YCA has been an excellent school for our children over the past two years. We moved our kids from a…read morepopular child care center, which was great, too, but the staff turnover rate was unfortunately high. YCA staff seems to be really happy and I believe most of them have a degree in early childhood education. Unique to their center, they have daily special classes (music, Spanish class, art) and as an OT I appreciate their emphasis on promoting independence in self-care tasks. They also support potty training as needed, use a well-established handwriting program for their preschool class, and are very strict when it comes to preventing food allergen exposure. And they must have incredible hygiene practices or great ventilation in their building because my kids rarely got sick after joining their center. Both my children love YCA, the teachers, and the friends they've made there.

The administration is amazing - Chia Pei and her team are caring, thorough, and very responsive. During the pandemic, they implemented strong guidelines that made me feel safe and know that my daughter would be safe going there. There was constant communication - a strength considering how much ambiguity there was to navigate the pandemic. I love that they use an app for communication and for pictures. There's also a journal report of how her day went, which helps since toddlers can't always verbalize well. The teachers there are also amazing. My daughter was cared for and I trusted these teachers entirely. They not only made learning fun, but also I nurtured her. She was able to experience the infant, Toddler 1, and Toddler 2 teachers. With each class, I was amazed at how much she grew. More importantly, I loved how happy she was. If you are considering this school, I cannot recommend it enough.

Our daughter, Aviana, joined Willow Tree in 2021, during COVID, as part of the first Tiger class…read morewhen she was three years old. After a wonderful nanny-share at home--where we could closely observe and control every aspect of her day--my wife and I were understandably nervous about transitioning her to preschool. We did extensive research and toured nearly ten preschools and daycares. Willow Tree immediately stood out. From the very beginning, it was clear that the director, Liu, and the entire staff were genuinely loving and attentive caregivers. From her first day, Aviana loved going to school. Her development accelerated noticeably--she made friends, gained confidence, and even happily ate the school-made lunches. We initially had questions about the Mandarin immersion program and whether it might delay Aviana's English development. Liu reassured us that the opposite would be true, explaining that children's brains at that age are "like sponges," capable of absorbing far more than we often realize. She was absolutely right. Aviana's English continued to flourish, and her Mandarin grew from zero to a working knowledge of the language--truly incredible. To sum it up: if we had to do it all over again, we would choose Willow Tree without hesitation. Two years later, we enrolled our younger daughter, Amelia, when she was just a year and a half old. She began in the Bunny class, moved on to Penguin, and is now in Tiger. She loves it. Her Mandarin is now as strong as her English, even though we speak only English at home. On more than one occasion, I've caught Amelia dreaming in Mandarin--a constant reminder of how much she has learned in such a short time. Willow Tree has provided an exceptional academic and developmental foundation for both of our girls, along with a truly welcoming and supportive community. As Amelia prepares to graduate, we know we'll remain connected through the friendships our daughters have built and the families we've come to know beyond the classroom. We couldn't be more grateful for Willow Tree.

The kids enjoy diverse, nutritious meals and plenty of snacks, and teachers can really spend quality time with each child thanks to a good teacher-to-student ratio. Daily lessons and activities--from storytime and art to music, movement, and outdoor play--keep children engaged, while elective classes and special workshops give them extra chances to explore new skills. Graduation performances and holiday events are thoughtfully planned, letting kids have fun and show their growth and talents. The director is supportive, and the team is full of patience, care, and dedication. I'm proud to be part of it.
