After some research and getting feedback from a friend that is a pediatric dentist in Houston, she highly recommended Alamo Heights Pediatric. After calling, I was able to make an appointment for the next day and the staff I spoke to over the phone was so nice and kind. I am not exaggerating when I say they were SUPER nice. Anyhow, when we got there they had our room ready and they got a polaroid photo for us to keep and remember his first visit to the dentist. We got assigned to Dr. Mikulec and she was amazing. The checkup only took a couple minutes, but I appreciate her taking extra time to make us feel comfortable and answer all of our questions. At the end of the appointment they had a little welcome gift waiting for us, which was a really nice touch.

I work hard to provide for my family, and being blindsided with an outstanding balance six months after their initial treatment was unacceptable. The office never contacted me about the issue, and instead of taking responsibility for their failure to communicate, Rafael claimed it was my responsibility to track insurance claims and balance was no big deal. Rather than him addressing their clear lack of professionalism, he told me it was my responsibility and "find another dentist." Instead of resolving the issue, this dismissive and unprofessional response shows his priority to avoid accountability over ensuring his clients are treated with respect and fairness. Billing transparency and clear communication are basic expectations in any healthcare setting, and this office has failed miserably on both counts. If you value honesty, professionalism, and reliable dental care, I would highly recommend staying FAR AWAY from this place and find a more ethical and client-centered practice. They LOST 2 starts because I am NOT happy with the billing issues I'm having with them. Either they aren't billing the insurance properly or they are over billing the parents for procedures they were given estimates to weeks PRIOR to the actual appointment (that never mention the procedures they hill for). I received a bill for $409 for both a previous procedure done months ago (that I had no idea of) and a recent bill for procedures I was not told about in the estimate - because they ENSURED my step-daughters insurance would pay for it. Now they are billing me for $409, for procedures I wasn't aware she ever had the first time AND procedures no one ever mentioned in the second appt. Not to mention the bill shouldn't even be under my name - it's listed in their charts that their father receives ALL bills!
