They take the time to educate agents and buyers so they are fully aware of the findings, offer buyers after service support and even return to double check something if the buyer needs further explanation. Most agents have a very short list of preferred inspectors who meet our criteria and hopefully work for their client, the buyer. There are other good inspectors who don't make our list for various reasons and others who just don't make the list. I had always considered myself as a handyman around the house, but boy did I learn things from him. Peter Gillespie is the best inspector I have ever had. We hired him twice in one week. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. For all you impatient people like myself: he takes a loooong time. This is a good thing! He goes over the inside and outside of the home with a fine tooth comb. We have worked with over a dozen inspectors over the past 10 years and Peter is by far the best. (One inspector we hired didn't have a camera or a flashlight or measuring tape with him - he didn't even run a tap or flush a toilet!!!) He is well educated and I think the best part is that he has a contractor/builder background so he knows what to look for, especially for places that builders may have cut corners. The report that he gives after the inspection is WOW!! There are close up pictures of the area that is being inspected, with a rating of it and whether or not it is a high concern or a low concern. So, you can go through the report (which he sends within hours of the inspection!) and really work out a budget of what you will have to pay to get the property up to standard. He is the best. And given the fact that this is the biggest investment of your life, you MUST get an inspection. I would never consider using any other company other than Brass Tacks.
