She said I'd make a great redhead, but that wasn't my goal; she talked me into highlights (some of which begin 1 - 1.5" down the hair shaft) and a glaze. She started applying highlights, but had the receptionist finish them. Marta came over and said she was having someone else cut my hair so she didn't have to rush me color (?). Long story short, I felt rushed and like an annoyance. The glaze is already washing out (had this done 4 days ago), I can't put my hair up now, and the color is not even close to what I really wanted. I'm embarrassingly conflict-avoidant, but I spent over 200 dollars for messy color and a cut that I hate. I wish I had known that I would be passed off between staff and stylists and my hair goals dismissed. I expected more from a premier salon. I haven't let anyone at the salon know I'm unhappy because I don't want anyone there touching my hair again. I can't stop thinking about the money I threw away. I saved for 2 months to be able to get my hair done. Beware.

I told her she could really do anything to my nails, but she still consulted with me about basic things such as color, vibe and shape. I ended up LOVING my nails, a basic nice neutral color with a classy pop of fall fun. She is creative, warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about all things Alchemy. Not just services, but products, color lines, and ingredients! I saw Christine for my massage-- and she's out of this world. She works your muscles very hard if you ask nicely, and will get any kink or incorrect knot out of your back or shoulders in no time. The best service by far though, was my facial from Erin. Her derma-plane skills are the best I've ever seen. My skin came out SUPER soft, zero hairs left. She has great attention to detail and caters every step in the service to you, and your skin. Her custom selected masks are really great, and the cooling mask was my favorite part. She also gives really good hand massages, which are included in the facial! She's skilled, sweet, helpful, and very informative about post-facial steps to take. Overall I give Alchemy 5/5 again and again!

Dana cut my hair for only $18, and it was comparable, if not better, than my usual hairstylist in DC. My girlfriend's cut and color was much more expensive (of course), but she says it's better then what she usually gets in downtown Chicago. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and you'd never be able to tell what's inside, but trust me, this is better then any place in Bloomington for a men's or woman's haircut.

She is amazing, and I love my hair since I have started going to her. The first time I went I had a trim done to "test the waters" so to speak. Debbie was careful and cautious in not to cut too much off. After see the care she took, I was ready to trust her in doing a more daring cut. The second time I went I showed Debbie a picture of what I wanted (which included 11+ inches being cut), and she cut my hair to match the picture. I told her I was starting to panic after having so much of my hair cut off, but she assured me it would be cute. After copying the picture she asked me if I would like some changes to match my face, natural wave of the hair, etc. I put my full trust in her, and she made made my hair look amazing. She definitely knows what she is doing, and charges a very reasonable price. Debbie is open Tuesday - Saturday and can also do manicures and pedicures at her salon. The salon is in a senior's only apartment building, so you have to go through the lobby of the apartment building to get to her salon. All stylists I've seen there really take their time to help you find what works for you and looks good on you. They are happy to discuss time, effort, budget, and other factors that go into your style/color. I've gotten haircuts there, color, styling, and have taken my daughter to get her hair cut. When getting shampooed they give a relaxing head massage and then wrap your hair in a nice hot towel before cutting/coloring. Complimentary bang trimming.
