Hubby and I took a four-day New Year's trip to the Four Corners region, and we booked a tour of the Bears Ears National Monument for the day after our first night in Bluff, UT. Brock was our driver and tour guide, but he was so much more. He was so knowledgeable about the local flora, fauna, history, politics, ancient peoples and more it was simply astounding. He had been a park ranger at Zion National Park in Utah, among other things, and it was clear he had a great abiding love for the outdoors. We were just floored by the things that he showed us! We hiked to several ancient cliff dwellings and petroglyph sites throughout the national monument. The hikes were doable for a couple old fogeys like us (he was much younger) and yet invigorating, especially the cool winter air! He offered the use of his binoculars, which was fantastic as we had forgotten to bring any. He provided water and snacks to keep us watered and fed. He helped us over a particularly tricky little bit of rock climbing (and thank you to a local Eagle Scout who made it his project to build a staircase that made it possible!) to get to the edge of this cliff that showed us an amazing view of multiple cliff dwellings and caves along a vast rock formation called Comb Ridge. He also told us about a great writer, Edward Abbey, who was a longtime park ranger at Arches National Monument near Moab (which we had toured on a previous visit to the area). I can't wait to dig into his fiction and non-fiction alike! Brock know-how about so many different things was just preternaturally freaky! We liked him immensely! He even offered us a discount to go on one of the rafting trips on the nearby San Juan River during the warmer months. He was so enthusiastic in talking about it, we are now all in! We had a great time with Elle our guide, and Elvis our guide-in-training and driver! A great 6ix hours of tour. My only regret is not having the Natural Bridges area as part of our tour. Elle was very knowledgeable and, quite entertaining. She is a very communicative person and who demonstrates how much she likes being a guide through her exuberant personality. Should we travel again to the San Juan river area, and Bluff, we will be contacting Wild Expeditions again. read more

We booked three separate tours with Wild Expeditions and two of the three were amazing and unforgettable. We were blessed to have the same amazing guide for both. Eli was personable, professional, knowledgeable and very engaging. We loved both the Intro to Bears Ears as well as the Sunset Tour of the Valley of the Gods. The views were spectacular! The third, Riverhouse UTV, was negatively impacted by mother nature and both our guide and the company worked with us to make sure everyone was happy. We were so disappointed to not be able to fully experience our UTV tour, but chose to go back to the resort rather than chance having issues further into the tour. I didn't expect any refund as we made the final decision to go back but they offered one and we finally decided on a refund of half the cost. My husband and I didn't feel it was right for a full refund as it was ultimately our decision to turn around. We'd definitely go back and do additional tours with Wild Expeditions! Jensen and Zach were amazing guides. Jensen really knew a lot about the ancient Puebloans and other cliff dwellers and shared at just the right times, while Zach excelled at some difficult driving and clearly knew the canyons and roads in and out of the Monument like the proverbial back of his hand. The six of us, 2 from New Mexico, 2 from NYC and 2 from London (England) all enjoyed the morning with them and all appreciated what they added to our experience of the Monument. read more

Booked our family for the full day river rafting trip and was not disappointed! Our friendly driver, Kyle, took us to the launch point and our guides, Dallin and Nonabah, had everything ready for us at the river. They were both so knowledgeable about the river, geology, animals/birds, and ancient Native American culture. We saw lots of petroglyphs and Pueblo ruins and I was really happy with how much respect was shown to these ancient areas to leave no trace. There was plenty of drinking water and lunch was turkey and ham pita sandwiches. The best part: fresh, cold watermelon slices to enjoy on the banks on a hot day! I was so impressed with Dallin and Nonabah's nimbleness and confidence guiding the raft. They turned off the motor for a couple hours and rowed so we could enjoy the peace of nature all around us. We saw many Blue Herron, turkey vultures, red tailed hawks, Canadian geese, big horned sheep, horses, and more. There were a number of rapids we went through. They were just the right amount of excitement which brought smiles and laughter from my teenage daughters who are normally very grumpy and unenthused. This trip checked off a huge bucket list item for me. And now I'm thinking about a 3 day trip next time! read more

I took a day raft trip on San Juan River. My experience was great thanks owner Geared, tour guide Greg and driver who took me and the Italian couple to the river and back to the office. I was impressed by the punctuality and the honest service. Everything was very smooth and on time. At 7.45 am the driver was waiting for us and we even left before announced 8 am. Raft and tour guide were ready for us at the river. Greg was very knowledgeable and with the help of the book he answered easily our questions regarding history, stone formation, plants, birds, Native Americans and old settlements in the cliff dwelling which we were visiting. I liked the organization of the trip with few stops and short hikes to the petroglyph walls, to the cliff dwelling pueblo and for the lunch on the beach which was prepared just for us by Greg. I liked every aspect of the easy floating on the mostly calm water. My bigger experience was from floating in the canyon and watching beautiful colors of the stone formations. This was my unplanned stop on the way from Monument Valley, but very pleasant, enjoyable and relaxed, since I did not have to paddle and just enjoyed the nature. read more

An absolutely awesome trip from start to finish. I was picked up from my hotel, and we launched promptly, with 6 people on board plus a delightful guide (Greg). Being my first river trip, I had no idea what to expect, but everything was provided. You really just need a camera, a water bottle, and sun protection- the rest is seen by Wild Rivers. Plenty of snacks were on hand, and when we docked in a remote part of the San Juan canyon, Greg whipped up a ton of veggies, tortillas and meat, sliced fruit and cookies, and veggies, and let us go to town. There's plenty of water on board and he had binoculars so we could see the Bighorn Sheep or anything else that catches our fancy. What you'll notice on this trip is how attentive your guide is to you- I will presume the other guides are too- he observes if you're taking a photo or seeing something that interests you, because he slows the motor or turns around to give you a chance to see or photograph, and periodically he turns the boat around for views. Come expecting to see plenty of cool fossils, Native American sites on Comb Ridge, rock art, and absolutely stunning views in near total isolation in the canyon. Apart from other boaters and some hikers, you may have the canyon alone with just the purr of the motor on the boat and the amazing sound of the river as you cruise on your way Excellent trip and they had us out and back to our hotels promptly by 5 pm. I'll be looking at a 3-day trip in the future. read more

Four Corner Adventures, Dallon and Bobby are the Best... We were staying a couple nights, camping in Monument Valley in August. It was hot. Knowing the San Juan River was within 20 miles, I with my daughter even made the drive to find a swim hole to get a break from the heat. That evening my mind landed on maybe a calm river tour was available and could be arranged. In haste I called Four corners around 6 pm, way after their closing time. Lo and behold, Dallon answered. He suggested we self guide ourselves down a 5 mile stretch (waters were calm), and he'd arrange Bobby to meet us, rent us the kayaks and drive us to the putin location (with equipment, a tutorial and encouragement). This was an awesome half day experience and Dallon and Bobby accommodated us in making this happen in less than 15 hours from calling them after their working hours. Bobby was there to meet and assist us at the take out location and allow us a little time to play in the water before taking us back to their store and our car. read more

I have been lucky enough to go on four WR three-day trips down the San Juan River during the summers of 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012. Each time, I have been the leader of 10-12 high school students from all over the world and each time, without exception, every member of WR has been fantastic. The guides are friendly and helpful, from telling us the different theories concerning the meanings of the pictograms to helping with minor first aid issues. The office staff is accommodating, even when faced with nearly last minute inconvenience (last year I had three vegetarians and three students with varying levels of gluten intolerance, all of whom came off the river on the last day having eaten well). I can't imagine the other reviewer is even talking about the same company. I love these folks! read more

Spent 3 days, 2 nights out on the river. I was able to see wild horses, turkeys, coyotes, rams, blue heron, red hawk tail, & jackasses! My guide was awesome he made us awesome meals & didn't forget the wine. Since I'm from Phoenix & it's super cold for me up here, the wine helped a little in keeping me warm. It was the best time of my life with my kids. We made stops at different sites. Our guide showed us some cool geological stuff, some ruins, some hiking, all f-u-n. After all was done we ate at a local steak house after helping our guide load up the boat. I'd definitely do it again! Thx Marcus (guide) for the good times. read more

DO NOT TRUST YOUR VACATION TO THIS UNPROFESSIONAL OUTFITTER Let me start by saying that I have taken more than a dozen trips with outfitters and most of them are extremely professional and do everything they can to make your trip the best it can be. Wild Rivers is NOT one of those. In February, we booked a 4 day trip on the San Juan for mid-May. The trip was cancelled because no one else signed up for it. That's not unusual. What is unusual is that Wild Rivers never told us the trip was cancelled. No phone call, no email, nothing. 1 1/2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave we called them - just to check in and see if they had any last minute instructions for us. That's when we found out the trip was cancelled. We've taken vacation time off from work, made travel plans, reserved hotels, etc. Were they waiting for us to show up in Bluff Utah before we found out? I find it unbelievable that an outfitter could be so unprofessional and strongly recommend you look elsewhere when planning your vacation. Scheduling a trip with Wild Rivers could leave you as angry and disappointed as I am. read more

Wild Rivers Expeditions outfitted a portion of our private trip in April, provided shuttle services for most of the group, and shuttled a private vehicle for the others. The equipment was as described: good, and in good repair. The above-and-beyond part of Wild Rivers Expeditions' service began when our fully-loaded private vehicle broke down after leaving the river. Louis and Emmanuel were resourceful with troubleshooting and tow-truck ideas, and were considerate in ensuring that the rest of the group remained comfortable in the desert sun. Most importantly, they conveyed exemplary professionalism in wanting to keep the group together. Dallin's authorization (maybe his idea?) to have them drop their equipment trailer and tow us 5 1/2 miles to pavement was a lifesaver - without that we would not have been able to find a tow on Easter Sunday (we could not find a tow truck willing to go off pavement). Based on our experience, I wholeheartedly recommend Wild Rivers Expeditions for rental gear and shuttle services!! read more

While our guides Aaron and Liam were outstanding, Wild River Expeditions itself cold use some help. About half the meals were fine, but the other half were either short on food or provided food that was just wildly inappropriate. Instead of power bars, dried fruit & nuts or healthy snacks we were mostly provided potato chips, pretzels or candies for snacks. One day we were sent on a full day hike and the lunch that was provided was crackers and leftover dip from the night before. Rafting food is usually plentiful and good, but after a while on this trip one realized that it was important to be in the food line early if you wanted to get an adequate serving. Organization, in general, just was not the strong point and the final insult came when we unloaded at the take out, a windy spot with no shelter from the sun, and our transportation back to our cars was almost 2 hours late. The owner of the company, who was providing the transportation, never bothered to explain or apologize in any way leaving some of us scrambling to try and make our plane flights out of Salt Lake. read more

In April of 2017, Wild River Expeditions provided raft rental gear and shuttles for our trip down the San Juan River in Southeastern Utah. Throughout the process, we found WRE personnel to be knowledgeable, helpful, and easy to work with. We changed our reservation several times, including at the last minute, but it was never an issue. The gear itself was first rate and exceeded our expectations (an important detail on a wilderness trip). Our many questions (whether by telephone or e-mail) were answered promptly and accurately. When we arrived, the gear was ready, clean and in excellent shape. Most significantly, WRE went out of their way to help us when one of our vehicles (not theirs) broke down in a very remote location. On Easter Sunday, no less, WRE personnel abandoned their own personal plans and missed time with their families in order to assist us in completing our journey. Without their help, we would literally have had to spend the night in the desert. Their kindness and ingenuity was greatly appreciated. I recommend the services of WRE without hesitation. read more

We took a group of 11 family members on a one day San Juan River float trip and it was tthe best and funnest thing we did all week! We had two boats guided by Chris and Louis, and they were both phenomally well informed, entertaining, and just plain amazing. Louis was in the lead boat and spotted no less then 15 big horn sheep, several wild burros, and lots of wild horses. His eye sight was amazing! And it seemed that he had a great story for every section of the river. His background as a geologist, native american, and a local who has been living and hiking the area for decades made his running commentary about the wildlife, geology, native ruins, and historical facts a truly amazing experience. We are already planning to come back next year with some European friends who asked us for a recommendation for a great US outdoor destination. We naturally recommended Bluff!
