experience that kind of likes people or at least pretends to care

Worth it to take the shuttle (mini school bus with a couch and disco balls!) for $15/person to be dropped up at the top of Red Rocks - beats the long line walking up. $25/person pick up - approx 10 min walk but it's all downhill to the party bus and seemed way safer than all the taxi drivers in your face outside of the amphitheater. Brooks is awesome and takes care of you!! We stayed in the Rose Retreat again. It's a small room, but I love the big shower and mini fridge with Brita. The window air conditioning unit kept the place nice and cool with it being 95° outside. Private hot tub and robes in the closet. Breakfast is included. Order at check-in and enjoy the next morning. This isn't a super nice or updated space, but we had everything we needed for our mixed bag of early 30s friends. My friends and I stayed in the Stone St. cottage, which is heavily Grateful Dead/psychedelic/ classic rock themed. The room is listed as sleeping 3, which we did on night one, but easily slept 4 on night 2. The grounds were so charming and eclectic. The cottage we were in was a little wonky and slanted on the floor, but the rooms were clean, the shower worked great and we had more than what we needed. We checked in super late in the darkness so we didn't get to experience a normal front desk check in, which I'm sure would brief us on procedures like pre-ordering breakfast the night before, but the staff was so accommodating when we showed up hungry and ordered bacon, eggs and potatoes in the AM. Mary was the cook and she was rad, quick witted and whipped up a lovely home cooked breakfast. There are 2 dogs (that we met) on site names Shokti (gorg white husky queen) and Mr. Dog (precious, hilarious chihuahua businessman) and we loved to pet and visit with them while in the main lodge. That space is incredible: kitschy, eclectic, trippy and warm, just like our whole stay! I could go on forever about how adult-summer-camp-esque the grounds were! Every cottage is themed, though we only entered ours. The covered hot tub was a crucial touch for our group in the crisp 50 degree weather to take a morning dip and unwind after the show. I'm unsure if all cottages come with hot tubs so definitely confirm if that's something you're interested in. The walkability to all the necessities and some breweries/ eateries was appealing when we had time to kill. Cliff House offers a shuttle to and from Red Rocks for a fixed price per rider. The shuttle to the venue leaves 15 minutes prior to doors which was a little late for us, so we opted to take the shuttle back and it was a highlight of the trip. Brook's organized the shuttle, sent us incredibly detailed instructions on where/ how to find her in a short, yellow school bus. I especially appreciate the details because we had been drinking etc and needed the depth of care taken to make sure we found her! The bus was stocked with beverages and we played music and just bopped down the hill, laughing our butts off. This was such a fun stay for us and it was thanks to the grounds, location, home cooked breakfast and tea in the lodge, Mary, Brooks, Shokti and Mr. Dog. I will recommend to anyone I know traveling that way!
