Zero stars. In 2024, my husband had cataract surgery with Dr. Mark Siegel, and it turned into a…read morenightmare. The surgery took far longer than expected, something clearly went wrong, and yet nobody ever explained what actually happened. Afterward, my husband repeatedly complained of discomfort in his right eye, but we were told everything was "excellent." It wasn't. On Thanksgiving Eve his eye became red, painful, and tearing. In the afternoon we called the office, we spoke with multiple staff members, including doctor Donna, but instead of asking us to come in right away, we were casually told to use prednisone drops and "call on Monday." That meant waiting four long days. I now understand that we should have gone to the office immediately because every minute counted in that situation. However, we were not invited, and we did not grasp how serious it was. This cost us valuable time as the deterioration progressed rapidly over the next few hours. By evening, my husband's vision was collapsing, and we had to rush to the hospital. By then the damage was severe: at that time he had lost his vision and almost lost an eye due to an infection. The retina specialist told us that this was not a casual infection, but one that could been introduced during the operation. The office later washed their hands of responsibility, saying they were only "front eye" specialists and that "back eye" problems weren't their concern. And, of course, they are protected by lawyers and our signatures on documents. To top it off, when we requested husband's medical records, the office delayed for weeks. When they finally sent them, his file contained another patient's private medical information. I understand that mistake happens. However, this practice has shown a shocking lack of professionalism. They don't really care. I strongly urge others to think twice before putting their vision in these hands.

My last review of Dr. Leung was in Oct. 2009. My opinion hasn't changed a bit from then till now. I…read moresaw Dr. Johnny Leung yesterday, and he is STILL the VERY BEST eye dr. and I hope he is at this practice for MANY years to come! I can't imagine going anywhere else now that I've had the BEST! My husband has to come with me each time, (for his appt too), since I'm so afraid of going to the eye dr. He mentioned afterward, on the way home, that, and I quote, "Thankfully Dr. Leung is still young so will be there awhile!" I couldn't agree more! Why do I like this eye dr. so much? He is patient, and that is saying something for someone like me who is scared to death of the eye dr. I don't know where this comes from, but the why is beside the point. He is so patient with me, takes time to explain about my eyes and shows the pictures they took of my eyes. He did the same for my husband. He lets us stay in the same room during our eye exams and that helps to calm me. Now for the staff...they are all exceptional! Friendly, answers any questions, and are patient when looking for frames when I can't decide which ones I would look best in. (Neither of us needed frames yesterday at our appt. but from past experience know this to be true). You don't feel rushed here, and everyone makes you feel like you are the ONLY patient they have! THAT...is EXCEPTIONAL patient care in my humble opinion! Thanks Dr. Leung and staff!!

I can't believe I haven't already written a review for this place because it is amazeballs!!!! I…read morehave already recommended them to my mom and she loves Dr. Johnny as well. I told her that I learned more in one visit (for my son, not even an appt for myself) then I have learned in many years seeing other eye doctors. dr. Johnny absolutely takes time to explain everything to you about your eyes. I have been seeing another eye doctor and paying out of pocket for a reevaluation every year. Dr. Johnny said that that diagnosis/solution (prism) RARELY EVER CHANGES, so I don't need to keep going back and having it evaluated and paying hundreds of dollars. Holy crap! He also explained what macular degeneration is and what causes it. My blonde son with light blue eyes needs to be wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses as often as possible to prevent it in his old age. So those are just two examples of fantastic helpful friendly information I got in one hour. Not to mention, the staff is so nice and helpful. My husband and I both got awesome frames that we love and get lots of compliments on. (and by the way, just now my husband had an issue with his friends and they fixed it quickly and no problem!!!) I just really can't say enough about this office and would recommend it HIGHLY and ENTHUSIASTICALLY to anyone!

Had an issue come up recently; called the Troy office (my usual office) in the morning and they…read moreoffered me an appt. two days out, unless I could drive to Birmingham, and they could squeeze me in that very day. So, I took the Birmingham office appt., and am so glad I did! I had an appt. w Dr. Ceritano, O.D., and she was fantastic, she is a very kind and calm presence, made sure to explain everything she was doing, what to do at home w my medicine, and follow-up info (if needed). Not only was she fantastic, but so was the nurse who I met with first for measurements and drops, and the front office staff! This place ran like a well oiled machine! I was in and out in under 30mins, and my issue has since resolved. Thanks all!

This review is only for the office and the optometrists. I was seen by one of the ophthalmologists…read moreand the experience was wonderful. However, I saw both optometrists and both times I had to wait over an hour and a half to see the optometrist, and both times they were so rushed that what I was given (prescription for glasses and contacts) was not correct so I had to go back. Getting through took days, with no return phone calls, and overall it took me from Martin Luther King Day to the middle of May to get a pair of glasses that work (had to have them change the lenses twice) and contact lenses which are my old prescription because I got so annoyed I just had the doctor give me the same prescription I have had for two years (from another office...we moved). I spoke to the office manager, but the rest of the experience was the same: long wait time, long time before I could get a follow up appointment, and unsatisfactory results in the glasses and contacts. On top of that, I got an overdue billing notice; I have never received a bill from them. The optician is great, but I will not go back except to see the ophthalmologist. I have never been to an office that was so disorganized.
