I recently called Evergreen inquiring about music lessons. The dude on the phone was overtly…read moremansplainy throughout the call which was annoying and then was being pushy about how frequent I should take the lessons after I had said that I wanted to meet once a week. I'm guessing this guy doesn't reflect the personalities of instructors or their quality of teaching but I didn't really feel like having to deal with the dude when there are other high quality music schools in town at the same price/less expensive. Maybe this guy was actually the owner? I have no idea, but it probably wouldn't hurt to let someone else speak to the public!

Because he's still a novice, private lessons are great, and $100 a month is so affordable. Initially, I thought 25 minutes would be too short, but it turned out to be a great length for a 10 year old to focus. My son works with Amelia. She is very positive and great with kids. She's also flexible. My son was sick last week and couldn't come in, but Amelia was willing to schedule a make-up session on a Saturday morning. Conclusions: My son enjoys coming in every week, and I'm happy with our overall experience. I highly recommend Evergreen Music Studios, but you may want to keep in mind a couple of thing. Things to watch out for: They send you invoices online, and you can pay them online as well. If you use a credit card, they will charge you a convenience fee of $5.85. I think it's silly to pay $5.85 for a $100 invoice. Also, they will assess you 10% on late payments, which they do not disclose on their invoices. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit "useful" so that I can improve my reviews. My ukulele teacher recommended I visit this music shop to have my G-string restrung to a low G, and…read morejust for the record, I'm NOT talking about undergarments. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the store was open Labor Day weekend, including the Monday holiday. The shop has been moved into the same building as Checkmate Pawn. When you enter the store, take a hard right and head to the very back to find the music section and Checkmate Music counter. Henry assisted me with my request, and provided me with several options. I could buy just the low G string or an entire set of strings. Thankfully, he gave me an honest assessment, and said that my current Aquila strings were in very good condition and didn't need to be replaced at this time. However, he suggested I could buy the whole set and keep the strings as backup. I opted for the single string replacement, which he was kind enough to place on my instrument. He even took the time to show me how it was done. He also recommended I hold onto my existing high G string in case I want to put it back on my instrument at a later date. In general, I don't like to patronage pawn shops because I think they enable thieves to unload stolen goods, but since I didn't know the music store was now tucked into the pawn shop, I ended up doing business there. Fortunately, I had great service which cost me less than $5 and 10 minutes of my time.

I ended up going back another time for another project, and since, I've just given in that Bellinghome is a part of my life now. I've made some projects with my son at 3 and 4 years old. I know Nick is a great teacher because of how he works with my son (patient, the right amount of silly, always laid back). The equipment is all top notch and all of the recordings I've made there are crisp and clean. I've also done some video stuff with Nick. He's helped hugely with a music video I'm working on, giving us incredible footage and lots of pointers along the way. Nick is a bit of a creative Renaissance man. He's very well rounded, but humble and hospitable. It's just a great place, really. I've decided that supporting Bellinghome is as much a no brainer for me as supporting the grocery store--its nourishment. I'm thrilled to have this space be a part of my kids' lives as they grow. Whatever your needs, call Nick!!
