We took a short trip via the fast ferry from Boston to Salem. We only had a bit more than 1/2 day to visit, so we opted for a short (1 hour ) walking tour. Our tour guide was Mischa and he did a great job. Mischa had a wealth of information about Salem and the tragic stories of the witch trials. We walked to many spots and listened to the history of each location. Mischa was friendly, had a lot to share and overall was a great guide. We expected the tour to run 1 hour, but Mischa went well over that, so if you have transportation lined up already, don't plan on getting out on time. Not sure if other guides go over the time, but we opted to stay on the tour and skip our return ferry ride, because we didn't want to miss anything . We just planned on the spot to take the T back to town.(which Mischa was nice enough to give us info and where to find it). What to know if you choose this tour; We were offered a bottles water at the start location. We didn't stop for the bathroom along the way, so go right before you begin the tour :)
Bring walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, and extra water. There is a short walk to each spot and a lot of standing while listening once you get to the location . I personally tip any guide for tours I take even though not required. I saw a few others do it, but not many and I think it is appreciated.
If you like learning about history and have interest in this subject, take this tour. We previously went to the Salem museum and I recommend that you go to that museum as a first-timer if you've never been to Salem. Enjoy read more
