This included a power upgrade for our home, wiring, outlets, light installation, etc. They also upgraded our outside lighting. JJRS communicated well throughout the project, we're on time, showed great attention to all details, and finished within our project timeline. I highly recommend them!

We moved into a space that was not initially outfitted for housing a printshop, but he transformed it into a fully functioning space! He did a ton of work for our business - which included assessing the abilities of our electrical panel, explaining and upgrading the panel and the electrical in our old, 1920s building. He wired our 6 presses, re-wired all our lighting and installed electrical outlets throughout our 4,000 sq ft space. He worked with us to meet all our businesses needs and exceeded our expectations with every project. He also worked with another contractor to install a neon sign on our facade as well as exterior lights. He never cut any corners, even if it meant more work for him. You could tell it brings him great pride to do things the right way, and I have to admit I've never looked at electrical work before and thought it was "pretty". His attention to detail and level of organization is incredible. After he was finished with our business, we hired him to do a few smaller electrical projects in our home. He takes the time to explain things, takes the time to get the job done right, and takes the time to make sure you are 100% satisfied. I am always happy to refer people that I believe do honest and amazing work, and its an honor recommend JJRS electrical!

We hired Downtown Electric to retrofit twelve sub panels and replace one sub panel in an apartment…read morebuilding. Twelve of them were bid at $750 each. The one new panel was bid at $1800 because it had more circuit breakers requiring a larger panel. Upon completion of the work I noticed the one additional panel was not replaced as per the estimate, but instead retrofitted exactly like the other twelve with the addition of two spare,(not in use) circuit breakers. When I called to ask the owner Joey Bloomquist about it he attempted to justify,(or confuse me) with some excuse about how he figured out a way to make it work, and then agreed to adjust the estimate and subtract $800, (still $250 higher than the other panels) but only because he got called out, not because it was the right thing to do. If I hadn't said anything he would have let us pay the full $1800 for it. My focus is still on the estimate. The $500 permit charge sounds way too high. I looked it up online which was dated three days after the work was completed and learned it was only $183. (I'm thinking this guy really has some nerve. First the $1050 overcharge and now another $317!) I'm feeling personally insulted now. Keep in mind, the estimate says,"REIMBURSE PERMIT CHARGE... $500." Maybe this is worded too vaguely and should be clarified because this sounds like he's claiming he paid Regional $500 for the permit which is obviously not true. I called to ask him why he overcharged $317 and I finally get a call back with the hidden charges explanation. "I had to go to the regional office"..." I had to draw pictures"... "I had to discuss the job"... "I had to do load calculations"..."I usually charge $1000 for this,"(he wouldn't have gotten the work). None of the other contractors estimates showed any of these charges so it just sounded like more BS. His estimate was within range of the other two closest bids. The only reason he got the work is because of the cleaner retrofit vs the other bids which were for new panels. It feels like Mr. Bloomquist saw me as an easy pushover he could squeeze some extra money out of and I wouldn't even know it. Maybe it wasn't just me, maybe this is a common business practice with this company. I never expected so much shade from a company whose profession is lighting. You would think that doing $10,000 worth of business with him would earn a little more gratitude than disrespect.

I have this time stamped on my phone. He arrived about 10 minutes later. After he arrived he started looking at the issue and stated he did not know why my camera wasn't working and wasn't sure about what was causing the problem. Turns out it wasn't the outlet. I popped out the battery on my camera and reinstalled it and it started working again. So I fixed the issue. He then started to talk about other things and he was standing at the door writing up my invoice. I looked at the clock and it was 12:30. It took him a few minutes to write the invoice up, which is funny because there are only a few sentences on the invoice. He billed me $210 for quantity of 1. I assume that means one hour. That is a lot for one hour, especially since he didn't fix anything. There is also a charge of $39 for a trip fee and a $14 admin fee. None of these charges were discussed with me ahead of time. He ended up charging me $263 for less than an hours work and he did not even fix the issue. I fixed it. I was also going to get an estimate of doing work at another place I own. We drove there and I asked Peter if he wanted to do the estimate or do a small repair first. He said he would do the repair first since he already started the clock on that job. He was not even out of the car yet and he is billing me. This annoyed me because he already over billed me at the first house. I told him to forget it and I would not have him do the repair or give me an estimate since he already over billed me on the first issue. We were walking away and in front of my tenant Peter proceeds to ask me about the value of my house and asked about the neighborhood. I was shocked he even knew the value of my house and I am not sure why that was relevant unless he was using it for his pricing and how much he would charge me. I certainly didn't appreciate him discussing the value of my house in front of my tenants. This was extremely inappropriate and irrelevant and I was surprised about the conversation. The entire interaction felt unprofessional and I don't feel like I got my moneys worth. I will never use this company again.
