That goes to say they go a long way to making your kid feel comfortable and safe, and you feeling confident and sure that you brought them to the right place. If you have seen the dentist from Little Shop of Horrors, this place is totally opposite. They have tech that I'd not seen in a dentist office that make sure your kid is not only not scared about going to the dentist, but actually excited. If you are a parent to a neurodivergent kiddo please be cautious of this place. I filled out paperwork and verbally told the lady cleaning my son's teeth that she needed to explain what was happening to him and she would not. Instead she scared him and made him cry while telling him not to cry and that he was ok. He was clearly not ok and she just continued without any sympathy for how he was feeling. We were bulldozed from the beginning of the appointment to the end. We were scheduled and expected to pay $2000 for dental work and no one stopped to ask if we even had the funds for this. They just put us on an appointment list for a month away. When I asked questions about billing I was told that I could call their other location for answers. Absolutely will not be returning. My young daughter needed a filling. She tried the gas mask first.... It didn't work. She tried the shots and the drink, it didn't work. Doc recommended GA. I already put around $600 into this. I was told the money I put into would be applied to the cost of the surgery. We waited 5 months to even get an appointment. This time around, I got off work, have everything ready to go, and was told I was on "standby". I didn't find out i wasn't scheduled until the day of, because I called and said, "assuming since I didn't hear anything, we are not scheduled?" Finally I get scheduled again, over a month later. I get a call from the hospital stating the appointment was going to cost me $1880. I called Sunshine and asked them to apply that money I had already paid toward this giant hospital bill and they told me NO that money would be applied to any dental work done by the doctors. They are horrible with communication, customer service, and the techs are not that great either! Such BS. After this GA appointment, we will not be back. read more

This was such a disappointment. First off, we had to wait one hour to be seen. Why make an appt? We raced there to arrive on a timely manner and then have to sit and wait for such a long time. This was with two children and one with special needs. I came here due to them advertising for special needs, but when we were finally called back after an HOUR of waiting, they did not have a good bedside manner indicative for a special needs child. Perhaps they didn't read the chart and info I put in, but then what's the point? They spoke to my daughter in a developmentally inappropriate way and then seemed to get frustrated that she wasn't able to comply with their requests. I finally just walked out!! I will cancel all remaining appts and never return. To disrespect my time this way and then disrespect my daughter? I can go elsewhere. There are lots of options for pediatric dentistry and orthodontic services. They have so many good reviews, which I quickly found out why. I was offered free electric toothbrushes for my children if I wrote a positive review and then provided proof to them that I left the review. No wonder my experience and the reviews do not align. They don't see you on a timely manner according to your appt and they don't know how to work with children with special needs. No thanks! read more

I have dental coverage but the places that are in network are not good. I don't mind paying out of pocket for my children's routine dental needs if the care is good. Sunshine Pediatric Dentistry has very reasonable out of pocket rates AND the staff is awesome. I've been taking my 3 year old here since she was a year old and now I'm also taking my 10 month old son. All of the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The dentists are all very patient and gentle, they really know how to connect with the kids in a way that makes the experience less scary. For kids, going to the dentist can be a traumatizing experience. Let's face it, going to the dentist is never fun. At Sunshine Pediatric Dentistry they make the experience so much easier. I really appreciate the gentle yet thorough care that they provide. The interior of the building is very kid friendly. Prior to Covid, the lobby was a fun area for the kids. It's blocked off but you can still see the fun slide and the giant teeth with the ginormous toothbrush that the kids used to play with. These days they have us wait in the comfort of our vehicle until it's our turn as a Covid safety precaution. At least they have the TV screens at each patient chair, having a kids movie on definitely takes the edge off and gives the little ones something to take their mind off of what is being done. It's cute how they give a little token after the visit that can be used at their little surprise egg dispenser on the way out. I highly recommend Sunshine Pediatric Dentistry for the little ones. This office is great! From the moment you walk in, you are welcomed by the receptionist. The waiting room has Disney movies playing, stacks of books, a toy box, and a giant set of teeth that kids can practice brushing. The wait time is never long and then you and your child are ushered into a bright and friendly exam area. The dental hygenists and Dentists are super friendly, gentle, and knowledgeable. They do everything they can to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, from giving the kids sunglasses to wear during the exam that they can keep, movies playing on tvs mounted on the ceiling, letting them choose a popsicle on their way out to combat the aftertaste of certain procedures, to giving them tokens to put into a prize machine for a special toy. My kids and I have been thoroughly impressed and will continue to sing their praises! read more

The worst service received by the administration area, very unprofessional, they only care about money. They used to give a great service but lately they are getting worse. My son was scheduled for two extractions today. Arriving at the office the receptionist tells me with a lack of education to wait outside without saying please or thank you. I took my son out of school and he was very nervous and stressed, at the last minute they tell me that the insurance does not cover the payment. On 09/08 they told me that the payment would be zero and gave me the plan written. For them with their unprofessionalism it is very simple to reschedule, forgetting or not caring about everything we failed to do in order to be on time for the appointment. They made us wait while they did their job of investigating with the insurance, wasting my time and putting more stress on the moment. I know that someone has to pay for the service received, if I have to pay, I will pay of course! but they should give the patient advance notice and not make them wait while they do their job. I recommend this place but the administration is not doing good. read more

My daughter gets nervous when we enter any doctors office but this time there no nerves. The office is super fun for kiddos! Lots of activities for the kids to keep their mind off of them seeing the dentists. When it was our turn her nerves came back and the assistant was AMAZING! She was very calm and explained everything that was going to happen before she did it which made my daughter feel at ease. The dentist was kind, listened to all concerns and I just felt like she cared. All the staff is outstanding and incredibly nice. Overall our visit was amazing. It was odd when one of the doctors referred me out to the dentistry school for a extraction when we already had insurance . Perhaps they just didn't want to do the extraction. I moved in the area and was trying to locate a place close to home. Unfortunately I can not recommend it for ortho. Since day one of having my daughter's braces on things have never been right with them at her appts for them. From brackets coming loose right after they are put on, to not being able to get seen to fix it until her nxt adjustment which is 6 wks frm the day she just went. You would think they would squeeze you in to get it back on right away since it wasn't placed on properly on their end to begin with. The wait is a bit crazy, it just delays everything. Waiting times mostly have been just about 30 min for us each time. Appt times have yet to be when scheduled. Very friendly staff, great facility but the service....idk. for me appt times are a big deal because we are a busy family and I get that things happen, but to have it happen to us every time just sucks. read more

Once you get to the back it's "smooth sailing" and both dental hygienists my son had were super kid friendly and very natural about it. The dentist herself was a natural with my son. Whats changed? There seems to have been quite a changeover in staff. My daughter has been miserable from a tooth ache and we have called three days in a row for an appointment. They told us that there system was down and they couldn't book appointments. What? We are mot talking about routine cleanings or checkups we have an emergency. The front office personnel has always been so courteous and helpful. This office always accommodates us by taking all of my children on the same day. We had a previous bad experience with a pediatric dentist so I am naturally very weary and guarded. Essentially, my son had a dental emergency and even given the circumstances his dentist said he was booked until October. We didn't want to wait so I began my search for pediatric dentists in the area. My sons school is in 78209 although we live in 78245 but I figure if it's close to his school, it'd be convenient for me in one way or another. From the get go, the staff was pleasant on the phone and very willing to help. The facility is nice, new and clean, and very cute! The dental hygienist was awesome with my son. He was so distracted by the sunglasses they provide during the cleaning, the shows they play from the television on the ceiling and also the fact that he had brownie flavored tooth paste. He was quickly trusting of her and let her do her job. The dentist, Dr. Handa came to visit and she was also informative and sweet. We talked over the plan and although the quote is larger than what our previous dentist gave, I'm willing to pay the extra amount knowing my son is in good hands. My daughter is currently and orthodontic patient here. From today's experience I will be seeking orthodontic care else where. From long wait times almost every visit. To chaos in the office. The country is in a pandemic and with as many bodies this place fills into the building you would never tell. Certainly there is no social distancing here. From the very start of her treatment it has been one horrible experience after the other. If your child needs pediatric care this is a great place for it. If you are seeking orthodontic care save your hard earned money, time and comfort of your child and go else where. Every time my child has had and orthodontic appointment it's a wire poking or not cut properly, to brackets constantly falling off, and don't even get me started on your wait time just to be seen anywhere from 45 minutes to and hour past your appointment time. Then when your child is actually in the chair your rushed from start to finish. It's pure negligence. Since beginning her orthodontic care she has had three different orthodontist see her they come and go as quick as they want to get you in and out. My daughter has seen the assistant by the name of Brianna many times. Every time she is seen by her there is some kind of mistake where we often have to return because of pure negligence and rushing. We are always left feeling as if no one really knows what's going on in this office. Where do I begin. The dental hygienist had on attire that was way too small for her. Meaning you could see her belly hanging out as she was cleaning my child's teeth. Well she said she was cleaning my child's teeth. The cleaning was absolutely pathetic, on both the hygienist and the dentist part. The hygienist immediately went to brushing his teeth and then flossing them. When questioned about his plaque buildup she said he had minimal, but she never did anything to cleanse the plaque buildup . Then one of her colleagues walk by and informed me that the dentist does the cleaning of the plaque . However, when the dentist walked over she did absolutely nothing besides look at my son's mouth put on some fluoride and suggest her professional opinions. Well after that he was done . What I saw today was something I could have done at home for my son and saved myself the cost. And let's not forget the dentist attire, however I am professional and the dentist attire seemed as if she was just having a casual day out shopping. Nothing showed she was dentist nor did her attitude or professionalism. Let alone did her skills which were very poor . read more
