This crisp industrial building is a perfect backdrop for gatherings, events, and connecting with the community. The roominess of the accessible space is afforded by lofted ceilings in both of the large gathering areas. The front area offers a few tabletop and lounge seating arrangements flanked by gallery art and a generous open air kitchen with large Island. The back room has a high-top bar to the side and a generous floor space and stage for live music and readings. Columbus is lucky to have a space like this accessible to our community and vibrant arts scene. read more

We stopped into Wild Goose Creative during Franklinton Friday. We accidentally passed it the first time we walked by because we were so distracted by looking at the art on display in the tents and the performance art taking place. Happily, we noticed the space with its large door open on our next pass and we popped into view an interesting comics exhibit. They had a nice art activity set up on a stage in the corner, which a number of kids were enjoying. The space is nice - very high ceilings make it feel pretty roomy. The staff at the desk were very welcoming and helpful. read more

It's a cute venue. The acoustics are terrible though, so with music and lots of people, your ears will take a beating. I know concrete floors and bare walls and high ceilings look cool, but it feels like a pencil just got pushed through my eardrum. No lie, parking is a bear. There is street parking and parking in the back. The back lot is also shared with nearby residents. I've been here for Bacon Camp, Too Many Cooks (the pie baking edition) and regularly attend Stitch & Bitch. Sometimes other events are scheduled at the same time as Stitch & Bitch so the space is large enough to accomodate two smallish groups. People from the other events have been friendly as have the few Wild Goose Creative volunteers I've met. Women and men are welcome to the Stitch & Bitch group. We end up chatting about tv shows, movies, books, running, sports teams, kids, crafts and so on. read more

I just magically ended up at the opening of this gallery/performing arts venue with some friends last night. I spoke briefly with Ryan, one of the six founding members, and was impressed with the concept. The Wild Goose Creative is a (soon to be) non-profit venue with the sole intention of fostering collaboration among artists. Unlike most similar groups, these guys include every artistic pursuit, including cooking. They hold a monthly cooking class called Too Many Cooks! at their gallery on Summit. They also hold beer tastings and comedy shows, as well as other craft/skill oriented interests. Check out their website for the full story. I attended an art show and purchased 2 pieces of art from this gallery. During the show, the lights were off and no one was in attendance besides me. The volunteer for the gallery was too busy being part of a zoom call to acknowledge my presence (we're all busy I get it but I wanted to buy art!). When I went to the scheduled pickup time - no one showed up for me to pick up my art. They apologized and we rescheduled. Fast forward to picking up my art - they could only find one of the pieces I purchased and the frame was broken. I received only pieces of paper (unframed) and was told they would have to look for the other. The person I spoke with is the director and they said it was somewhere on the property. When stating I had 2 pieces they claimed that they had given me both until I showed a picture of the pieces I purchased. They then had me return to the gallery the next day to retrieve the other piece - unsurprisingly this one also had a mysteriously broken frame. I asked if they had an extra frame since I paid for both (framed!) pieces and they said they didn't have one at the gallery. I really wanted to support this place but I had a disappointing experience and really just wanted to buy art from the person I knew was in the gallery. read more

I've been here a few times before. This time round, I snatched up a ticket to their sold-out April Too Many Cooks event. Dos Hermanos did a talk and demo on their homemade Mexican tamales. 100% for the community! This nonprofit-run space hosts all kinds of events for all ages. Yoga/exercise classes, cooking demos, music and comedy nights, informational gatherings, renting out for private events, you name it. The space is a decent size. Rectangular. Wild Goose Creative is proof that Columbus has an ever-growing and strong arts community! I started attending events at Wild Goose Creative almost a year ago, and one of the first things that struck me was how everyone I met was incredibly sincere. Folks from Wild Goose remembered my name and face and made it a point to seek me out at events and strike up conversations. I don't feel the need to "drag" my friends with me for support, because I know I'll always have someone to talk to at WGC. Some of my favorite events include the Too Many Cooks series, where local chefs and foodies give demonstrations and talks about all things food related. I've also attended a number of Third Thursdays at WGC. My favorite Third Thursday was with a designer from Element discussing his work and working within the design community. Wild Goose Creative lends itself as an art gallery, with a wonderful wall perfect for hanging large pieces of work. The space itself is very clean, with one beautiful indoor brick wall, a large window facing the street, a small kitchenette and bathroom. I've seen large crowds pack into WCG for events like Bacon Camp, Columbus Underground meet-ups and artist talks. Wild Goose Creative is exactly what Columbus needs! An outlet for artists and creative folks. An exhibition space for art, music and theater. And a friendly face. If you haven't been convinced by my review to check out Wild Goose Creative sometime soon, then maybe the magic PBR fairy that hangs out at WGC can convince you! read more

WGC is a fantastic multi-purpose events space! I have been here for: - a colleague's wedding reception - a friend's 25th birthday - a NYE celebration (with a Christian hip-hop rapper!) - brainstorming sessions with a local public radio station - to learn from a local business about their letterpress history - to learn how to make ramen - to learn to forage for weeds And probably a number of other things! Certainly not your ordinary events space, WGC is also an art gallery, a gathering space for improv comedy and story-telling, a place for live music, a place to "stitch and b*tch", and many other things. As I'm writing this review, WGC is working with local artists to help them promote their art through not just a physical medium, but through social media as well. The actual physical space is on the smallish side, but it's fine--it lends an air of intimacy to any event you may attend. You can sit close to the stage/demo area and interact with the presenter. Some events are BYOB, so you can bring exactly what you like to drink and not pay a ridiculous sum of money for one drink or needing to tip the bartender. There is a stove (perhaps with an oven) in the back of the space if you need to do some food prep. There are plenty of options to "play" with the space--dividers can be added, a stage can be assembled, tables easily moved around. And from what I've heard, renting the space for a private event is very affordable. I don't think any other space around town can boast the versatility of use and the breadth of programming that WGC has to offer. WGC is a non-profit and you can join as a member for a fee of $5 per month ($60 per year). As part of your membership, you get free admission to one event each month. The one downside to WGC (which they can't control) is sometimes parking can be difficult. Street parking is available on Summit, which is one-way, and WGC has to contend with parking for nearby Rumba Cafe and a few other businesses. Try some of the side streets and you may fare better. read more

What is creative? Whatever you want it to be. The gang at Wild Goose have made their mission to encourage Columbus to come out and try their hand at whatever their preferred method of creation is, from art shows, craft nights, cooking classes, offering writing space, even concerts, dance reviews, or stand up comedy! The space is a great compromise between the need for room and keeping the feeling friendly and social - even when there are only a handful of people there the space feels inviting, rather than empty, and it can easily hold fifty or sixty people without feeling crowded. I'm also a big fan of the "Vend-Art" machine - a cigarette dispenser given new life, loaded with various little art pieces created by local artists that you can buy for $3 a pop. I've only been to two events at WGC, but there's a constant stream of events at their site that make me go "Oh, I need to go check that out when I have a chance", so I look forward to many return visits! read more

A girlfriend and I went to Wild Goose's holiday event featuring artists from Etsy last evening. It's kind a hard for me to give a non profit such a low rating but I do believe it's just. First, it took us over 1/2 an hour to find parking. It's not in the greatest of neighborhoods so we didn't want to park too far away. Second, when we got inside I couldn't believe that there were only a hand full of artists which were featuring items mostly for women. We were both on the hunt for gifts for our husbands. The advertisement that I saw on Columbus Underground made it sound like it was going to be much more than it really was. Third, I had never been to Wild Goose before. Neither my friend or I were greeted by anyone. There were several women standing on the sidelines with name tags and wine in hand but no one acknowledged us even when we made eye contact. We were there for a total of 10-15 minutes. I really felt out of place. I'm not sure I would go back. read more

What can I say, I love this place! I had no idea that Wild Goose existed until I saw an event posted on the Yelp event page. I can only speak for the Too Many Cooks session that is held on the second Sunday of every month. I've attended three events, they were all wonderful! Each time has been different- interactive cooking, a discussion, or a PowerPoint presentation. Every time though, I've left full and satisfied - more than enough samples to go around! It's a truly cozy and friendly setting. It's so comfortable and laid back that you can attend by yourself. Each time I've been I've gone alone and it's never a problem, I've met some very nice people. A foodies paradise! Oh, did I mention it's a byob affair?! Good food, good company for $5 in advance or $8 at the door - doesn't get better than this! Parking, yeah it can be a pain! Your best bet is to come early and get a spot in the back lot. I truly look forward to this event! There all types of other events that I want to attend, but for now the second Sunday at 7pm is where I'll be! read more

Put together a show on Wed June 22nd to do my stand-up comedy show at Wild Goose Creative in Columbus, Ohio. The venue seats about 90 people and has a stage, light and sound set up. It was a perfect venue to do my show, no noisy bar crowd that won't shut up, just a captive group of folks that are happy to be in a clean smoke free venue. I rented Wild Goose Creative for this event and HIGHLY RECOMMEND this venue if you are looking to do an art, comedy or music show in Columbus and don't want to book it at a bar. Venue also has a kitchen with oven and fridge for use and allowed us to do a BYOB show that people really liked the concept of. read more

Amazing. I went to the annual craft show, Crafts Gone Wild, and it was more than I could have hoped for! Amazing vendors with super awesome stuff for sale. I wish I would have waiting to buy my Christmas presents! The space is small, but there is plenty to see. Wild Goose is a special thing and Columbus is lucky to have it. They offer a creative space for all artistic ventures ranging from stand-up, sketch, and improv comedy to cooking demonstrations to musical performances. It also serves as a gallery space, rotating displays every few weeks/months. If you have a project and you need a space to do it, go to Wild Goose. If you have a free weeknight and are looking for something to do, go to Wild Goose! It's a non-profit, they recycle, they have chalkboard paint in the bathroom - what more could you want?! read more

Just finished a Pop-up Art Show that four artists and myself had yesterday at Wild Goose Creative. From first contact, to the walk through, to set up and tear down, everything went as smoothly as it possibly could have. Although we were renting the facilities for the day, and were given free range to use tables, lighting, kitchenette, linens, etc., we never felt "on our own". They could have just taken our money and had a "figure it out" attitude, but they didn't. Justin and his staff helped us with both set up, tear down, and answered all our questions along the way. The price point for renting WGC for three and a half hours was ridiculously affordable, and let's face it: artists, whether doing it as a hobby or professionally, don't have a whole lot of money to spend. Keeping the rental price low gave us the ability to sell some art, and possibly make a profit for the day. The turn out was great, and I would guess there was an average of thirty people in the building at any given point during our two hour show. It's true, the five artists advertised heavily through social media and tradition fliers, but WGC advertised for us as well. Since they already have a built in community of people who support the arts, their advertising for our show was very important. All and all, and I think I can speak for all five artists who participated, the Pop-up Art Show at WGC was a very positive experience. I would have another show there in a heartbeat, and I totally support what they provide for the art community. read more

I came here for a showing of an independent filmmaker's documentary a few weeks ago. I'd driven past a few times but never attended any events here. It is a lovely little venue located just south of Clintonville. When we were there, it was set up with a small stage by the front window, chairs in theater style arrangement facing the stage, a projector screen above the stage, with snacks and merchandise set up in the back. The showing went without a hitch, the musical performance and Q&A afterwards was great. There was a bit of bleed-over from the Rumba Cafe down the street which disrupted some of the quieter parts of the evening, which is no fault of this venue. We were able to park in the back, but were a little confused about whether there was a entrance in the back or not, since there were no signs on the back doors. read more

First timer to Wild Goose and my oh my was it fun! This is a place to get into if you are trying to explore the art scene here in Columbus... They are very creative and open to many art forms... The people were also extremely nice and welcoming... Why was I there? I participated in workshops and performed at the Columbus Unscripted Improv Festival... This is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend. For $5 (usually), you get hours of improv entertainment for the night. Community members serve as the improv-ers, and it seems like a super safe space for anyone interested in improv. Additionally, if you choose to go to a show, you can bring your own alcohol in! All shows are BYOB, which is great paired with the cheap price of admission. I highly recommend that everyone in Columbus should check this place out at least once. read more

Took the comedy improv class with Bill Sabo and Barbara Allen and loved it! It was my first time ever doing this, and both Bill and Barbara were so encouraging, helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I had a blast and made new friends as well. The seminar with Justin and Kelly was awesome -- the level of talent of people there was very impressive. I'm taking another class and can't wait to try more improv. Highly recommend Wild Goose and the comedy improv class. read more

We were in Columbus OH for a show, and needed something to do in the evening. We stumbled across the Wild Goose Creative on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Apparently we were lucky to get a parking spot out back. We brought our own bottle and having paid the monkey (their cute saying for giving your donation), we took a seat. Not having a CLUE what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised to be warmly greeted by the people that were there (later we found they were the actors). Right before the show started about 20 more people rolled in, and without further ado, the show started. Intimate - they're right there in front of you! Heck they set up right in front of you. :) Low key, laid back, homey, this is a venue that I'd love to have in my home town. We saw an improv show that was VERY funny. Harold, the main actor, was there with a troup he never works with but no one skipped a beat. One skit after another, most very very funny, and some while not as funny still quite good. Lot of improv talent there! read more
