A whole Victorian street in the shopping heart of Leeds enclosed by a wonderfully modern glass covering. OK, so the shops are all designer, the ones everyone loves to look in, sometimes go in to have a look at just how much some people are prepared to pay for t-shirt....but boy the designers have designed a perfect place for designers to come sell their designer bits 'n bobs. little bubbling fountains, coffee and bagel huts for that quick pit stop and belly filler. I sat in here for about an hour, just sipping my cheap filter coffee and commoner's bacon and egg bagel getting a good view of how the other half live. I didn't mind, I was content, in such a place I find it hard to believe anyone could feel otherwise.

In all seriousness, The Victoria Quarter is the opulent home to some of the more high end brands of the Leeds shopping arena, and with it comes certain prestige in being housed here. The little independent stores like the French Revolution and Rose & Co gain a little kudos in being located here, as that is the effect the Victoria Quarter has on a business here. It is really rather easy to get lost in the annals of the walkways, be it through gawping at all the lovely shopping enticements, or be it from the identical high vaulted ceilings and archways criss crossing across one another, identical fountains, and sympathetic shop signage so that it doesn't interfer with the original features and feel of the Victorian decor. Depending on which entrance you take you will find fountains tinkling delicately, or small tables with coffee service, or even a small but assuredly delicious pattisserie. Benches are also dotted around and if you take the time to perch, and knock your head back you'll see the bizarre yet beautiful glass decoration. A worthy attraction all on it's own.

At first glance, it looks a bit like a cross between Superdrug & Poundland. But once you actually have a good look round, you discover that they actually do sell bargains for the home! They sell branded cosmetics and toiletries, food and drink (including alcohol!), toys (some real bargains to be had there), stationery, cards, bedding, basic DIY stuff and general house clutter. I got some floating shelves (same as Ikea LACK) for £3.99 each the other week, a BHS mirror that had been £60 for a tenner, and they often have Cadbury's chocolate for 10p a bar. Lovely store, helpful staff, clean and spacious. Trolleys available but you need a quid! They take cards and give free carrier bagswhat more could you want?!

It's a reasonably-sized shopping centre, which is partly under cover and geared towards stores which offer predominantly discounted goods (though the shops are somewhat more upmarket than Poundstretcher et al). There is plenty of car parking, but public transport options are slightly limited due to the out-of-town location. Facilities are very good and the overall impression is of a well-run centre that is not overwhelming in terms of size. There is a varied mix of stores, with a bias towards clothes and gift shops. Overall, an excellent place to head for if shopping for a birthday or Christmas, though perhaps not quite large enough for a full-on Saturday shopping session!

When doing research at places I know pretty well and do go and spend time at, I thought I have to…read morewrite my review for 'House of Fraser' I can't speak for anyone else about this one, but I really love it, their have been some changes over the years to the store, some good, some not so good, but all in all, it's your typical department store where you can go, you can enjoy looking around, their is a Caffe Nero there that is very good and though out the departments, a wide range of fashion, home, furniture and food..etc.. You name it. The staff are very friendly and pleasant, always on hand to help. I myself am saving up for Xmas (coming to quick) and they have some great ideas for presents too. My advice, save up a bit, put some money aside and go and treat yourself from time to time. At 'House of Fraser' their is something there for everyone!

Next one down there is Adams, ELC, O2 Shop, 3 Shop, Vodafone, and a few other shops and on the bottom there is New Look, Primark, Sweet shop, Superdrug and a few other little shops They dont have the best of shops in there but it is handy to go in sometimes if its raining or you need a couple of shops instead of trapsing across the high st to different ends of town to get to the other shops of the same company in the city centre. It is a nice clean spacious shopping centre.

Although there have been many empty units in the center for some time, It has recently seen more shops open in the center. There is a large security team for such a small center who seem to think that they are gods and do nothing other than stand in the enterance flirting with ladies. Primark, ELC, Top shop, New look, 3, O2, la senza, bay, clintons and the gift company are just a few of the shops in here. The center itself is bright and clean, nicely decorated. I did notice they had their christmas decorations up far too long. The enterance from the high street can be very slippy when wet. Having almost fallen on my bum several times I know this from experience.

And I wasn't disappointed: although it is a really small store, and very cramped (especially once we turned up with a pushchair), they seem to have a really good range of shoes. The staff were really excellent, they genuinely seemed interested in getting the right shoes for my son (although they did manage to sell the dearest ones!) and took a lot of time to make sure they were the correct fit. For a 4yr old, this sort of attention is great, especially over something like shoes that they can be a bit funny about. I'd highly recommend this particular branch of Clarks for kids shoes, mainly because they seem to be so intent on actually providing good customer service rather than just passing the time until the end of their shift which you seem to find in so many other stores.
