Took a drive up north to visit Whiteley Ranch for Mandarin Orange picking. The drive is about an hour and forty five minutes from Sacramento but it's a easy drive on 5. There are no signs at the ranch just pull up to the barn and talk to the staff. They will provide buckets and clippers. You get about 3 rows of private picking space so you can hunt down the mandarins you want lol. When you're finished just head back and pay the paltry fee of .35 per pound! Went here on a Saturday and it was such a nice day! We were given buckets and freely got to roam and pick whichever tangerines and however much we want! We were given small hand clippers to cut the tangerines. We picked 12 buckets for $84! Each bucket was about 25-30 pounds; such a good deal! Miguel was awesome! Everyone here was so friendly and welcoming! It was our first time here but we'd definitely come back. Their season ends early February so come by soon before then for some delicious, sweet, juicy tangerines for a great price! read more

Whiteley Ranch - Livestock Feed & Supply Near Me - Corning, California

We've traveled to Whiteley Ranch for a couple of years now to pick Satsuma tangerines. The ranch is open from just after Thanksgiving and well into December. The little orange orbs they grow are absolutely the best we've tasted. This is a great family outing that required good outdoor shoes or boots, a bucket for the tangerines and a pair of hand pruners which are required to pick. The ranch is open daily and farm hands are there to weigh what you pick. We bring large heavy-duty garbage bags to hold what we pick -- up to 100 pounds of the tasty beauties. That's a lot, I know. But we give them at holiday gifts. My sisters were absolutely ecstatic and said they were the best Satsumas they'd eaten. FYI: The 100 pounds we bought last year cost us about $30. You do the math in the store next time. And you find a better way to have a bit of family time that ends with lots of good stuff to eat. To top it off, the ranch owners seem genuinely pleased that we are there and go out of their way to help, even providing a set of pruners and a bucket for those who may not have one. read more
