A few nights ago I discovered a crack in the shank of my antique engagement ring. The shank (the…read moreband section of the ring) was replaced three years ago by a jeweler near Franklin. Feeling sickened by the idea of taking my ring someplace for repairs (and worse at the thought of losing it if it broke) i decided to take it to Village Jewelers because it is so close to my office. I dropped it off in the late afternoon and they told me that it would be ready at 3pm the next day. They also told me that repair on the shank would be $25. They did not pressure me into buying anything or having anything else done. I called at 11 the next day and they told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. That was fabulous. When I got there we discovered one of the small pave diamonds had fallen out as it was near the crack. They didn't charge any extra and replaced it in the spot. There was no pressure from the salesman and we had a nice chat about vintage jewelry and other things. As someone who's worked in the jewelry biz before, I can say I was treated well, the repair price was reasonable, the repair and service were excellent and I would gladly go there again. I have since recommended them to other people for repairs.

I had been wearing the ring even though the underside of the setting had worn away and was cutting into my finger. The bracelet was also stabbing me because the clasp had worn down and in order for me to wear it, I had to fashion a different clasp that was more akin to a weapon than anything else. Peter looked over the pieces and was able to give me the price point for both repairs, options for how they could be repaired, and the turnaround time. He was able to finish both jobs sooner than he initially estimated. He also repaired the other side of the ring setting as well as the broken side because he noticed that it was becoming weak as well. He did this as a free addition which, as a grad student living off savings and loans, I appreciate immensely. The shop also has two adorable dogs that can be found roaming around asking for pets and attention or sleeping on the chairs next to the jewelry cases. Everyone I interacted with in the shop were friendly and helpful and made the entire experience a positive one. I highly recommend Peacock Jewelers for anyone needing a piece repaired and - although I didn't purchase one of their items - the pieces they had on display were all gorgeous.
