Disappointed the museum isn't open, they are in the process of building a new place. The memorial on the BLM is worth the visit, you will need to have a US Gov CAC to get on the property (not sure what the visitor policy is) VISI! read more

The Vibe: Free to Receive After morning vinyasa at Balance…read moreYoga Idaho, I heard about a free wellness festival at JUMP. I rearranged my schedule. Yoga Nidra, 4:00 p.m. The Guide: Crystal Moore * Yoga Nidra Crystal invited us to find a place on the grass. Some chose shade. The sun called me. She shared how yoga found her when she needed it and how it changed her life. Then Yoga Nidra. Lie still. Follow her voice. Rest somewhere between waking and sleep. She invited us to bring a sankalpa, a short intention, a promise from somewhere deep within. Mine surfaced. Then I drifted off. Crystal's voice brought me back. The sun warmed my face. I drifted off again. Back to her words. Back to the sun. Gone again. Eventually, she guided us to the earth beneath us. Hands in the grass. A wiggle of the toes. We sat up. Namaste. We were free to try essential oils or stay a little longer in the sun or shade. The Space & Place: Thrive * Boise JUMP gave the festival room to spread out. Open plazas. Rows of colorful tents. Movement, meditation, art, and wellness resources for all ages. Some vendors were packing up, but there was plenty left to explore. If Boise were home, I'd look for Crystal at True North Yoga. Boise, you keep surprising me. The Sum-Up: The class was free. I asked Crystal if she accepted donations. She smiled. "Receive. Just receive." Field Note: Receiving is a practice, too.

First of all, the venue is spacious and works perfectly for a large event. The venue provided breakfast, lunch, and appetizers, and drinks everyday of the conference and the food was amazing. It was the best food I've ever had at conference. They had homemade potato chips and bread. Wonderful desserts and pastries. The first day we had salmon bowls with rice and veggies they were delicious! Everything is top notch and I hope they decide to hold next year's conference here.
Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood near the Orchard/Fairview intersection, Xanadu Community Center…read morewas created by the Idaho Burners Alliance, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that is "a creative alliance, focused on bringing art, science and technology education to Idaho." Xanadu aka "Xu" is a large building on the property that makes up the workspace. Gardens of Xanadu is a large greenhouse on the property that is open to the public during the same business hours as Constellation Coffee, a coffee trailer on the property that is part of Xanadu. President of the Idaho Burners Alliance, Kaden Sinclair bought the property, which functioned as a church from the 1930s until the 1950s, so he could use it to build the art car "Joule" for Burning Man 2015, and it grew from there. One of Kaden's goals is to obtain the funding to build something similar to Meow Wolf, in Boise. Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment company that creates large scale, interactive art installations. Highly Recommended!!!

The center itself was standard as community centers go. It was clean and organized, even decorated nicely for the holiday season. I am rating Fort Boise on the services that are provided rather than the shine you see when you enter the facility. I am so very thankful for stumbling upon my community center. My community connection seems more complete with it. I have used this place as my gym and as my continuing eduction fix. My ceramics class grounds my art craving. Weekly, I walk into a studio filled with budding and more advanced artist. I am surrounded by like minds that find solace in creating something out of clay. If I am wanting to work my heart, I will go to my community center to run or lift weights or to take yoga classes. The gym areas are not huge but it is nice to have a place to go that isn't packed. Nothing matters more to me than what this place STANDS for. The people that work here are dedicated to making their community better and more active. They have a teen center, several art studios, a large gym, and a senior center. Every person I bump into at Fort Boise are friendly and helpful. Please look into other classes, activities, and services that Fort Boise provides. My review is exclusive to the gym and art center but their offerings reach far beyond the boundaries of their walls. I heart!

Usually I do like walking/running 4 laps around the perimeter of the park (two blocks) which is equal to ~1 mile and then relax on the park benches which are well shaded even in the summer. It's the perfect place for families with small kids as there is a playground and is perfect of dog walkers. The park also has a tennis court, public restrooms, a small basketball court, and a grilling area. The only small complaint (which isn't a huge deal) is that some parts along perimeter have a sidewalk and some parts are just a curb. However, traffic around the park is minimal so I think an accident is less likely to happen. I'll continue to come to this park this summer and try out the other amenities in the near future! Come check it out! :)

There was one inmate who successfully escaped by building a ladder to climb the wall. I can understand the desire to see animals you've never seen before, or would otherwise never have…read morethe chance to see. However, at a certain degree- a zoo is inhumane. Especially when it's the Boise Zoo. There is zero enrichment, even environment, for the animals here. They all genuinely look depressed. Which is not only depressing, but heartbreaking. These poor animals are in bare enclosures, dying or dead grass, and have zero stimulation. I've been to many zoos, aquariums, and such as a child. I visited the Boise Zoo for free as I was working (not for the zoo, but the company I was working for offered a day at the zoo for our customers and I was one of the employees selected to go with)... You could not pay me to go back and support this zoo. Or, see the absolutely horrible state these animals are forced to live in. For people who don't care about the animals... The bathrooms were c dirty; not maintained at all. Half of the stalls were out of toilet paper and there was no paper towels to dry your hands. The food is priced crazily high. Zero stars if I could.
