A walk through the WR Gardens delight the eyes, tickles the nose & nurtures the soul. It's worth the trip to take this walk. May 2020

The impacts of COVID-19 are settling in as we prepare to greet August. We are each looking to find ways to connect with others in memorable moments peculiarized by physically distancing, mask wearing, side eye glares towards people coughing, and fast-paced awkward walks "away." These new normals will forever enshroud our memories of this remarkable year. During times like these, a (free) walk through Will Rogers Gardens allows the soul to remember that beauty is still all around us if we take the time to look. Spring walks in May through the WR Gardens are second to none. It's a treasure of bright blooms, sweet smells, & fabulous flora abound. Some of my most favorite memories of the gardens include the lavender lined trails, mystical fairy houses, and the cactus garden. I also really enjoyed walking through the daylily garden. My fellow garden goers and I had some good laughs over the some of the silly daylily names. I was bummed we were too late to see the azaleas in bloom, I'll have to remember to go back earlier next spring to see them. An amazing feature of this local gem of a spot is the large pond (with fountain) at the heart of the park. It's great to walk around. So even if you go at a time of year when the blooms aren't abound, you can enjoy a peaceful walk around the water. There were several projects in the works. It's a well-loved and seemingly well-funded community space. I can't believe it took me so long to find this community treasure. I'll be back soon as walks through WR Gardens is a COVID-19 family friendly adventure. July 2020

The gardens are beautiful with great walking paths. You walk Amons flowers and flowers abs flowers. There's even an entire section for irises. It's so peaceful to walk along the flowers. There's benches throughout, in case you want to rest or stop and smell the roses (ic didn't see this though). There are ducks and geese in a big pond. It was awesome to see the parents and the babies. When we got to close the parents yelled at the babies to hurry up.

I finally got my deposit back. I can say again, this was the first time I had ever had an issue with this place. I still recommend it because it's very affordable but I have to share my issues as a be aware.

The greenhouse was closed when we went, but we spent hours just walking around the paths and sitting in the grass.

Only reviewing the waterpark since that's all we saw…read more The park was nice, appeared to be clean. The kids loved the lazy river and the water slides. They even used the diving board a few times. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The downside of our visit was the three young adult girls wearing g-strings and walking around small children. My youngest was horrified that he could see their "tushies". There's a place for such things but it's not in a children's area. It's indecent and I was surprised they were allowed in. I mean.... you have to wear shoes to enter other establishments... you should have to wear some kind of bum covering in the presence of children. IMO.

This is the 3rd year my children have taken swimming lessons…read more This time their instructor has been odd. My daughter is 9 and tall for her age. The instructor threw an object out for the kids to dive and retrieve. My daughter cannot swim yet and is building her confidence. When she threw out my daughter's object, my daughter tried but couldn't get it. She said the water was right up to her chin and needed help. The instructor wouldn't help her, although she had helped all the other children with this task. My daughter tried to move the object with her foot to get it into a little shallower water and was reprimanded. In the end she didn't pass the skill. When she came back to the parent area she was in tears. I did not confront the instructor. I mean, she is about 16 years old. We had an issue like this the 1st year when the instructor lacked patience. That year we left after the 1st day and didn't return. I have emailed the Station before but never get any response back. If your child is not already confident in the water, then lessons her might not be appropriate for your child.
