Full service sites. Three nice bathroom/shower combo's although one was out of service while I was there. For size of park, not enough bathrooms. Lines each morning. Nice people in front office, dumpsters conveniently located. Nice little dog park with some turf and a bit of shade. Poop bag dispensers and waste cans conveniently placed. Ground was clean. Everyone I met at dog park was friendly and picked up after their dogs. Facility also has a. Umber of tiny homes for rent on property. Because of traffic, it's a bit of a haul into Sedona, but this is about as close as you can get with full service sites. I'll be back

There are tons of great hikes in this National Forest Service operated recreational area plus a…read morepretty small lake for fishing and a campground. We hiked a loop trail of the Willow trail (#347), the Mint Wash trail (#345) and 351, parking at the Wekuvde picnic area. On a Monday in September we only saw three other people on the trail until we came to Granite Basin Lake where there was one large group and a couple small groups picnicking. The Willow trail is beautiful, traversing gentle up and down areas of pine woodlands with 180 degree views west, north and east and has partial shade. The post monsoon wildflowers were in full bloom. The route back along Mint Wash was also lovely with 5 or 6 creek crossings, boulders, flowers and Granite Mountain views. The is a $5 parking fee for day use, or it is free with an America the Beautiful National Park pass.

She came out and spoke to our group and prayed over us. If we had any questions she wasn't hard to find. They have a little gift shop with some really nice things, more than just items with their name on it. The gift ship also has a nice coffee shop, with different flavored coffees. You can get them hot or iced, very delicious! All in all, I can't wait to come back! Oh yeah, did I mention the food was EXCELLENT!!

There were deer in the area which made it that much more fun especially for the kids. The cabin was very spacious for 4 people. It was better than staying at a hotel by far. There five choices of places to rent from. Some are either 2 or 3 bedrooms. These places are beautiful! We stayed in Gamble Oak which is a two story, three bedroom cabin with a wraparound balcony. There was a fire pit for an evening campfire (supplied with precut wood) and plenty of spots around it to go for a hike or a bike ride. The living room was nice and spacious with large windows so you can soak in plenty of nature. They had plenty of pots, pans, dishes and cups you can use. If you are in need of entertainment, we had both Netflix and Hulu choices along with pretty decent Wifi. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely make a return visit. The only issue was the 3 mile dirt road leading up to the cabins. It can be pretty bumpy for a smaller car. Spruce Mtn rentals are very pet friendly and require a small deposit fee.

This was the horseback riding camp I went to for a few summers as a kid. I see from their website…read morethat they are still very reasonably priced (my parents were far from rich) - although reading their description my memories are of a smaller, more intimate camp. Maybe it is just the condensation of memory or maybe the camp is just bigger now -- but this is what a wrote right before I looked up the camp online. (It's still there!) The camp was co-ed with a cabin for girls and one for boys. The girl's cabin was near some cottonwood stands and a dry creek bed and I think the boys cabin was up near the main ranch house. There was a large meadow between these buildings where the horses and maybe some cattle would graze. We would all eat in the main ranch house together and then play games like ditch 'em on the lawn in front. Other than the meadow and the lawn the environs were all natural desert. We would go on long supervised rides (western) through the desert and learn horsemanship. Strangely, and perhaps because I later had a horse of my own I don't really remember the rides as much as the experiences in and around the cabins and the games both fun and political. The first time I went to the camp I went with my best friend S. We stayed in a room together and resolved one night that this would be the first night we would ever stay up all night long (which is one of those great milestones that all children desire to achieve). About 2am something we thought was a giant moth started swooping around our heads and scared us, especially when we discovered it was a bat. There was a whole community of bats in the rafters of the bunkhouse -- in the eaves of the atrium -- and one had found its way into our quarters. I still feel guilty about what happened next. One of the camp counselors, hearing our shrieks came into the room with a vacuum cleaner and sucked up the bat and then, freaked-out herself, put the vacuum bag in the freezer to kill the poor wayward bat. The dead bat ended up on the fireplace mantle with several other mummified bats people had found on the grounds. But we were kids, alas. The next year I went alone. That year I actually killed a rattlesnake near the camp. I thought it was going to bite me and I hit it with a rock. I feel sorry for this too, but also kind of amazed that I had that opportunity at a camp. The counselors actually showed us how to skin the snake and cooked it so that everyone could have a little taste. I am sure that if parents read this they will wig-out and fear for their children, but I think this is the wrong approach. I feel sorry for kids today because they are protected from everything (well...at least most kids of a class that can get sent to camp in the summer, but as I said too, my parents weren't rich and this camp is very reasonably priced even today). When I think back on my childhood I remember so many near-death moments - skateboarding accidents, being trampled by my horse, almost drowning going down the river, being knocked off my horse by a low hanging branch, having a concrete peeing-boy statue fall on my head, seeing a dead body caught in the debris when the river flooded, killing black widows in the tack room -- but I also had a very sublime and wondrous childhood because it was mixed with that kind of danger and overcoming. From this camp I also won the "golden horseshoe" my second year for being the best rider, as well as winning the 'egg in the spoon' competition. I had my first-ever slow dance with a cute Mexican-American boy with a Shaun Cassidy haircut named Abran Abril (I still remember his name! And that I saw him riding the escalator 2 years later at the "Metrocenter Mall"!) And I think I remember that he was really good with the nunchucks! He could knock a spoon out of your mouth! (More safe stuff at camp!) I had a great scary wonderful scandalous time at this camp. So swallow your fears and send your kids to camp and trust them to get in just enough trouble and danger to want to write a review of the experience 30 years later.

Our decision to send them to this camp was a shot in the dark that turned out to be a great one. They met several new friends and are looking forward to seeing them again next Summer. This camp has specialty camps within the camp that they can sign up for. Their day consisted of structured activities of their choosing that included many team and character building activities. Our daughters wished there was more time in a day so that they could participate in more. Now that they are home, they are doing chores without being asked and singing camp songs! The trained counselors are caring and fun and have made great impressions on our kids. Our kids like the outdoors,new things,and exploring. If your kids are the same, they will enjoy this camp!

But still with super cool and creative design. Maddie was extraordinarily friendly, professional and welcoming. We reserved room #6 which was perfect for my partner and I. Perfectly sized so we could both move around without bumping into one another. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Some rooms (ours was one) come with carports to protect your vehicle from the brutal Arizona sun. Although, it's not so brutal up here (we came in June and the temps definitely beat Phoenix temps). Each room has a lovely little patio area in front where you can enjoy some outdoor time with lovely views of pine trees. It was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Also, if you're up there in summer and can brave the summer temps, it was a nice walk (about 1.5 miles) to Whiskey Row where all the excitement lies. If you like fun, thoughtful decor, this is definitely your spot. I highly recommend staying here.

Yeah, there was a loss of communication on the ability to check in after hours (their office hours end at 5 pm on weekdays and 7 pm on weekends). I ended up staying at a nearby motel, the Sierra Inn, just down the street (see my review of that place). I did return the next day and I got a refund (all but the non-refundable $25). Kaylee was especially kind in helping me get my refund. I hope I get a chance to stay there on the next trip thru Prescott. NOTE - this motel has the shortest office hours of any that I've ever stayed at, but they do have digital keys for the rooms, so you can arrive after office hours and still get in. There was a glitch on the phone number help line, that I'm sure will be rectified promptly. You park in front of your room and the parking is a little tight, so don't bring your Giant 4x4 or RV. So why did I give a motel 5 stars without having stayed there? Well, mostly because of Kaylee at the front desk. She went above and beyond to help me get my money back, and if the rooms are as good as her assistance was, it's worth every star.
