I was in Wrightwood today. I saw this neat shop from across the street and decided to go in and check it out. The clean layout of the store is what drew me in. It wasn't some froufrou bath and body boutique that reeked of overwhelming chemical "floral" fragrances. Visually, it was a refreshing palette of natural soaps, with the faint, natural scent of cleanliness. It was unpretentious and genuine, just like the owner and soap maker, Bill, who greeted me and had, on display, his artisanal handcrafting process in the rear section of the store, which I found intriguing to watch. I browsed through the soaps and read the ingredients. Every single one was quality stuff, natural botanical extracts and whatnot. Not one drop of harmful crap that cheap corporate soap manufacturers use. But what I loved best is that the scents aren't affectedly marketed to just a particular gender or demographic, but come in all sorts of scents that more appeal to individual tastes. I got fir needle, Australian sandalwood & Brazilian red clay, tobacco and bay leaf, frankincense and myrrh, etc. I have no desire to smell either leather and gunpowder after every shower, nor like a dainty or delicate flower. I just like soaps that do the job in getting you clean and have pleasant NATURAL scents. So, what I'm saying is: whatever floats your boat, he's got it here. I tried the fir needle when I got home and it is indeed a great product. Bill's also got a discount bin for "imperfect" soaps (the coloring or cut didn't come out like picture-perfect, but the product is still perfectly good, just minor cosmetic issues not warranting unnecessary waste). Get some quality stuff and help support an independent entrepreneur as well. And if you don't want to make the trek into the mountains, just order online. Love this place. It's a hidden gem up in Wrightwood village. Missed it my first time up there since they were closed. Second trip up, made it in time and I'm glad I did! I bought a few Plumeria bars and some bath bombs. Loved the Plumeria so much I wanted to get back and try more! Was slightly disappointed that the scent wasn't the same, but he said it could be that the oils used may have changed a little (and I'd blame covid to am extent there since my previous bars were before covid). Soap still smelled great, but it wasn't the same as before that I liked. I've also gotten sweety tahiti, aloe, and the almond, oatmeal, and honey soap. All were great. The aloe was a bit odd. It smelled fine when you smell the bar, but after using it on your skin, it had an odd... after scent? What I love about these soaps it that they leave your skin feeling fresh, clean, and moisturized without any residue. Definitely am a fan of these soaps, even though they are pricey compared to your typical store bought stuff, but the price is definitely worth it! read more

Soap as medicine for the body and the soul. I was experiencing some excema/psoriasis on my shins and the steroid cream the doctor prescribed wasn't helping and was actually "bleaching" the applied areas, which doesn't look too great on my freckled skin! I was pretty depressed and frustrated with the situation. Enter Whole Life Soaps. I began using these gentle, pure soaps (coconut lime and pine tar are favorites for this) and my condition improved immensely. Also, the "bleached" areas started to return to their natural state. As some of the reviews stated, these soaps are not cheap, but for how they are made and what they do I feel they're well worth the price. Obviously, in my case they're much less expensive than tubes of steroid cream (which didn't even work!). They're $7 a bar, but I would recommend getting the "3 for $20" deal to get acquainted. The bars are large and I cut them in half. They last a good while. Once you try these I think you'll never go back to the usual corporate concoctions that pass as soap. There are also all kinds of other products like liquid soaps, anti-perspirants, shampoo bars, lip balms and even "hipster beard oil". It seems like they're frequently coming up with new products. All are hand-made with care and only simple and natural ingredients. This place is a throwback to the days of artisanal craftsmanship and good old-fashioned pride and passion in what they do. In these days of mass-produced chemical "soaps" we're fortunate to have access to this kind of quality product. Next time you're up in magical Wrightwood pay them a visit or if you're out of the area use the website. I believe you'll be glad you did. read more

Loved this little shop! The owner greeted us, and gave us more information on the products he offered; soaps, lotion, candles, body sprays. I bought two handmade soaps, and I'm hooked! I won't purchase regular body wash anymore, these soaps are refreshing, they smell wonderful, and they're great on my skin. Definitely buying more in the future! read more

This shop is one of the most unique and fun little stores Wrightwood has to offer. I ventured there with my cousins back in December. Not only do they sell handmade soap products, but they also have things such as bath bombs and other things of this nature too. It was a fun shop to walk around in and to look at and smell all the wonderful soaps! I ended up purchasing a lavender soap bar and a bath bomb. Sure, some might report that it's a little bit expensive (around $6 or $7), I think I don't think it's awful considering the time, energy, and love that you can be assured went into the making of the products. All in all, this fairly new little store fits right in with Wrightwood, and I hope it stays for many years to come. read more
