Solid 3 stars!
Now I pass by this Wildfire Casino nearly every weekday on Rancho on my way to work. I never really thought about stopping by until recently when we noticed our Station Casino monthly flyer was coming with a nice little coupon at the casino's restaurant. Then I passed by one day and saw the sign that said they had a $4.99 1/4 pound cheeseburger and fries special. Combo that with our $20 worth of food for $10? Sign me up!
OK, you get inside Wildfire Casino and it's a wee bit tiny. Small gaming area! It's like, if you had a rich friend and they wanted a slot machine area in their house...this is what it would end up looking like. Cozy. But still smoky. However, since it is a Station Casino property, you can use your rewards card and points here like you would any other Station Casino - that's a plus.
By far the biggest line in this place was for the restaurant. It was crowded thankfully. Not a typical restaurant, you look at the menu before hand on their screens and order at the counter before you sit down at a table. You get a number and your food is brought to you. Easy enough.
Menu is typical American - a smattering of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and entrees. Very bar-type environment food. But honestly, it's not done too bad! For lunch we ordered:
*Turkey Club ($6.99) - Triple stacked sandwich with turkey, bacon, lettuce & tomato on your choice of bread
*Cheeseburger & Fries ($4.99 special) - 1/4 pound cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, pickle & onion on a toasted bun with your choice of cheese
*T-Bone Steak ($9.99) - 14 oz. T-Bone grilled and served with mashed potatoes & veggies
Choice of fries could easily be substituted with either sweet potato fries or onion strings at no additional charge.
Right off the bat, the T-Bone was UGH. Dry and small, even cooked at a requested medium rare. It was a bit tough, probably not aged properly. Really not much to talk about here.
Turkey Club & Cheeseburger were actually very good though. Bread on the Club was toasted perfectly and had real slices of turkey inside along with crispy bacon. Lettuce & tomato on the Club were cool & crunchy, I rather enjoyed this sandwich a lot. One of the better Clubs I've had. That Cheeseburger (we got cheddar) was tasty as well! Cooked just right with some red inside, it was considerably juicy and the bun was supple. Great for $4.99!
Wild Grill seems to be a great place for a quick lunch. If you get a coupon like we did you can feed a small family for very little! Our bill after the coupon came out to $14 before tax & tip! Cheapy! Service was fast and efficient, friendly so no complaints there.
So nice we ate there TWICE!
We ended up going to Wild Grill for dinner one night a few weeks after our first visit. I again got the Turkey Club. But wifey took a chance and got the:
*Catfish Dinner ($8.49) - Fried catfish served with hush puppies and fries
Catfish was phenomenal! Very surprised it was so delicious! Basket came with a serving of three large pieces of fried catfish. Batter was good! Light, with the texture of cornmeal, and flaky fish inside. We ate this sucker up with malt vinegar and tartar sauce! Their fried catfish is surprisingly on par with a place like Mario's (sorry Mario). Tasty! read more
