The team at Kahains did an excellent job installing my new dishwasher. It looks and runs great!…read more It was delivered and installed on time, and they hauled away the old dishwasher and the packing materials and left no mess in the house. It was cheaper than the local box store! They took care to make sure it was leveled properly, and we even tapped in a piece of wood that was crooked from the day I bought the house. Great customer service will probably buy my washer and dryer from them!

The biggest complaint was the couch had a tear in the back. I was lied to several times when told it would be replaced/someone would fix? It's been over a year ago and couch is still torn. I don't know if he saw me in a camera or what, but as I was walking up to the door, he opened it and said in a less than pleasant tone, "can I help you"? I hadn't even entered the store yet. In fact, I hadn't even walked up the walkway. It was clear he wanted to stop me in my tracks. I asked if he was an auction house and he said yes and then I said you buy furniture and jewelry and stuff he said yes, but he still had a pissy attitude said never mind. I went to the next place on my list. Quarter-mile down the road. It was a small place and probably couldn't take some of the bigger pieces at my mom's house. However, the guy, Dan was his name was very friendly and helpful. In fact, he gave me a lead that turned out to be exactly what I needed. I wouldn't even contemplate J James auctioneers.

We chose the Rug Merchant after hearing great things about them and having a couple of estimates…read moredone by Empire etc. and chose to go with them for the vastly broader selection, quality to value, and personal attention to detail they take in taking on jobs. The owners, Hillary and (Steve?) are great to work with. Where most people tend to focus on price as the sole factor for many of their home improvement projects, the olde adage of you get what you pay for often holds true as well. We found a great non-standard carpet that fit our style and needs for a basement finishing job and came out about the same of where we would have going national chain, but the offerings and quality, as well as customer service experience were far superior. They really were able to convey what the differences were in what you were getting, durability and cost, and found a great carpet that wasn't available from a big discounter. Four years out the carpet, and composite flooring we put down in one area still shows like new despite getting regular to heavy use. By comparison, the standard stuff we have through the rest of the house when we moved in started showing its age within a year or two. Will go with them again when we have the rest of the house done...

I absolutely LOVE this adorable antique/vintage store (so much I made a listing for it here!)…read more These ladies have tons of quirky housewares, furniture, and accessories for the vintage obsessed. The gals are fun to chat with while shopping and offer really great prices. This store is a fantastic alternative to the stuffy antique malls that dot the landscape of the South Shore area. The layout is cute and playful. I have purchased a good number of things that fall into all different vintage categories and everything here is always in fantastic shape and/or has a beautiful patina. It is exactly what I have been looking for!
