I would NOT send you children here. My daughter has attended other week long camps this summer and…read moredid great. However this camp was the complete opposite. On Tuesday she got sick with an ear infection, she told her counselor several times Tuesday and also Wednesday and all she did was get an attitude with her and do nothing but ignore the fact that she was sick . My daughter has chronic ear problems to the point of were she needs hearing aides. Finally on Thursday after her complaining for a third day to her counselor she reluctantly said ok to taking her to the nurse. On Thursday she had seen the nurse and I was in contact with her trying to get her medicine order for an inner ear infection that she suffered with for days before being seen for it. I asked several times and for hours to speak with her and they kept telling me I couldn't. Not realizing that my daughter was also asking for 3days to speak with me. Finally after 3 days and several hours I got a call from her. A male and female called and put us on speaker phone so they could hear everything I was talking about with my daughter even after asking for them to take us of speaker and they pretended they did. I knew something was wrong with the way she was stuttering which is a nervous thing she does. She also started crying and only kept saying she was fine and did nothing want picked up. I came to find out that before calling me my daughter was directed on what to say to me. What she was allowed to talk about and what she was not allowed to talk to me about. The whole phone call she was being told what she was able to say to me. She wanted to come home for she did not feel well but I wasn't allowed to know that. Who has the right to make my daughter feel the way she did and to be scared to not only talk to me but to ask them for help. I would never send her here again and or will never recommend this camp to others. It is a disgrace that my child was treated and felt the way that she did while attending camp and not being able to confine on me enough to go and pick her up. The should be ashamed of themselves.

I have spent 7 summers at Camp Allegheny! It's very fun. They have a fun hiking trail involving…read moreclimbing a small waterfall and going back down a mudslide. They have a large gym, a building in which they keep animals that they rent out for the summer, and archery range, and a chapel ( It's a Christian camp run by the Salvation Army, if you were not aware) They host fun activities every night, including, but not limited to: Campfire, carnival, a "play" based on the life of Jesus put on by the faculty, and the occasional talent show. A few words of warning however, many of the photos are very outdated, they were taken 5-6 years ago, and I doubt that the camp's yelp has been updated since then. They no longer do kayaking as they a removed a dam that used to be downstream a few years ago, making the water faster. Also, I don't know what the title is on about, it's not a day camp, it's a sleep away camp, if you send your child here, you (hopefully) will not see them between Monday and Friday. They host several themed weeks such as STEM week, outdoor adventure weeks, sports week, and music and arts week. Also, it's cheap, only $25 to send your child here for one week. If your interested, and live in Western Pennsylvania, go ahead to your nearest Salvation Army corp and sign your children up to have fun at camp Allegheny! (It's only available for the summer though)

There are so many different options of things they can do. Hiking, fishing, arts and crafts, archery, and so much more. It is very long 7:30am to 5pm and they did come home exhausted but that is never a bad thing for two rambunctious boys. My one son is on the autism spectrum and did very well here. There were no issues at all. There is no signal for if you are to send a child with a phone but there is open communication with a camp counselor for if anything happens either at camp or at home. My husband and I definitely recommend this camp for parents with older children who would be able to handle a full day away. Aside from our vacation, this was the most fun they had all summer!

Everything is kept looking neat, clean & fresh. The center & classrooms are decorated with classroom artwork or candid photos so parents can see what everyone has been up to. I have 2 children in the 4-year old preschool classroom and couldn't be happier. Their teacher is great with the kids and there are always staff members available to help out if the teacher needs a hand. The staff easily stays in touch with each other with walkie talkies. The children's day is tracked electronically for easy communication with parents and management. They are checked in and out of the classrooms each time they move throughout the building for any reason so that no child ever gets forgotten or misplaced. The tadpole application tracks meals, what each child eats, nap times and what competencies they worked on each day. They also have the ability to send individual messages or photos to the parents if their is a particular concern. i.e. - I received pictures via the app on my kids' first day, just to show that they were adjusting and settling in but I also received a notification with picture when my daughter fell off the trike on the playground to show she had an accident but that she was ok. The system also emails parents and phone calls are made if action is necessary, such as if a child is sick and needs to be picked up. My kids are learning so much through play, yet are also given plenty of opportunities to make independent choices each day in a fun & safe environment. My kids are happy to go to "school" each morning but are still happy to see me when I pick them up each evening, it is the best of both worlds. Upon our move to this area, I called and visited many daycare centers before making my selection and I couldn't be happier!
