I have never tasted apples like the ones this local independent and trust worthy shop has to offer, and there is always locally grown seasonal produce. Matthew always makes the effort to find fresh produce that has been grown within 50 miles of his shop and labels them for all his customers to see. An added bonus is if there is something particular you are after, all you have to do is ask and the next day you have the best quality of it! There is a free delivery service if you cant carry your 10lb of spuds and carrots etc home with you or if you cant get to the shop at all which is fab for the older generation. If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! Even the halva section appears to be never ending! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter. As Susan mentions, Abu Bakar is aimed at the Aisian community, but for anyone like me with boringly British culinary habits it is a fascinating and exciting place of endless possibilities and obscure and intriguing ingredients.

Of all the greengrocers I have seen, I have never once comented on a beautiful display. Normally, it comes part and parcel of having a fruit and veg shop, and the produce is just stacked up, without having had much thought put into it. Neil's however is the exception. With carrots fanned out and everything looking perfect in its place, thought has evidentally gone int every inch of the stall, and quite frankly it is the most tempting fruit and veg stall I have ever seen! Fantastic. Prices are competitive, but not a patch on what you'd pay elsewhere.

With red and green seedless grapes at 69p per lb, a sack of potatoes to feed the masses at £3.95, 8 clementines at 99p and even blooming duck eggs, for crying out loud, at 29p what could be more exciting and reasonably priced than R K Harris and the boys? I think my only option is going to be to check out if my local Headingley branch sells duck eggs, and start looking up some recipes. Yey!

But as soon as we parked up, we walked over to the pig sty and I instantly fell in love with the little pigs wandering around with their parents in their little den. Then we went into the massive store area and there are unreal amounts of fish in here. If you are a massive fan of tropical fish then this is the place you should go. It is clean, presentable and well organised. They also have reptiles such as snakes and mini-dragons and if you have never had a pet like this before, there are loads of staff around to help you out. Also they have a large range of books to help you raise certain species. Originally this was a farm that sold food produce. Now it has expanded beyond recognition. They still have food stock such as meat, eggs and juices etc. Also they have a cafe inside so if you want a cup of tea or a scone, then you can here. What I really enjoyed though about this place is that if you pay a pound each you can through into the stables and feed the pets in there. They have goats, llamas, sheep and bulls. I was a bit unsure at first but as soon as I started feeding them, I just fell in love with them all instantly. They were so cute trying to jump over the fences and lick your hands. This farm is really clean and extremely well run. I enjoyed the time we spent here, it was fun and exciting. I would recommend this twice over. Go and have fun!

Went to Cockfields Farm 3rd December 2011 to top up my tank with some new additions, as we were…read morelooking at the tanks , we noticed a DEAD fish floating on the top, so I informed a member of staff who joked that it was asleep and they always went pale and lifeless and floated when they were resting !!!! I thought this comment was inappropriate and not called for... we continued our now short visit by seeing another two tanks containing DEAD fish, I find this unacceptable and will not be going back there again. as there are many better fish shops with more pleasant staff within the Oldham area.

They are a proper fruit and veg place with the stacks of goodies out front to lure you in and a huge array of produce inside under bright, but a nice glowing type lighting. They sell all kinds of English vegetables and fruits plus a few more exotic types to boost your vitamin C intake. I was really pleased to find it whilst walking through the cold, and feeling in need of some nutrients. I purchased a bag of about 15 apples for £1 and eyed up the flowers loads while I paid. I don't have anyone to buy flowers for, and by the time the lovely girl at the counter had processed my purchase I still hadn't justified buying flowers for myself and walked out. Silly girl. I should have done! They would have looked lovely in a nice vase. Next time I will. When I called up today to check their opening times I spoke to a very lovely guy with the thickest Leeds accent ever who said "Seven over five love" Lovely lovely lovely! If you are in that area and are in need of some yummy juicy goods, packed with nutrients and minerals then pop in for a chat and a bag of deliciousness. They are open every day!

It offers a pretty impressive selection of fresh fruit and veg, some of which is local, and all of which is more appealing than that which is on offer just up the road in Morrisons. It will probably cost you more per item than the supermarket, but for those people who like to feel, admire and choose their own groceries, this is a small price to pay.

Aldi is a national supermarket, which is expanding in the recession. The store has been on the site for about 4 years now. I have to admit Aldi are my favourite supermarket at the moment as they are so much cheaper than the other three big supermarkets in Selby. Recently awarded with the Retail Industry Award 2008 and The Grocer Gold Award, Aldi has grown in strength throughout the credit-crunch. I would say one of their best buys is the top 6 items of fresh fruit and vegetables each week for 49p! There is everything you would expect in an average supermarket but own brand and at cheaper prices. Aldi have great offers/special buys on non-food items from televisions to books and computers.
