I really like having a look around Westgate - it's one of very few upmarket stores in Scunthorpe, and one of the few places that you can find good quality brands. It's a proper 'department' store, like House of Fraser or Debenhams, except more local and a bit smaller. It's therefore not the cheapest by any means, but you can find things there that you'd struggle to find elsewhere in the town. I found some Thomas the tank engine toys in here that I hadn't been able to get anywhere else, and also a really nice Radley bag in the sale that was half price, so it definitely gets the thumbs up from me. read more

small department store selling the usual suspects. Various make up and cosmetic stands, several different clothes areas, including Wallis and Oasis. Cafe on the top floor as well as toy department, white goods and furniture. It is not a massive store so they do not have the stock of the larger department stores, however what they do stock is good quality and at a decent price. read more

Absolutely disgusted with the way I was spoken to and treated today by a member of staff in the scunthorpe westgate store, I came into the store to use the toilet, I entered the lift and along followed 3 people, I wasn't with these people but I new them from school, the lift stopped on floor 1 and a lady from the store stood there demanding me and these 3 boys to get out the lift, this was quiet embarrassing enough as it was the way she handled this in front of other customers I felt intimidated , I asked why me she said Wev had complaints from down stairs of people running around and causing trouble bearing in mind I didn't enter the store with these lads i come straight in and went to the lift, when I explained I wasn't with them and I need to go to the toilet due to women problems, she didn't care she told me I had to go with her I explained the situation I had to her she laughed and told me I was acting like a child mouthing off which I wasn't I more embarrassed then anything begging her to let me use the facilities, we got to the down stairs desk and they said they thought it could of been the two lads, the down stairs people at the desks said it was boys causing trouble, I'm a female so God knows why she made me go to the bottom floor, what makes this worse is I complain to a male manager about how his employer spoke to me, he wasn't there when all this happened and he stood by his co-worker not realising how she treated me in front of other customers was embarrassing and also intimidating, telling me he was there when all this happened but he wasn't there at all cause I would of called him along to deal with the situation, I'm absolutely disgusted in how I was treated today and certainly will not be going back to scunthorpe west gate and what is more disgusting then anything is the way the manager tried dealing with it at one point him and his worker was even laughing about this, never been so upset and furious in my life :( Unless you have a lot of money and look the piece I wouldn't recommend any one to use this store, I lost a family member early hours this morning and I needed to go shopping so to be honest I didn't look to nice hair chucked up and because of how I looked I was name tagged along with these boys ... so thankyou very much westgate and hope your proud of how you have treated me i am a customer who uses this shop weekly and won't no longer read more
