We have been to this waterpark countless times when we visit my parents in DE. It has been wonderful since my oldest was an infant and now she can go every slide in the park! The lifeguards on all of the slides are wonderful, careful, know the rules and are very nice to the kids and seem to put safety first... the toddler pool area was a different story.
While we can all agree that parents should be watching their children, I should've been paid yesterday for lifeguarding the toddler pool and this is why...
- A little boy was trying to climb up the outside of the little slides on the far side of the pool while kids were trying to go down. I told the lifeguard and her response was, "Oh, he's not allowed to do that" and turned away... Not really a big deal.
- Then my daughter got pushed down the tower slide twice and came down crying, so I guarded the top of the slide and told everyone when it was clear to go down. I also had to ask the same little girl several times to stop lounging at the bottom of the slide when there was a line to come down... Again, not really a big deal.
- The worst was a little boy, probably no older than two came down the little volcano slide and couldn't swim, with no parent there. He literally started drowning and I jumped into the pool to grab him. There was NO adult around, including a lifeguard that was paying attention... This is a very big deal!!!!!
This is a wonderful park, but the lifeguards at the toddler pool area need to not just sit in a chair in the far corner. They need to be more active and there should be at least two as you CANNOT see the whole pool from any one angle. read more
