Cleveland Montessori stays true to the Montessori method outlined by Dr. Montessori, and in these turbulent times, especially in the public education and curriculum space, it is comforting to know that my daughter is learning from the time-tested materials. The other thing that is important to me about raising children in our culture is that the school is screen-free. The children have a warm, analog space to love to learn for a lifetime. Lastly, it has to be noted that the school is housed in a century-old building with character, nestled in historic Little Italy blocks away from University Circle, and they walk (in all weather) to a fabulous playground in the neighborhood! While I might have enjoyed the performance much more, I was so uncomfortable in the seat, I could barely pay attention. I'm under 5'3" and my knees were touching the back of the seat in front of me and while I am a woman of some size, I could not stretch my legs out in the least, my arms on both sides were plastered next to my neighbor's arms and the seats were low to the point I felt like I was nearly in a squatting position. I can't imagine how much more uncomfortable a taller or larger person would be. I was counting the minutes for the performance to end and was so delighted to leave the torture of those seats, I skipped the discussion session. Whoever configured those seats, obviously didn't sit in them for a nearly 3 hour show. I was with a group of 4 and we all agreed that as much as we love to support community theater, we would never attend again unless we sit in the front or handicapped rows. You would need to be the size of a child to be comfortable sitting anywhere else in that theater.

The video of the 2 year toddler being repeatedly hit by the daycare worker is appalling,…read moreheartbreaking, and it angers me to my core. My son is nearly 2 years old and he started Pre-school a week ago. I removed him from the school because his Lead Teacher sent home a progress report where she had misspelled basic words, and had written several sentences with several grammatical errors. This particular pre-school was $945/mo. for 3 days a week. For me, this is completely unacceptable for the amount of money I had to pay. After watching this video, it further confirms that pre-schools/daycare schools are in need of ongoing investigations by their respective state authorities, parents, and licensing agencies. Most of the educators at this level are not qualified, and are not regularly monitored by the schools directors. They should receive ongoing drug tests, and random classroom checks by the school's directors. The woman in this video is mean, evil, and a child abuser. The other woman watching this "teacher" beat this 2 year old child should be fired as well. I hope this school is shut down for good, and I pray no other baby is enduring such abuse. It truly breaks my heart into a million pieces.
