Kids got to help pull the ropes for one of the sails and learn about how much work it is to live on and manage that sized sail boat! Wilson even came down to the pier in Bay City Mi. on a Sunday, to see what kind of problems I was dealing with. Wilson is a small operation and he tries to do his best to help all his customers. I witnessed that, when I happened to be at his shop picking up my boat around closing time, a customer was heading north for the weekend and he stayed after hours to complete a job so someone would have a good weekend. He has put a new lower unit on my boat, switched the wiring around to make it more convenient to shut the batteries off. Wilson has put many new parts on my boat at a reasonable price and I appreciate having qualified mechanics that know how to fix things right! As far as how quick he gets a job done, I've always been patient and understanding of his situation. My biggest concern has always been am I going to have a reliable boat?

In the past 2 years, however, this course and its' staff have undergone a noticeable and precipitous decline. The golf course is filled with holes, bare spots, and numerous unmarked hazards. The staff is pretentious (not sure why), unfriendly, and they always seem inconvenienced to do their duty. To make matters worse, they are extremely unfriendly to active duty service members and veterans; I have experienced the pernicious slight first-hand while trying to reserve a tee time for my brother who just returned home to Midland from a combat deployment. As an avid golfer, and hometown son of Midland, MI, I highly recommend that if you want quality golf with a staff that cares, do not go to Sandy Ridge. You would have a more rewarding golf experience by playing ANYWHERE else, or by just staying home and watching Caddyshack again...

Lest you get run down by a horse or step on a turd. There are several tables and benches scattered around so it seems like a great place to have a picnic when the weather is good. It'd be a good idea to pack something to enjoy after your walk. In the wintertime they also have a hill for sledding, toboggan runs, and a skating rink. Unfortunately it had been raining on and off the week before so some parts of the paths had turned into pretty big puddles. Neither of us had rain boots on so we didn't want to move further in those directions.
