Bountiful Blessings Farm - 30 pints of organic Tennessee strawberries, to be fair only I'm keeping 15, nor sure what I got myself in to. Yay freezers!

Buying a share from BBF was probably the best decision I made this past Spring. I was so excited to…read moredo it that I kept checking their website every day to find out when they were going to open the online payment option. My boyfriend and I went with the half-bushel for summer which we pick up every other week at the 12South Farmers Market. I love that they offer a payment plan, you commit to paying the whole price but they automatically deduct it from your bank account over a period of months to help split it up. We have not been disappointed with any delivery. The produce is ridiculously fresh and very clean. Another word that comes to mind is variety: kohlrabi, greens, beets, cauliflower, green beans, leaks, green onions, eggplants, kale, fresh herbs, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, rainbow chard, zucchini, hot peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, bok choy, lettuces, squash, garlic, and the best strawberries ever! We have friends who also get the 1/2 bushel on the opposite week to us and it's sooo much fun to compare and talk recipes. Our friends were able to go to the farm tour and said the farm itself is gorgeous. I guess they have a natural spring too which can make a big difference to how produce tastes, it's also all certified organic - Sweet! The family is very communicative via email about how things are going down on the farm, although this year has been a challenge for them since it's been so cool and wet, they let us know what's going on and they don't ever sound desperate or upset. That's what has been the most important thing to me, their honesty and communication. Some weeks our bushel is rather meek, but they make up for it the next week with extras. Their website is very descriptive and provides a lot of information about how CSAs work and how they run the farm. The older kids run the market table at 12South and they are sun kissed, beautiful and so friendly and welcoming. Seriously I feel like this families outlook, dedication, and warmth make the produce that much more wonderful! Can't wait to sign up for their Winter CSA soon!

6 stars if possible.. Let me start off by saying we JUST…read moremoved here from CA so we are trying to get our bearings straight around this area and its businesses. We wanted to start a big project outside our home removing rock and shrubs and replacing it with edging, new rock, etc. and we were referred to Green Valley Nursery to purchase what we need. I usually try to do all this work myself but lately, it has been harder to do so but was going to attack this project on my own. We visited the nursery and talked to a nice gentleman named Ken (Don't tell him I called him nice, it will go to his head) , who gave me a quote for the rock and materials we needed. Ken asked me what we had planned and offered to drive out and look and offer suggestions and told me he has a team of guys that can help too. OK, this just does not happen in CA, you are lucky to find help getting your supplies at times. Ken drove out that day and took a look around and gave me a quote and a quote to have his team do the work. Though it was a big cost to us ( just because we are from CA does not mean we have $ ) it was a big project and I soon realized I could not do this alone. I contacted Ken to have his team do the work for us. One of the first times I have ever gone in blind to a project like this mind you, so we had our fingers crossed and prayed some as well, Once the team started the project, his team including supervisor Tony and his helpers, from start to finish were professional, courteous, and performed better than expected and feel this was money well spent (kinda wonder if Ken lost $ on the deal based on how well the job was done, but again, no one tell him please). I cannot thank you and them enough! I would and will recommend Ken and his team to anyone that asks for landscaping help. Ken and the crew at Green Valley Nursery have a lifelong customer and hopefully a friend in Ken. Thank you for making our move to AL a bit less concerning.

Very good selection of all kinds of plants shrubs and trees…read more They have a landscape office, you might want to check it out.

A great place to get personalized service. After just a few visits they are greeting you by name…read more Steaks, chops, bacon, ham and roasts cut to your specs. Best breakfast sausage in town. They offer animal slaughter and preparation of the resulting products. There are truly "country" items here that you can't find at the grocery store. Real lard. Rendered fat that hasn't been processed, cleaned, homogenized or whatever other processes store bought lard goes through. Certain days, and while supplies last, pork rinds (cracklin', skins, chicharrones). Locally harvested honey. They don't offer a large selection of beef steak, but what they do offer has always been high quality. I wish they offered New York Strip. I get bacon ends and pieces, by the pound, to use for various things in the kitchen. Wonderful for rendering in an iron skillet and cooking onions in it, before adding to pinto beans or other dishes. Running it through a meat grinder to add to raw cat food. (They were able to procure a couple beef hearts for me to use in cat food making). I can usually walk in and get a variety of meats, cut my way, and then go to a grocery store for miscellaneous items needed to turn it all into wonderful meals. They offer pulled pork (isn't smoked) as well as, slug burger meat mixture http://www.slugburgerfestival.com/what-are-slugburgers/

I purchased a half cow from Rickman's based on the excellent experience I had with them last year…read more At that time, the product quality and customer service were both outstanding. Unfortunately, this most recent purchase was a major disappointment. The ground beef is significantly overworked, with a texture more like paste than proper ground beef. It has an unusually soft, almost mushy consistency, and the meat-to-fat ratio also seems off. While cooking, I have had to drain excessive amounts of grease. The flavor is acceptable, but the texture is often mealy and unpleasant. I contacted the butcher to provide feedback. I was not seeking a replacement for the roughly 120 pounds of ground beef I received. I simply wanted acknowledgment of the issue and reassurance that steps would be taken to prevent it from happening again. Instead, I was told the texture was the result of the cow's genetics. I found that explanation difficult to accept, as texture issues of this nature are typically associated with processing and preparation. Rather than addressing the concern, the response appeared to shift responsibility away from the butcher and onto the rancher. What disappointed me most was not the product itself, but the handling of the concern. A sincere acknowledgment and a willingness to discuss the issue would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, based on both the product quality and the customer service response, I will not be making future purchases from Rickman's.
