I told her she could really do anything to my nails, but she still consulted with me about basic things such as color, vibe and shape. I ended up LOVING my nails, a basic nice neutral color with a classy pop of fall fun. She is creative, warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about all things Alchemy. Not just services, but products, color lines, and ingredients! I saw Christine for my massage-- and she's out of this world. She works your muscles very hard if you ask nicely, and will get any kink or incorrect knot out of your back or shoulders in no time. The best service by far though, was my facial from Erin. Her derma-plane skills are the best I've ever seen. My skin came out SUPER soft, zero hairs left. She has great attention to detail and caters every step in the service to you, and your skin. Her custom selected masks are really great, and the cooling mask was my favorite part. She also gives really good hand massages, which are included in the facial! She's skilled, sweet, helpful, and very informative about post-facial steps to take. Overall I give Alchemy 5/5 again and again!

She said I'd make a great redhead, but that wasn't my goal; she talked me into highlights (some of which begin 1 - 1.5" down the hair shaft) and a glaze. She started applying highlights, but had the receptionist finish them. Marta came over and said she was having someone else cut my hair so she didn't have to rush me color (?). Long story short, I felt rushed and like an annoyance. The glaze is already washing out (had this done 4 days ago), I can't put my hair up now, and the color is not even close to what I really wanted. I'm embarrassingly conflict-avoidant, but I spent over 200 dollars for messy color and a cut that I hate. I wish I had known that I would be passed off between staff and stylists and my hair goals dismissed. I expected more from a premier salon. I haven't let anyone at the salon know I'm unhappy because I don't want anyone there touching my hair again. I can't stop thinking about the money I threw away. I saved for 2 months to be able to get my hair done. Beware.

Lucky me. For those…read moreof you who know me, you know that I tend to be known as a rather extreme activist for children's issues. Since 1989, I've traveled thousands of miles in my wheelchair raising awareness and funds for children's organizations and, along the way, I've had the terrific opportunity to encounter some true gems across the country. Davida Cartwright, founder/owner of Wabash Valley Massage in Terre Haute, is one of the true gems. Now, out of full disclosure I'll confess that my initial encounter with Davida has been through one of my wheeling events that I call the Tenderness Tour. In this case, I was wheeling across trails from Terre Haute to Indy and one of my roadies in Terre Haute had arranged for what I expected to be a quick work-up on my tattered and torn shoulders to help me make it through the week-long event. As I was wheeling two particular trails on the day I met Davida, she actually joined us for the first trail, a public event in memory of a local child who'd died from neglect. Following the relatively short trail, she hung out while I handled my PR, press obligations, etc. As she was only working on my shoulders and neck, privacy wasn't really an issue. We sat in the relative quiet beauty of Terre Haute's Collett Park and she began working on my obviously knotted up shoulders. I am not really the touchiest person in the world. As an introvert, a sexual abuse survivor and a person with a fairly pronounced disability, I pretty much keep to myself. I can certainly be fully present with folks, but I'm seldom, if ever, going to initiate touch in any way. I have no idea if Davida had been informed of my background, my gut feeling was that she had been, but I liked that she took a few moments to talk with me before even initiating touch. What I expected to maybe be a few minutes, became what could only be considered a true "session," though admittedly one out in public and certainly qualifying as non-traditional. I was impressed, and rather grateful, that she sort of kept in contact with me with a low-key conversation while listening to my body to figure out where I needed work the most. Over the course of nearly an hour, she kept mindfully working with a full-on presence and gentleness that eased my anxieties and also worked wonders with my shoulders. Not so coincidentally, it would only be two days later that her work really made a difference as I handled some truly difficult trails in Greencastle that led to multiple falls from the wheelchair. While these trails were difficult, Davida had so wonderfully prepared my neck and shoulders that I came through those trails with only mild discomfort. As someone who has also worked within healthcare, you could tell that she was genuinely comfortable with my disability - yes, that should be an obvious but, trust me, it's not. As my health has declined somewhat in recent years, I've been hesitant to return to massage therapy and without even doing so intentionally she sort of put my mind at ease with it all. If you check out the Wabash Valley Massage Therapy website, you'll also see that their rates are remarkably reasonable and two of the three therapists in the office also work with essential oils. Truly, I can't speak highly enough of Davida - not just because of her willingness to help out the Tenderness Tour but because of her genuine professionalism, authentic compassion and skilled massage techniques that went above and beyond in a more unique setting. If you're in the Terre Haute area and seeking massage, I can't imagine you'd find a better option. If I lived closer, I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again and I unequivocally recommend her quite highly.

Make sure to ask the rating of pressure of your massage therapist when booking your appointment…read more This was my first time, I booked a massage for my birthday, and left irritated if anything. I asked for more pressure, didnt change pressure at all, I asked a second time, and was just told that she only does light to medium pressure... so in other words no lol. So that was just irritating, I also put on my intake form to focus little bit more on low back bc I get low back pain and didnt focus on low back at all? Massages here are expensive and should be taken into consideration more that alot of people who come its not often they treat themselves. I was better off going to the massage place at the mall where they do it on the spot, cheaper and respond to less or more pressure, I chose massage envy just bc it was my birthday but was left disappointed for the quality of the massage and the price point. My husband got a massage as well he said it was okay, was not constant, was more on and off. Again, better off going to massage place at the mall. If you do choose to go make sure to ask for therapist with good pressure. Im pretty sensitive and was even sore from my workout and pressure was not there, her pressure rating was a 6. Wish I knew that before.
