Marlborough High Street is full of listed buildings, meaning some shops can be a little strange, as…read morethey don't quite fit into their buildings. This bookshop though really works. It's in a gorgeous timber framed building, with lots of books downstairs, and arts and crafts in a couple of rooms upstairs. The downstairs includes a children's area complete with a rocking horse for kids to play on. Upstairs is worth visiting to see the character full rooms, but you also get a nicely chosen range of art materials, plus some finished work for sale. Staff are lovely too. I last visited on a sunny day and they had the door and upstairs windows thrown open, letting in the light and breezes. Lovely.

All the staff are very friendly, and is a bookshop you can browse in without being made to feel uncomfortable. I also love the fact that they have a childrens section with a stool or two, so that there are often kids reading in there as well.
