I can honestly say Cathy Hayes is one of the best marriage and family therapists out there. A…read morecouple of years ago, my fiancée and I were at our lowest point--we had both made mistakes, constantly argued, and were ready to separate and only co-parent. Cathy completely changed the direction of our lives. From the very first session, she made us both feel safe and understood, never taking sides but truly helping us understand and rebuild our relationship. She helped us communicate, heal old wounds, and grow stronger than we ever thought possible. She even worked with us to make counseling affordable during a tough time, which meant so much. We haven't been in therapy for over two years now, but the positive changes she helped us create are still thriving today. Our relationship is better than ever--we're planning our wedding and building a beautiful future for our family. Cathy didn't just help us stay together; she helped us transform into the best version of ourselves as a couple and as parents. We'll always be grateful for her incredible guidance and support.

Unfortunately, my final session left me feeling judged and belittled rather than supported. While discussing my 19-year marriage and my former husband's infidelity, she repeatedly told me she couldn't believe I hadn't realized he was having affairs, while laughing or snickering as she said it. I had told her how unhappy I have been for many many years before this affair. She repeatedly questioned why I stayed in the marriage. I came to therapy in part to understand those choices and experiences, so leaving a session feeling foolish or naïve for them was deeply upsetting. I value honest feedback and expect a therapist to challenge me, but I also expect those conversations to be handled with respect and compassion. I was also uncomfortable with details about other clients' circumstances being shared as examples, even without names. Ultimately, I no longer felt emotionally safe or respected in the therapeutic relationship and decided to find another therapist.

Great therapists, poor management The therapists here are…read moreexcellent (Gina and Darissa specifically), but the management and communication are a real problem. During a crisis, my husband and I asked to see the therapist who had helped us before. We were told she wasn't available, with no real effort made to fit us in. Instead, they offered to book us with someone new, but only after we paid an outstanding balance we never knew existed because we'd never received a bill. This wasn't the first issue. Months earlier, I received an automated message saying all my individual appointments would be canceled unless I resolved a separate billing issue within 24 hours. This was after years as a client, always paying on time, and even patiently waiting while they fixed their own error of double-charging both my insurance and me. For a practice built on care and understanding, the behind-the-scenes treatment of clients shows very little of either.

Alicia said she welcomed feedback. My feedback is that it ended abruptly right when our time was up and left hanging. I would've expected the last session to have been more productive & professional. When I expressed my feedback to her she apologized and said she was under the "impression" that we were going to continue on after the intensive during the 15 minute consultation. That completely threw me for a loop because the only conversation we had regarding the sessions were pricing. After she mentioned that, I was done. I have zero respect for her because I believe it was calculated and manipulative on her end. I believe she left us hanging intentionally so we would feel like we have to continue on with her extremely overpriced and underwhelming practice. If she were truly professional, she would've communicated efficiently and asked my husband and I directly if we were planning on continuing beyond the intensive in our first session, or at least at the beginning of our second/last one. My take away.... unethical and no integrity.

Brainspotting is a kind of therapy that uses eye positioning to process difficult emotions and unresolved traumatic experiences. Alicia was AMAZING. It was my 1st time doing Brainspotting and it felt very vulnerable, even though we were on Zoom. I cried quite a bit as it brought up complicated emotions. Alicia was so warm and patient with me as I got comfortable with this new way of doing therapy. You can tell she really loves her work and helping people. The next thing I really want to try is Ketamine assisted therapy with Alicia. That is a type of therapy you would want to do with someone completely trustworthy- and Alicia would definitely be that person for me. It is very cool that she is trained in so many different kinds of therapy and has KAP on offer. She might have a waitlist- but do yourself a favor and get on it!
