Jury Duty - overall a smooth experience, they just don't give you enough details/instructions. There's ample free parking, both ground lot and parking garage, just across the street. Get there at least 15min early, cuz you have to go through security and sign in. If you're on a jury panel but don't get picked, then jury duty just lasts a half day. There's a water fountain, but otherwise NO FREE food/drinks, not even coffee. (See pics, there's a coffee machine but you have to buy the inserts from the vending machine.) Each court has a different set of rules (I assume the judge decides.) Bring a jacket (it gets cold inside the courtroom). If you bring a bag, you can keep it with you at your feet during the trial. There's no lockers or refrigerator, so I duno how you'd bring lunch. For english as second language folks- this requires a lot of precise language comprehension. read more

0/10 - customer service sucks. They just stick you in a small room with a bunch of smelly people. Once they do that, a TV is rolled into another room because the judges are too cowardly to actually come in person, and they tell you that you're getting a few weeks in jail for expired tags. The cowardly judge on the TV doesn't listen or ask questions, they just sit all coward like on a TV because they're too afraid to come in person. Then they "decide" something, which again is cowardly, then you sit in jail even longer for no reason whatsoever. I'll give the piggies credit for letting us watch King of the Hill in that weird room with all the airplane seats. read more

My stay was extremely uncomfortable. The front staff was cantankerous and not friendly at all. Checking in was a miserable experience. Parking was a nightmare. It turns out they towed my car to some lot and Pflugerville. The bell boy that led me to my room was mad at me for absolutely no reason. I asked for a king size bed and they gave me a twin. Also there were other people in my room. The Continental breakfast was less than desirable. They said we were having pancakes but it was something that my roommates were calling "SpongeBob". It appears they were trying to pass off two pieces of cornbread on a plate with a side of approximately two teaspoons of a horrible syrup substance. When I asked for locks and bagels or mimosa or at least a light fruit cocktail I was yelled at and told to sit down. By the time I sat down my roommates had eaten my " SpongeBob " and syrup. The food service did not get better during lunch. It was some sort of noodle caboodle. Noodles typically are cooked from 12 to 18 minutes. These noodles had apparently been cooked for two and a half hours. The Good News was that they were serving salad with the noodle mush. It took me a while to identify the dressing. The dressing was there was no dressing . The salad was so old that it had created its own juice. But since there were pieces of carrot in the salad it gave some sort of coloring to it making it a puss- color. The day of my arrival was Thursday. Apparently this was a really great day for everyone because they were serving chicken. Apparently chicken is only served once every other week. The chicken was extremely overcooked and the closer you ate to the bone the greener the color got. However this didn't stop my roommates from holding back some of their chicken for a late evening snack called " spread ". This is where they would cut the chicken up and mix it with ramen noodles Cheetos crackers and spam that they had in their commissary. I was offered some but politely declined. After the dinner we were forced to our bedrooms were we had to take a nap. Apparently this hotel had a shift change at 6:00. There was a game room provided for our entertainment which also doubled as our dining room. The decor was outdated and cold as it was steel benches around a steel picnic table. It was hardly a gay affair as the chess board was missing pieces, the checkers board was missing pieces, and the playing cards were so thin you could clearly see what suit and number the card was if it was held up into the light. While this was happening people were cooking ramen by putting it in a Tupperware container with some water and running it under hot water for about a half hour. At 10:00 we were advised that we had one hour before we had to turn our lights out. This was appalling as there was no light nightlife, no dancing no drinking or any type of fun, especially no women. There was one man there that had hair in different colors who could have passed as a woman. The nightmare went on. Some of my roommates were coming off of heroin and wood lay and moan and dry heave and throw up all night long. Others were completely sprung out on meth and walked around making nonsensical noises all night long. The appalling thing about this hotel is that they never shut the lights out. The next morning we were served unflavored grits cereal and a carton of something that was supposed to be milk. I caught how they skirted around the milk issue when I read the carton that said m a l k. It was a powdered version of milk that was served in a carton. I requested to check out of this hotel on several occasions. The front desk clerk was having trouble communicating with the clerk that was stationed in our bedroom. The guy had an IQ of a 3-year-old baby with down syndrome and a cleft palate. It was the worst 87 days of ever spent in my life. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only thing that was positive about my 80 plus day stay was I lost 35 lb. read more

No one likes going to jury duty but it is a civic duty we all should perform. On Monday, I was summoned and took the drive to Georgetown. I parked only to find there is a free parking garage right across the street from the Court house. Next time I will know better so I walked the two blocks. The jurors are sent to the basement. Big signs so you can't miss it. You have to go through a metal detector. Yes, I set off the alarm because I was wearing a knee brace. The three guards couldn't be nicer. A downward sloping walkway leads to the big room where jurors wait. You turn in your filled in questionnaire at the door. There were about 500 seats that were kinda comfortable. Then the wait for everyone to check in. We are supposed to be there by 9AM and asked to come 15 minutes early. Needless to say 9:20 and people are still coming in. By 9:45, they started even though more were still coming in. Reading the rules of who is exempt, about a dozen left. Then who wasn't qualified to serve, about two dozen left. They announcement the judge who can dismiss people would be there in 5 minutes. Judge was a talkers but she excused another three dozen. She left and the selection began. There were 3 cases on Monday and another 3 on Wednesday so lots were needed. Names were called and told to report to courtroom 1, 2 or 3 that day after lunch. They left after collecting their pay of six dollars. The next bunch were called and told to call the number on the sheet of paper handed out and report on Wednesday. Saw the county clerk who was very polite and helpful with my case. She even recommended free legal help since I'm a military veteran. I hope to get this resolved without going to court. read more

I had to think for a second about how I felt about the Justice Center. Parking was ok, there were restaurants within walking distance, the security was polite and even the Judge in my case was personable and effective. I do have strong feelings about the bunk fender bender case I was involved in but that has nothing to do with the courthouse itself. I'm sure I could find complaint if I tried but for what the legal system is I still found the people I interacted with personable, polite and reasonably effective at what they did. read more

Good luck if you have a case in County Court #4. Not only do they never answer their phone, they don't have an answering machine. Yes you read that correctly. In the year 2012, there is no way to leave a message in the vain hope of receiving a call back. Your only option is to hit the redial button on your phone all day long in the hopes that someone will slip up and accidentally answer the phone for a change. read more

I understand this is a court house, but why must everyone that works here be so rude. From the moment you walk in. If you ask for assistance their answer is to go to a website then they tell you they are not lawyers. I'm not asking for legal advise, but t G ey must be able to answer basic questions, that was the purpose they where hired right??? Tax dollars to waste! read more
