The menu is pub grub and I thought pretty average to be honest. Of the three meals we had I thought two were pretty ordinary. The atmosphere however is great and it is well patronised by locals. The toilets are diabolical but no worse than most pubs, and a nice looking beer garden must be good in summer.

They serve hot food and some cobs and snacks during the day. Lots of people rave about the quality of the ales on tap including Batham's, Enville and Holden's. Yet The Waterfall can get very busy at times and it is tricky to get served and find a seat.

We visited with some friends so there were 4 Adults and 4 kids on a Saturday afternoon we only had 2 drinks each and the bar bill was twice the cost of the food. The staff were very attentive without being over powering, the young lady tending to us was very pleasant and struck up a rapport with us very quickly. The bar staff have an endless knowledge of the products on sale and are obviously all real ale fanatics themselves. They are very friendly, polite and easy to approach. If you haven't experienced the Black Country way of drinking then give it a go :) The pub usually just has the landlord as bar staff (though at busier times you may see an extra helper) who knows all the locals by both name and "usual" from the bar. Although on entry the bar is fairly basic lager, ale, stout, scratchings, crisps and house spirits it's the way the experience comes together; there's always a friendly vibe and a nod of "how do?" from the locals when you enter, the ale is near perfect from the taps every pint (also helped be being one of my favourite ales - Enville!). TV channels on the flat screen can be changed at request and if you don't fancy the wooden clad bar room there is the slightly plusher lounge or the smoking shelter / mini beer patio out back. Scary Canary is a cool little bar / venue at the top of Stourbridge High Street, housed in the…read moreformer McDonalds building. On entering through a fairly plain black door you walk upstairs to find yourself in a lovely room filled with quirky lighting, mis-matched chairs, tables and sofas and with loads of art by local artists on the walls, (most of it for sale). The venue regularly hosts gigs, film nights and quizzes with a different theme each week. Last time I did a film quiz there, one of the rounds was 'who can draw the best picture of Steve Buscemi'! The bar is well stocked with a good range of beers, wine and spirits and also sells snacks like crisps and nuts. It also has a really great sound system and a small area that serves as a stage and dance floor. I went to Scary Canary last night for a birthday party and had a great evening, I would really recommend it as an alternative to all of the chain / old man pubs that are in Stourbridge.
