Management hires unqualified care givers and then just fires them. This was very detrimental to our child's development - especially since he was being potty trained (at least at home. The school was just confusing for him) I also feel that the facility was not very clean, especially now having experience elsewhere. Our child constantly had diarrhea, developed warts, and was sick more than normal. Between the "dirty" classrooms, unqualified staff, poor food, and horrible management, I would NEVER recommend this place to any family. Erin Groves was awful to work with. She lied to parents and staff (I was told this by the people who were watching my child) and was hypocritical about discussing behavior of children. When my son was bitten multiple times by the same child (hers, as the staff in Babyland told me), she would lie about the situation and place blame on other children, including my own. Staff were afraid of her and allowed exceptions for her daughter that would have had other families kicked out. If I can give any advice to parents looking for childcare, please take your business elsewhere. This is not a good environment - physically and emotionally/mentally - and is not nearly as safe as other centers. (There is no lock on the door and visitors are free to roam wherever and whenever they please.) **Update. To follow up from below. It was 2 years ago, so that goes to sho that turnover is high. There are some good teachers there, though. In the baby room, we liked our son's teacher. The two rooms after that were great. But the top management was the biggest issue I dealt with while there. There was some communication, but it was minimal. We were told by the office that we should have professional help with our child. Our pediatrician never said this to us. And then one friday, we received a call to pick up our child and not to return. (So how does a family handle Monday morning with work? We were obviously in daycare because that was our option. This all happened after my husband and I started to question staff turnover, missing diapers/supplies for our son, safety and cleanliness, and why "incident reports" were being issued.) Now, I gave it some time, and we have had NO issues since at another, facility. And one that is willing to participate in step up to quality (5 star rated). We were also never given any information on financial assistance.

My daughter is an 8th grader this year at Hathaway Brown middle school and she has been telling me how at lunch her and her eight friends want to sit together. So they have been sitting at two connected tables that equal eight seats for each girl (apparently this table has always been like this). But suddenly they've been noticing that the other half of there table keeps getting moved to be apart of another half table, so they keep having to move the other half table back and forth every lunch day just so they can sit together. (They can't switch to another table because all of them are taken up by different grades/people). So one day my daughters friend is moving the other half of the table like usual and then out of no where apparently a teacher comes screaming at her to not move the table and that nobody can move tables anymore. So now there is only room for six girls at the table so they decide to grab two more chairs to squeeze into the table to include there two friends, that is very nice. But the same teacher comes out and starts screaming at the same girl again about how they cannot move chairs at all. Why does it matter so much? My daughter said that the teacher said that it's ok the six girls will sit at a table and the other two will sit at a table alone be cause they need to engage with other kids an snake new friends. I'm sorry but that is excluding two girls from the rest of there friend group and that's also breaking apart a strong friendship with the girls. It's the 8th grade everybody has there groups by now and they know who they like and don't like, and if they don't have that then there is definitely something wrong with your kid. Hathaway Brown School is a good school but they are just so weird about the whole friend thing, don't send your kids here if you don't like this.

But if you have an average child who is a hard worker or, heaven forbid, and under-performing child, this will be an extremely stressful environment for your her. My daughter has some special challenges to learning which were made extremely clear before we enrolled her. With the cost of the school (close to or exceeding tuition for an undergraduate degree each year) I was genuinely shocked that Hathaway Brown's first solution was to ask us for more money for a private tutor within a month ! If you have a child with additional needs, do not go to the school. I do believe that the teachers genuinely care about the students, other than one of the female math teachers who is basically a bully. Summary statement: if you're the kind of parent who has to ensure your child has every advantage to get into an Ivy League school at any cost, send her to HB. Just realize that the school caters to superstars. And if your daughter is not one of them, she will be made to feel pretty bad about herself and placed under extreme pressure until you unenroll her or comply with paying for multiple extracurricular tutors.

Our experience has been great, Loren and Deonte are easy to work with and can answer and questions you may have. As a first time parent I was very apprehensive about putting my one and only child into a daycare let alone a home daycare. So we, my boyfriend and I, met with Loren on a few occasions before we even signed him up. The first visit was us checking out the environment where our child would be spending his day. The home was well kept, open spaces, not cluttered at all, the upstairs has great playrooms with lots of toys. The second visit was a meet and greet with my baby and Loren and Deonte as to how well they got along, no issues. Third visit was us signing the paperwork and bringing the essentials for his stay with them. FYI since it is a home daycare we had to provide a playpen for him to sleep and a stroller and car seat, this shocked us as we didn't know that being first time parents, luckily we received 2 playpens at our babyshower. They can be very flexible, all you have to do is let them know in advance, which isn't asking for much. Our son is very happy there, when we pick him up, he doesn't want to leave. And that tells us all we need to know. The only issues is that since it is a home daycare, you will need a backup for daycare, they are closed all the holidays even the ones your company doesn't acknowledge so either have a backup or be ready to use your vacation time to stay home. And if they get sick or are unable to take care of the children they usually try to let you know in advance but it's typically a 24 hour notice or shorter so have someone on standby.

The daycare has responded well by enhancing their security system and putting redundant staffing policies in place to minimize any risk to your child. The Children's Center at the First Baptist Church has been wonderful with our daughter! The facility is well-managed and the staff are friendly and capable. They are very accommodating with any specific care instructions that you have, and they are proactive about communicating daily issues / tips for parents. The class sizes are small, with a high teacher-to-student ratio, and the older children get to take advantage of the outdoor playground when the weather gets nicer. They also went above-and-beyond by accommodating unusual scheduling requests from our family when our career/housing situation was in flux. Also FYI you do not have to be affiliated with the church in any way to bring your child to the daycare.

The owner Undra Dishmon has gone over and beyond in ensuring kids are well kept and in a good atmosphere. She ensures the teachers are compassionate and fit for the job. Undra is constantly trying to find creative ways in child enrichment. There is even talk of musicians coming to introduce instruments to the children. I was really anxious about dropping my child off, due to the new covid rules; parents cant go into the classroom, but the staff are always pleasant and understanding and they have made the transition really easy for me and my little girl. I hate leaving her but I feel good about her time at KinderCare. I know she's in great hands, and I know she's learning because I hear her singing new songs everyday. My little one also has a lot of allergies, and they have lifted a huge weight of my shoulders by catering to her dietary needs. The staff is also very responsive if you like to check in on your child or have question, they respond right away. The facility is also really nice! I spent a long time searching for a daycare, and this was by far the best with their outdoor space, playground areas, and spacious classrooms. All the classrooms have nice big windows and are neat, clean and not overwhelmed w cluttered and distractions; that was important to me as I feel too much stuff overloads kids. I also love that they decorate outdoors and do fun stuff for the kids & parents. I am very happy and thankful to have found KinderCare. When enrolling my daughter it went very well everyone was nice and I felt very confident sending…read moreher. She was only to attend for a month due to a temporary schedule child at work. After two weeks I pulled her out...this was due to questionable actions from one of the care staff. I was running late for work and did not have time to feed my daughter as I usually do, so I decided that she would be fine with breakfast at the center. When I arrive there was two other girls eating a full bowl of cereal, I explain to the care provider my situation and she responded "I can see if I can get her a pack of crackers we are done with breakfast." I was truly disappointed that she could not give my daughter a simple bowl of cereal as I see the other girls eating but yet she can "Maybe" give my daughter two graham crackers?! I also was upset when the same care provider was very rude towards another kid attending there. I literally paid a full week in advance and took my daughter out within two days of that week! I did not ask for a refund nor then they bother to offer one back either. I just felt very uncomfortable with this place and felt I made the best decision.
