Boy where do I start? Roots has been an absolute blessing to our lives over the past four years,…read moreand we are heartbroken to be moving away from them. Dr. Lassin has created a unicorn vet clinic, we have seen over half a dozen vets since we got our French bulldog, Brie, seven years ago and I can confidently say that every other vet pales in comparison to Roots. Brie has gone through so much with the Roots team and has been seen by Dr. Lassin, Dr. Sosa, and our favorite lady Dr. Jordan. We have always felt heard and seen by each one of them and the entire team has gone above and beyond to care for our girl through incessant allergies, an IVDD surgery recovery, ongoing UTIs, and more always offering holistic options when possible and weighing each and every scenario with us. Calling us back for updates (even after hours) and always being so patient with our feisty girl. There are no words that we can use to express our gratitude for all of the care and love this group of people have given to our fur baby over the past four years. Thank you is simply not enough, and if we ever find ourselves back in Austin, it won't even be a question of where we'll bring all of our future pets. We love y'all so much!

To say that this is a vet clinic that focuses on holistic medicine would be quackery. I took my dog…read moreas a puppy to roots to find out why he was itching. They concluded that it could be environmental allergies and have told me that we should try different diets for food to test it. They gave him cytopoint and sent him on his way. This was in 2023/2024. Now it is 2026 and he has passed away in May of 2026 from a heart attack related to Chagas disease which is endemic to Texas due to kissing bugs. How can you claim to be an integrative vet when you don't even spread awareness about chagas? My poor baby has struggled most of his life from itching due to chagas eating him away from the inside and inflamming his heart. The vet tried to upsell us on kibble and apoquel along with routine cytopoint injections instead of getting to the "root" of the problem. We ended up doing immunotherapy down the line which helped his fur grow back and cleared some of the fungus that has grown on his body, but we were not able to catch chagas disease in time. I hope that this "holistic integrative veterinary care" clinic warns dog owners around Austin about chagas and starts referring people to test for chagas annually at Texas A&M for an antibody test and recommend annual blood work. I found my experience to be transactional and cursory.

My female cat has started experiencing kidney/urinary issues over the past year. A couple of weeks…read moreago, I took her in for updated bloodwork since her previous vet (who has since left Paz) wanted to monitor a specific marker. The appointment cost around $200-$250. During this appointment I wasn't seen by a doctor, just the tech, but was assured a doctor would review her bloodwork and contact me. They emailed me to say that "everything was within normal range." However, since I specifically wanted to see the results for this particular marker, I requested a copy of the bloodwork. To my surprise, when I reviewed the results, multiple markers were clearly concerning, even to my untrained eye. When I asked questions about these findings, they told me I'd need to schedule another follow-up appointment (with an additional visit fee) and bring her back in just to discuss the results. Why would I stress my cat out with another car ride/vet visit just to get answers about my previous appointment? This makes no sense. On top of that, it took them about a week to even call me back. During this time, I hired an online vet to review the bloodwork. To my shock, this vet confirmed that the results show early signs of kidney disease--the leading cause of death in cats--and stressed the importance of starting preventative measures immediately. In short, I can no longer recommend this clinic. All the good vets have left, and the quality of care provided could cause major health concerns to go missed. Please find a better option! This clinic claims to be holistic and to have a natural approach, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Don't be fooled by the cute decor and logo. -- we have used the East Side and South First locations.

I…read morewas a little worried at first if insurance would cover this therapy for me and also if this would be for me. Chase helped me call my insurance company (giving me the right questions to ask them) to get verification that these services would be covered. The traffic to get here is a little bit of pain but I have been feeling overall better. I enjoy the use of equine into my therapy because I am huge animal lover. I never realized that horses can have such a vital role in helping me in my progress but ever time I leave here to head home my mind is in a better place. Interestingly enough, I had taken a sensory processing test during my evaluation and found out things about myself that I had come to live with throughout my life. I would have loved to have this type of therapy when I was a child but back in the 80s this would have been laughed at. At least back in Ohio where I grew up.

Very caring, very smart, and has always made the correct call for our pups when issues arise big or small. Speaking as a OCD critical care nurse (comes with the profession) I trust the guy! Here's where I went wrong. We moved and tried another vet a few blocks from our house because one of our dogs had a toe infection and we thought it would be easy. Biggest regret ever. Now after 2 weeks on antibiotics from this other clinic our dogs toe infection has not healed. Different doc every dressing change. They don't get to see the full picture of start to finish, just the one day they look at it. This never would've happened with Dr. Unflat. He keeps a close eye on things and the pets aren't with different veterinarians each visit! Now they think it may have bone involvement and be aggressive. That or cancer. I'm kicking myself. Should have never strayed. Now I'll be running right back to Dr. Unflat as soon as they open tomorrow. I don't care how long the drive is or what traffic looks like. All I care about is what's best for my pups, and that's Dr. Unflat! If you're still reading you're on this journey with me now lol.
