I was assured there was no rush and to take all the time I needed. They would call me to check how I was doing during this time. I was given cell phone numbers to reach out anytime i had questions or concerns no matter what time it was. They helped me find a grave site I could afford and gave me referral for his monument. They were extremely accommodating of my family and friends for visitation and funeral services. I was allowed to bring my husbands dog into the funeral home to tell her daddy bye. I really appreciate all the support from these people during this difficult time. They really care about people. If you are thinking about pre planning, please keep this business in mind.

A week ago, I attended my mother-in-law's funeral. At my father-in-law's request, I adjusted,…read morecropped, and made other necessary adjustments to the photos to be uploaded to the funeral home's website for a slide presentation memorial as part of the funeral package the family had purchased. The funeral home's upload portal was easy to use and had an option whereby one could add captions as desired. I chose to add two captions--both of which were directions to the person who would handle the download and final creation of the slide presentation. My caption/instructions were that one of the photos should be at the beginning of the presentation and the other should be in the middle. Said captions also included instructions to delete them. Because I've worked in the graphics industry for decades and have built up a healthy professional paranoia, I asked my wife to call the contact person to explain what I'd done and confirm that they would follow the instructions and delete the captions. I was in the car with her when she made the call, so I know the contact person did indeed understand and agree to the request. On the day of the funeral, we arrived early to bring food for the family and put that in a luncheon area set aside for such. I noted then that there was a rather lackadaisical atmosphere among the funeral home workers, but didn't immediately think anything of it. Then someone handed me the printed program for the funeral. I scanned through it and immediately found a grammatical error in the text. The line as printed was "I heart no more"; it should have said, "I hurt no more". Further investigation revealed that the poem had been given as a print-out to the funeral home personnel and must perforce have been typed in by hand by a funeral home employee. So, lack of proofreading--a simple enough thing for a half-page program. At this point, I'm beginning to wonder about that slide presentation. Sure enough, instructions were half-followed. One of the captions was removed, the other was there, bold as you please. Now, either of these things alone, I'd be willing to give a pass. But the two coupled with the lackadaisical attitude I noted earlier? A family spends upward of $30,000 for the dignity of their loved one's memorial service and has a reasonable expectation of professional service. These two instances are surely some of the easiest portions of the service to provide a grieving customer. And if you consider that these are only the visible mistakes in care, you must also wonder what has occurred behind the scenes which would give one pause. I think this was negligent behavior and I suggest that if you are looking for a funeral home which will get things right, you should indeed look elsewhere.

I "shopped" around visiting and talking to funeral homes to get the best value. I selected Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel and I have never regretted it. Recently a family member passed away and North chapel did the service. We couldn't be happier. I would highly recommend them.
