After the event was over, chairs were quickly stacked and moved out of the way for guests to mingle.

What an amazing place! Recently went for the first time to attend the Speakeasy Open Mic Night and fell in love not only with the event but Wild Goose Creative. Great space, Chill vibe and love the art that was displayed during my visit. I hope to stop by soon for a new event!

I just magically ended up at the opening of this gallery/performing arts venue with some friends last night. I spoke briefly with Ryan, one of the six founding members, and was impressed with the concept. The Wild Goose Creative is a (soon to be) non-profit venue with the sole intention of fostering collaboration among artists. Unlike most similar groups, these guys include every artistic pursuit, including cooking. They hold a monthly cooking class called Too Many Cooks! at their gallery on Summit. They also hold beer tastings and comedy shows, as well as other craft/skill oriented interests. Check out their website for the full story. It all takes place in a great gallery space next to Rhumba Cafe.

I've been here a few times before. This time round, I snatched up a ticket to their sold-out April Too Many Cooks event. Dos Hermanos did a talk and demo on their homemade Mexican tamales. 100% for the community! This nonprofit-run space hosts all kinds of events for all ages. Yoga/exercise classes, cooking demos, music and comedy nights, informational gatherings, renting out for private events, you name it. The space is a decent size. Rectangular. They have a stage area up front. I believe there is somewhat of a "kitchen" in the back (I'm not sure what all that entails...).

Been here a few times for a few different events. Since this is an event space that events…read morethemselves can rent out, I'll try to avoid commenting on the actual events. Instead, I want to focus a bit on the staff and space provided at the Kee. I've been surprised by the event staff here every time I've come to an event. Every time I've gone, the bar has been pretty understaffed. Customers will come up asking for water, and bartenders will wave them off, saying "Get water from the free dispenser over there" while the dispenser is empty. Maybe this is a barback issue? The bathrooms start out okay in the beginning of the event, but every event has been out of toilet paper and paper towels by the end. They're looking pretty shabby too. The Kee might consider mid-event janitorial services because women ducking into the men's room to steal toilet paper rolls to hand them off to other women who are sitting in the stalls is probably not the look you're going for. The space itself is cute. Rooms are wide open with ample walking space. The main room (the Kee calls it "The Venue") is huge and echo-y - which is a shame because this appears to be where they put live entertainment and music. We've had a hard time hearing any presenter's words in this room because of the acoustics. The additional rooms are super cute (love the arcade games and unique furniture), but they're only open during events if your event paid for them. The arcade games cost extra money. There are nearby parking lots that'll handle most small-event traffic, but if something huge is going on, you might need to figure out street parking. The hallways/entryways are definitely built for shuttling people through, and they handle entrance lines pretty solidly. (I'm a little confused by the Yelpers reviewing food or drinks here. The Kee is only open for private and public events. It looks like this might have been a restaurant space at one point?)

The bathrooms were awesome (pink sinks, faucets, and hand dryers in the women's room!) -the barista who manned the coffee bar for the event was wonderful. It's easy to get to but there's not really any parking in the area. I know a lot of people that get their cars broken into on the weekends, so I suggest ubering if you can. Once inside the building it looks old. Word on the street is this was an old bank back in the 1920s. There's tile everywhere, the walls could use a paint job, and the bathroom was a wreck. But like I said in the beginning, it fits for the right event, and a rave is just one of them. When you reach the ballroom, you'll find the old vault tucked under a grand staircase. It doesn't really have any of the old vault features but it is what it is. I will say that the lighting is pretty good, and the giant windows are cool. When I've been there they projected the DJs name on the wall, like I see many do for weddings. There's a big chandelier hanging right in the middle with tapestries pulling away from it. It's rather beautiful. I'm interested in seeing this place set up in the daytime or for a wedding but who knows if that would ever happen. If they cleaned up the place a bit I can see it being really lovely.

My husband had to drive around the place a few times once we found out where it was. And then finding a restroom inside was very interesting... there was one bathroom that had one one toilet! The bar was inside the vault, and it was a traffic jam going on and out just to grab a drink or an appetizer. Since the area was so small, the entire party had to leave the room so that the room could be changed from ceremony to dining. I was in awe of the staircase because it was so beautiful, especially when the couple came down with firework streamers. I was happy to see my family enjoy such an event.

Graystone Cellars is a banquet venue in the Brewery District located in a limestone vault. (pretty cool, huh?!) They carry some local wines & their food menu looks delicious! Plenty of options from a la carte apps to dinner and apps to dinner, drinks, & apps, etc. For drinks, there are multiple options from sodas to wine/beer to wine/beer/spirits, to better spirits, you name it! Brian was responsive and the information packet he sent me had everything I would want to know (the food and drink options, venue pictures, cost, etc.). I asked if gratuity was included, and he confirmed it was added into all of the pricing. So, it was a really great option! I haven't reviewed places I haven't experienced, but we looked at quite a few venues, and I was really impressed by the quality of food and drinks, how beautiful the space was, and the price. It was the best venue option, in my opinion. So, I wanted to share! The only reason we didn't book Graystone is because one of my colleagues got too nervous about the little lead time we had & wanted something with live bar music for the younger folk, so he booked a grungy bar. The younger team wanted to karaoke (he didn't), and he knew that no one could karaoke if there was already live music & a venue available to the public, so here we are. Ha! Fingers crossed for next year.
