This is the Asian version of WHS Smith in my view except this is an independent business. The…read moreproducts here are to educate us about the diverse cultures and religions in India. Not only do they sell books, they also sell CD-ROM's, devotional DVD's, Indian musical instruments as well as classical Indian music CD's. I did however find some sports quiz books along with some cookery books focusing on Indian food. Whilst in the shop, I did see a number of parents with their children. And I guess that this shop is aimed at parents who want to educate children about their religion and other religions. The DTF Asian Books and Musicals shop is not the biggest book store but there are so many books of different genres/religions to choose from. By visiting the website, you can at least get an idea of the products that can be found here. I can certainly see my mum coming here as she does like her religious books.

DTF Books is a unique stockist of Punjabi textbooks, fictional novels and factual books. They also supply books about the Indian subcontinent, Indian history and faiths and books written in Hindi. Moreover, you could purchase traditional Indian instruments from this compact yet fascinating shop. They specialise in handicrafts and goods for the Sikh community with pictures of the Sikh Gurus and temples, religious jewellery, music and hymns. It's a family-run business with a homely feel to the place. You're welcomed with a humble reception and the offer of expert customer service. The shop is located on the busy Soho Road where on-street parking is provided but hardly every available. You're better off finding side-street parking, which can also be tricky, or paying around 20p for an hour's parking on Waverhill Road.

For those unfamiliar, it's a bit like Cash Converters but focuses mostly on DVDs, computer games, mobile phones and other small electro-gadgets (iPods etc.) For those unfamiliar with Cash Converters, CeX is basically a great shop rammed full of cheap, pre-owned DVDs etc. There's loads of bargains to be had, such as series (I try not to say 'season', damn Americanisms!) box sets of things like 24 and Family Guy for between £6 and a tenner. I'm pathalogically bad at computer games that came out after Donkey Kong 64, so I couldn't tell you much about what games they've got, but there's a lot of them. The selection of films they stock, considering they're all pre-owned is vast - everything from blockbusters to obscurities. There's also a membership scheme in the form of a small key fob which lets you exchange goods. Before this place there was practically nowhere to buy DVDs in West Brom, certainly nowhere dedicated. Now all it needs is a bookshop and a proper record shop.

There are also Hindi films on DVD to buy as well. From classics to the latest films, you can buy film soundtracks on CD. I am into my Asian films which is why I spent more time in here than in a Ladies retail clothing shop. The CD's and DVD's are at reasonable prices and they are definitely affordable. I have brought one or two Bollywood film CD's from here and so have my family. I always enjoy coming here and will probably come back for more CD's. I do go to Leicester as well to purchase CD's whenever I am in the city. But this is the closest shop in terms of where I can buy Bollywood films on DVD and tracks on CD. Worth a visit.

They are quite pricey though with the simplest of invites starting at around £1.50 - and I do mean simple! Besides invitations, they sell some wedding accessories like trays and decorative items to compliment certain functions at Asian weddings. These are very pretty but also quite pricey. The shop divides into invitations towards the back and music at the front. The range covers Bollywood, Hindi pop, Pakistani, ghazals, bhangra, religious and soofi music. I was impressed at the box sets of old-school Bollywood music, which make a fantastic gift. The owner, Mr Singh, is very helpful and friendly. If you're looking for a particular album, he'll know straight away where to locate it or whether he could order it for you.
