I took my white gold wedding ring set to Willis Jewelry to get cleaned and Rhodium plated. I have done this one other time (not at Willis Jewelry) since having the ring, and plan on having it done once a year. I went to his store because it was in a convenient location. He charged me $50 because he said it was technically two rings. After getting the ring back, the diamonds looked clean and the white gold looked ok. After only THREE DAYS went by, the ring started to tarnish and look like yellow gold. My ring has NEVER looked like this. I don't know if it was because he didn't know what he was doing, or because he didn't plate it enough. But it looks 10x worse than when I gave it to him. The last time I had this done it has lasted over a year and still looked fine before I wanted to have it done again. Its my understanding that for the well being of the white gold, it should be done at least once a year. And he mentioned to me, "Yea, while I had the Rhodium out, I did my own ring too." Maybe he should start paying more attention to his customer's rings instead of his own and mine wouldn't have turned out like this!!! I was in Carrollton visiting family and I live in California. By the time I realized what was happening to my poor ring, I was already on my way back home. I would never recommend this man to a friend or family member. I was so upset with him but I can't do anything about it now except for warning other people. On a different note, this was my first experience with him: We bought my husbands wedding band from here but nothing had to be done with it so I didn't experience his poor workmanship then. When it was time for my wedding band to be made, we asked this man's quote about a wedding band to fit my engagement ring. He quoted us $300 just to put four diamond holders on the sides of the engagement ring( still would be one ring, not what I wanted). I went to another jeweler on the square in Newnan and they only quoted me $150 to melt down some white gold to make the separate ring and the four diamond holders on it. Now my wedding band is a set and its just what I wanted. Willis Jewelry wanted to charge twice as much for something that was less than HALF the work! This man's prices are too high and his workmanship/cleaning abilities are shitty. I wouldn't trust him again with a ten foot pole! read more
