Finally! A place by my house where I can get a GOOD FADE, quick and cheap! I almost couldn't find this place because it is so small and hidden in the corner of a shopping center. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the barber and sat in the chair within 2 seconds of walking through the door. I told him I wanted a high skin fade and he knew exactly what I was talking about. The past few months, I've been going to female stylists who claim they can do a fade and they've been failing miserably, one after the other. I knew it was about time to get my haircut by a guy... someone who specializes in guys' haircuts. Within 15 minutes, my haircut was done... fast, efficient, and great quality. I had a ton of time left to spare on my lunch break that I was able to get a haircut AND eat lunch! This will be my new go-to haircut place! read more

My son went there for his haircut. He lives on campus at UCSD and was happy to find a place he could walk to that was reasonably priced. They give student discounts and that helped my son w his budget for his hair. There's a chain for men's haircut at the next shopping center and he was going to go there but couldn't afford to pay over $35 for a men's hair cut. I was glad he found this place and the person who cut his hair was so nice! He was pleased with his hair cut and even got a picture with his barber. We love supporting small business and he will be a repeat customer. read more

Stumbled upon this hidden gem over 4 years ago and whenever I'm in the area in need of a haircut with some great conversation I stop in. This isn't just a place to go for a great cut but also you can get advice, life lessons and a bright spot to make your day better! Dominic is amazing! read more

Who's Next Barber Shop - We vibin'. Medium High-top skin fade. - Barbers Near Me - La Jolla, California

This was one of the best quick and easy haircuts I've ever received. The owner Dominic was lovely to talk to and full of wonderful wisdom. Support your local business by going to guys like him and you'll walk out with an awesome cut and smile on your face. read more

If you like a real barbershop and aren't a broke college kid, look elsewhere. Very nice man. Has the pedigree. I honestly feel at this point he's going through the motions. I got an awful cut (he cut my hairline super short so I have hair sticking up in every direction which will take months of growing to repair) and had much more interest in the parking lot security than he did me and my I contacted him (don't know his name because he never gave me it) about the quality of the cut and he never responded. If you like a real barbershop and appreciate experience look elsewhere. read more

Great fade in La Jolla!!! Probably the only one you will find in La Jolla. I'm so glad I found this place. I'm from New York so I'm definitely particular about my fades but after seeing Doms pics I knew I would get a legit fade. Pricing is definitely great too! read more

I'll start with the good. The barber seems like a very nice man, and was very easy to talk to, and the haircut was only $15 (student discount). However, the haircut was mediocre at best, and it took no more than 10 minutes. I felt rushed, and I didn't get the haircut that I necessarily wanted. I hate to give bad reviews, but I just don't think that my haircut deserves a better rating. read more

Really poor haircut that was really uneven on the fading area near the temple. The top was not cut evenly at all. The sideburns were just butchered. See photos. I'll have to live with it for the next 3 weeks until it grows back. read more

I noticed this barber shop while frequenting one of the other business in the plaza. It was a Sunday and they were closed so I took note of the phone number and decided to call them on Tuesday to inquire about pricing. The sign in the window read that they opened at 10:30 so I called at 11. No answer. I tried again at 11:30 and a few more times after 13:00. Still no answer. I drove by the following day during business hours and noticed several people in the establishment. While looking directly at the barber I called again from my car ..still no answer. I got out of the car and walked to the door and literally stood there for what seemed like a full minute waiting to be greeted. No hello, no welcome, no acknoledgment of any kind, nothing!! It was as though I didn't exist. This place is not bigger than a small closet so the barber was very clearly aware of my presence. I literally felt as though they had no interest in my business. Terrible experience!!!! read more

Excellent barber shop in an almost hidden location. I was surprised to find a black barber shop near my work in UTC on Yelp. Very professional business with emphasis on good customer service. Dom is a great person to talk to, he is very knowledge about history, politics, and culture. Highly recommended if you want a high quality haircut or beard trim at a good value. read more

the dopest shop in La Jolla, I looked around for a barber for a while and knew when I stepped into Who's Next Barber Shop this probably only place to get a proper haircut in La Jolla. The whole 9, a 10/10 experience. I'll be bacc soon read more

This barbershop is LEGIT, the owner Dominique (sp) is a great hair cutter, he lined me up nice and cut it just how I wanted it. He's also very friendly and social. Also, $5 off for military and students, so I definitely liked that! If you're in La Jolla, get a cut from this shop. Tip: Try to carry exact change if you can ($15-20$) read more

I have lived in San Diego for 7 years and I've been getting cut by Dom for 7 years, that should say it all. Coming down from the Bay, I was used to getting cut by true barbers and true barbershops. I went ONE time to some other place that cut hair (not a barbershop) and used the words "fade" and "taper" and they looked at me like I was crazy. Then I found Dom's shop and never left. Dom is a great barber and actually cares about his customers. Him and I text on a regular basis and he always responds when I try to hit him up for appointments. He also supports our service men and women and students, by giving them a discount on their cuts. Highly recommended. Great barber, great guy. read more

I just needed a clean up before meetings here in La Jolla. Found this place on yelp, it had gray reviews abs was close to where I was staying. I'm always a bit hesitant going to someplace new to get a hair cut, that too much would be cut off, not here. Dom had an amazing report with a customers of all ages, professions, military and business. An extremely knowledgeable guy. Worth a visit. read more

Just finished getting a cut! Got a nice cut for a good price. Fast and convenient! Keep in mind it's cash only, but there is a deli directly across and they have an ATM. I recommend this place! read more

1) Haircut: A+ 2) Ambiance: A+ 3) Friendliness: A+ 4) Professionalism: A+ 5) Customer Service: A+ Details: 1) Tell the hairstylist how you want your hair and it shall be done. It's refreshing to leave a haircut place looking sharp and feeling satisfied. 2) No fluff, just a skilled friendly barber and some chairs and magazines. 3) Always a pleasure to chat with Dominique 4) There is a strong sense of commitment to delivering quality hair cuts from a knowledgeable professional. 5) I try to be upfront about what I want in order to make the process efficient, but when I need some final adjustments, it's a great feeling to be able to count on respectful service. I've been here several times and I will be back! Also, as a former UCSD student, I used to get a discount, but honestly, the quality of work here is easily worth the full price, especially when you compare other chain hair salons like Supercuts and Fantastic Sams. They charge just as much but their quality and experience doesn't compare. read more

I went there at noon, Google and the website both said it was open, but it was not, what a waste of my time.

Greta place. Good conversation with Dom, good hair cut, good prices. The small little shop is great, very quick and well done! read more

See all

Called 3 times in the middle of the day today and left a voicemail...never heard back. Decided to walk in at 3:30 pm . Got turned away because he's going out of town and may not have answered "cuz his cousin was there" My 1st cut was decent but I needed to clean up my bald fade when I got home myself. read more

Great haircut for a great price. Dom is a veteran and a smart guy who always provides wisdom and advice while giving a top notch cut. My go to guy. Definitely recommend this place. read more

After reading the reviews on Yelp! I decided to go and check out the barbershop. This barber shop visit became a two part visit. The first time I went the barber gave me a haircut that I liked. However, he cut me when he gave me a hardline on the part and this part was actually really painful and is bloody now. Although the barber is friendly, it seems like he is just trying to get you in and out as quick as possible. The hardline is fairly straight but the blood and pain was definitely not worth it. read more

As a barber, this man is absolutely trash. Out of three chances that I've given this guy, NOT ONCE have I walked out from his barbershop to my car and thought, "man, this guy knows how to fade!" On the contrary--after every haircut, I've gone home frustrated and disappointed at the fact that this guy can't follow preschool-level instructions. After one of my visits, I combed my hair back and saw that he even left a clump of uncut hair on top--despite the fact that he used clippers and thus no freehand. So if all you're looking to get is your hair mowed off (half-assed, for that matter) with no regard to a semi-decent look, then come and get your hair shaved here with "Dom." Let me put it this way: his mediocre haircuts have convinced me to spend over $100 for Andis Masters hair clippers+guards to learn to fade my own hair from now until either I (or the clippers) ROT. What's laughable is the fact that he says he's been cutting students' hair at this barbershop for 10 years, because he still can't follow explicit instructions. The only reason he has good reviews and enough to make ends meet is because every year, a new wave of desperate UCSD students (inevitably in need of a haircut) stumble upon this barbershop since it's right off campus. As for his $15 "student discounts," I wouldn't even pay half that price to get another haircut from this sorry barber. But like I said, if all you want is your hair chopped off and you have no intent of wowing anybody with your new haircut, then go here and pay Dom $18+tip. But personally, I care about how I look and how I spend my money, so I will be cutting my own hair instead of wasting money with this sorry excuse of a barber. read more

Good guy to talk to but haircut seems rushed and he doesn't pay much attention to detail. It was an awful haircut and my hair ended up uneven and I had to go somewhere else to fix it. read more

So if you actually care about your hair this is the place to go. Do not settle for supercuts or some other place that will destroy your hair. The owner is friendly and very easy to talk to. So you do not have to deal with that awkward silence during the cut. I have been going here for almost 2 months and not once have I had any issues. Best hair place hands down in La Jolla area, and great for students and military. read more

My husband was looking for a barber close to our home. He wanted someone who knew what they were doing also at a reasonable price. Most salons want to charge $45 plus! He doesn't have that much hair! Anyway, we researched through YELP and found "Who's Next Barber" Dom, the owner, was absolutely charming and with a very friendly disposition! He's been doing this for over 20 years and knows his business! His "one man" shop is in a great corner of the center he's in. We didn't have to wait and my husband was very pleased with his cut. So was I. We are so happy to find find Dom and will be a regular! read more

Checked this place out since it was the only barbershop near UCSD while I was living on campus and didn't have a car. I asked for a basic combover with a high fade but he messed up my hair. Ended up going up as high as my cowlick and said he was done after only 15 minutes. I could tell he had preference over certain customers since there was some white guy in his mid 30s that went before me and received better customer service and he took a good 30 minutes to cut his hair versus skimping out on giving a college student a decent haircut. Would not recommend. You're better off going to the salon place on campus. read more

After searching for a barbershop in the area I found Dominic's place. There was a line but I waited and noticed the excelling service, funny small talk and quality of haircut. I enjoyed my time there and Dominic being a military man made sure my cut was neat my beard trimmed so I can properly attend a wedding looking good. Being from LA I can appreciate a good old time barbershop. This place will serve for all of my hair cutting needs down here in SD. read more

Did a great job on my hair cut. Very nice guy with great info on San Diego . Will be coming back

Went to get a haircut and it was 4:15 pm and he said I had to arrive at 4 pm for a haircut. The shop closes at 5 pm according to yelp.

Let me start off this way, this is the only barber I have not tipped in all my life. I made sure to tell him that I wanted the top untouched for I was growing it out for braids. As I was getting my cut I knew he went to high on the upper back part of my head. I had to get a bald fade with a 3 on top in order to fix this at a different barbershop. Will never go back! read more

It's very hard to find a black barber shop in the UTC/La Jolla area, this guy is AMAZING!! He is very affordable too and a really cool person, he is a vet and does a really good job with a bald fade which is hard to do. I've gone to other barbershops in the area and they claim to know how to fade but they do a terrible job. This guy is the real deal. read more

Best cuts in SD! He really takes his time to cut you exactly how you want. I Always leave satisfied and feeling fresh!

Easy in and out service. Very pleasant guy who knows how to cut hair. Gonna be a regular here!

I've been looking for a place to get my haircut near UCSD and I've definitely found it! Dom is super caring and has great conversations with the customers plus he gives a great haircut! 10/10 definitely going back. read more

Best haircut I've ever received, Dominic is a master of his craft, and also knows about literally every subject that has existed, which makes for interesting stories. read more

Not really sure what all the bashing is about, this is my favorite place to get a cut by far! I'm decently new to the SD area and Dom was the first guy I came across. He happened to be fairly close to my house so decided to give him a shot. Me being a very picky guy when it comes to haircuts, Dom did nothing short of outstanding work! It's rare when I walk away from a haircut liking the work but i've never been disappointed here. Plus, he's an extremely friendly guy and always seems to be pleased when he sees his familiar faces come in. Do yourself a favor and give Who's Next a shot! read more

It's a really pleasant experience at Who's Next Barber Shop. It's close to campus, the cut is well priced with the student discount, and the owner is very kind and makes comfortable conversation. He remembers past customers and he even remembered my friend and his friends from UCSD who've gotten their hair cut here. read more

This is the shop I have been looking for!! The barber here is the BEST!!! The best haircut and fade I've had in a while!!! GREAT CONVERSATION!! Clean shop and this barber works fast!!
