To be fair, I am not a huge fan of plays, but a friend had two tickets to A Christmas Story and wanted me to go so I did. We ate dinner first and that took longer than expected so we were 15 minutes late. The building itself is very nice, but the lady at the ticket counter was extremely rude and condescending. She pointed out that we were late and said we couldn't sit at our assigned seats until intermission and showed us to the balcony. So we sat in the balcony until intermission and the view was just fine from up there too. I don't know why she thought that was like putting us in "time out". I know these aren't professional actors and it is community theater, but the acting was so bad I couldn't stand to stay past intermission. As we were leaving the lady at the ticket counter gave us the evil eye. We went and had much needed beers. My friend forgot something under her seat and went back to get it. The lady at the ticket counter wouldn't let her go get it, even in the balcony, until the end of the play and was extremely rude again. She acted like it was the most elite play in the world and we were just lowly peons who should consider ourselves lucky to be there. Sorry lady. You are out of touch with reality. It was such an awful play that I could barely make myself stay until intermission. read more
