My Aunt was here for 21 days for rehab. Everybody was nice and accommodating, but I want to give a special shout out to Georgette Tubman. She is the social worker here at Wildewood Downs. Georgette's care, expertise and customer service was invaluable for our family by creating next steps for my Aunt. One day I met an exceptionally compassionate nurse at Wildewood Downs. She was attentive to my mother-in-law's concerns about the eyedrops they give her which sting. Before I could bring up the issue, she quickly said they had been ordered already. Shortly thereafter, she delivered the gentler option, ordered by her doctor, refresh eye drops. She showed genuine care over what might seem like a minor issue. She held mom's hand, as if this small task was of great importance, as it was to mom. When I told her the Dry Eye Institute also prescribed Optase after testing, she assured me they would administer it also. Other staff were helpful, directing me to speak to the nurse. This nurse's dedication stood out. Based on her actions, I'd rate her 5 stars. Thank you to the nurse on duty at 3:00 p.m.--job well done! " Also, last week, Wildewood Downs heeded the doctor's advice and our request for a private room and an elevation chair. They have a manual one, due to patient safety, that must be pushed back to elevate my mother-in-law's legs. But it's nice and soft. Still, I would like her to have a walker outside therapy, at least when the caregiver is there to use the belt. But she is making progress in physical therapy, and the therapist assisted her in walking on the walker down the hallway to the assisted living section. They give her occupational and other therapy and seem to be caring a lot more about her well-being. She seems content with the room change. This brings the rating to four stars. I am in rehab for a fractured humerus and want to give gratitude to Cabretta Gantt, CNA. She is kind, caring, patient, highly professional, with a smile that makes my day. With her many years of experience, she anticipates my needs and acts on them. It's obvious that Bretta loves caring for people, no matter how difficult that can be. Very poor quality in food and personnel management. I was there for short term rehab after heart surgery. The tech assigned to me did not attend to bathroom rings, then lied about it. I told the staff and she retaliated by packing up my cpap machine with water still in the humidifier. The machine is ruined and cost me $960 to replace. Fried pickles for dinner, not cooked: dough was still gooey and cold. All meals were poorly prepared. This facility is for end of life NOT REHAB. read more

It looks better than it actually is. It is filthy inside and poor communication from human resources. In my opinion they use a lot of agency nurses versus trying to attract and keep good quality nurses. Instead of spouting talking points they should really show more concern for their employees so they will stay. Upper management really needs to get a grip on this. read more

I cannot thank the staff at Wildewood Downs enough for the support they gave me this past week! I am the primary caregiver for my father, and every so often, I need time to recharge. Mrs. Rosalyn Johnson is the person that I call!! She is so incredibly caring and understanding. She works diligently to try to accommodate patient, staff and family needs. And, she is very responsive, timely with handling requests for support. My dad enjoyed his time at Wildewood Downs, and the nurses, CNAs and entire staff are very trustworthy when it comes to following diet and medication plans. My dad is a diabetic and high blood pressure patient, who has come off medication for both of these conditions. It is critical that whoever cares for him understands how important diet is to healing. The staff was a tremendous help in keeping his blood pressure regulated while they cared for him. That speaks volumes about continuity of care. WWD service has drastically gone down hill in the last 2 years. I realize they like everyone else has issues with a stable workforce but with that being said the upper management needs to get involved to find out why seasoned employees that have worked there for over 10+yrs have left out of frustration. The price I pay for my mother's Assisted Living 2 room accommodations is exorbitant and unfortunately the service doesn't come close to aligning with the cost. However, since my Mom has dementia another move would cause her great mental and emotional stress so we continue to ask for better service and pray something will change. In good conscious, I would recommend asking lots of residents their opinions before making a decision about your future living choices. Our elderly deserve better than all WWD promotes the community to be and do not provide. read more

I am a contract nurse practitioner. I go to MANY facilities and see patients each week. I am amazed each week about this facility. Waaay back when I was in nursing school, we were told about ivory tower nursing, (how things SHOULD BE) vs the real world. THIS facility not only exemplifies ivory tower nursing, they go far beyond. I arrive at 8 am, and find all residents up, showered or bathed, enjoying community time ( Except in the time of Covid quarentine, when they are given individual activities in their rooms). The residents are so well cared for, the staff knows each resident by name and anticipate everything they could need or want from cloths,, activities, health care to the food. They have a restaurant where you find a menu, piano and even a bar! I have included a meal menu for February. This is not only a place I would put myself or a loved one, I would come here for vacation! read more

Making the decision to place a loved one in an assisted living facility is very difficult. Having my mother at Wildewood Downs is an answer to much prayer and a huge blessing to our family. She is in the Memory Care area in which there are few residents which offers personal care and attention which she needs. During this Covid-19 time of limited interaction, the staff recognize the importance of communication with family members which is greatly appreciated. My mother is known by name and is greeted with smiles and kindness. Her reaction to the staff tells us she feels comfortable and safe. Having the knowledge that if or when my mother requires skilled long-term care she can easily transfer within the same facility brings peace of mind. The thought of another major transition for her is unnerving. The Executive Director, Terri Hutton is an absolute God-send! Excellence begins at the top and trickles down. Her leadership is very much appreciated. Finding the BEST care for our mother was our goal and we feel it was accomplished with the Lord's help through Wildewood Downs. read more

Kudos to the Dining Team! Today, April 19, 2022, I experienced an event that could not have been better. It made me proud to call Wildewood Downs my home. The event was the Wildewood Downs Spring Bridge Luncheon. There were 7 tables of bridge players, a total of 28 people. 22 were from WWD and 10 from groups in the community. From the planning to the presentation of the luncheon, I received smiling cooperation. The Chef was so helpful planning the delicious lunch. The dining room manager, fixed tables for bridge and setting of luncheon tables with yellow napkins truly giving a springlike appearance. The Director of dining services, did a series of things to add the finishing touches, getting prizes and candy, as well as marking the tables. I also must mention our star servers made everyone feel special in their care. I am giving details of the day because it shows the extent the dining staff, from the top down, worked together to produce an event from start to finish, that brought rave reviews from those attending. My mother is a resident in the assisted living facility here and I am delighted with the care she receives. The staff is attentive, polite, caring, and proactive. I am greeted by everyone when I visit, and my concerns and questions are taken seriously and dealt with immediately . Her room is kept clean, there are ample activities in which she can participate, the dining room is bright and well furnished, and the food is actually edible. We looked at at least six other facilities in the area before making a decision, and we're glad we chose Wildewood. read more

We searched Columbia over before we decided on Wildewood Downs. They had the full spectrum of care from Independent Living to Long Term Care. Mom entered their care after experiencing a cerebellar stroke and began her journey from skilled nursing to assisted living. Eight months later, she had another stroke and returned to skilled nursing, but this time she had to go into long term care with hospice. At each stage, she was able to make her room her home. The leadership at Wildewood is excellent but they did struggle with some basic issues of daily care. They were open to concerns and did their best to correct the problems. Eighty percent of the staff had "good hearts" and enjoyed working with geriatrics. The other twenty percent turned over or were substituted with contract employees, which interrupted quality of care. Overall, it was a caring place but I felt we had to advocate for her care to make sure things were not overlooked. read more

My mother went to Wildewood Downs for rehab following a hospitalization. The first time I went to visit her there, she had been moved to a new room because they needed to make space for a male patient. I found her lying in bed, soaked, with a super-soaked dirty diaper on the floor next to her. As a nurse myself, having changed many diapers, I am guessing that she hadn't been changed in a very long time. I had to ring for help and the CNA/technician that came in had a horrible attitude. Over the course of mother's stay there, she was moved to a new room three more times. In the process, her hearing aid - which was supposed to be locked up at night - was lost. Of course, no one had any answers and they didn't want to accept responsibility. My mother couldn't have lost it herself, as she was completely immobile. The duration of her stay there was pretty much like this -- simply not good at all. When she finally got transferred out to her home, at a facility elsewhere, Wildwood Downs sent her with the wrong wheelchair, which was far less nice than her own wheelchair. Some of her personal belongings were left behind as well & I had to go in person to swap out the wheelchairs and to get her belongings. I wouldn't recommended this place, ever, unless of course, you are looking to end someone's life early. I believe that could happen at Wildwood Downs! read more
