I checked out the meals people were having and they looked very tempting, typical pub dishes, like burgers and fish and chips etc. I will give them a try next time I'm there :-) This is the only pub in the Southampton airport, very small airport so keep it in mind.

It's a modern, casual place with ample comfortable seating. Ricardo (super awesome human being) took our orders and helped me select mine. He recommended the Herby Chicken and Steak Pie. I went with Steak Pie. My friend ordered a burger with chips. Her food came and about an hour later, I was still waiting. The people who sat down about 30 minutes after me got an apology on the delay of their food (one of the guys ordered the same thing as me) and got their food before me. I had to flag the server (and later manager) down to inquire about my food, which I received a vague answer initially about it being redone and the pie that the man next to me received was indeed his. I honestly don't care who's name is on the pie, I just wanted my food, especially since I ordered way before he did. The manager apologized and dealt with my concern calmly. He made sure my food was delivered personally shortly. Ricardo also followed up and apologized for the situation. Abeit the whole mix up, the Steak Pie was sublime. The upper crust was a smidge overdone for my liking, but the filling was mighty tasty. Even the veggies and mashed potato was tasty all the way through. Wished I had 2 bellies, so I could squeeze every morsel in. Despite the situation, I thoroughly enjoyed my food, Ricardo was amazing, and the manager dealt with the situation cordially--I'd come back.

If you are a traveler you will find all of England contained in this one micro pub. The Butcher's…read moreHook set in premises of a Victorian village butcher's shop All of the cask ales are excellently kept and better value than ANY other pub in Southampton. The young landlord Anthony is a sharp entrepreneur who has converted this once butcher's shop into a warm spot for regulars and visitors of all ages. I say that you will find all of worth in ENGLAND here because of the spectrum of customers across all ages and classes. The gender balance is also refreshing to see with groups of smart, sharp young women meeting and drinking together sans partners. What's Anthony's secret? How did he succeed in making The Butcher's such a successful and welcoming environment? The answer is profoundly simple: no sports screens, no music, no quizzes. Instead the longish tables, because of the shape of the pub, are set in a row so that customers have no choice but to face opposite either their friend or a stranger. So you will meet college professors, students, scientists fraternizing with labourers, shopkeepers , software engineers and artists, all together like a congregation devoted to the superb real ale. People on their own such as myself, come to drink here because the environment literally forces human interaction and conversation. I met good and lasting friends in this pub every night I went. The Butcher's Hook is a conduit for conviviality and warm human relations. It gives myth to the notion that the English are cold, remote or indifferent. On the contrary, if you are a visiting foreigner such as myself, it is a visit to the heart and soul of this Emerald Island. Absolutely worth going out of your way to find. And please mention my name to the attentive staff and/or Anthony so that I can get a pint on the house next time I visit!

With up to 4 cask ales, 6 craft keg lines & an exceptional bottle range, it's one of the best & friendliest places to drink beer in the city. Located in a small converted Victorian butcher's we also serve a quality range of cider wine & soft drinks as well a range of seasonal gin & tonics. What we love most though is the community and the friendly & welcoming atmosphere we have developed. With communal tables it's easy to get chatting to new people. After all what good is the best beer in the world without someone to share it with!
