Great snow park for snow sledding, sliding, and tubing. Also there are several hiking trails nearby. It's a much larger parking lot and park than snowbunny. Although it's ~10 minutes further away from government camp than snow bunny, it's likely worth it to go since there are usually fewer people and less crowded. The easiest & most gentle sliding routes are just east of the parking lot (on the right side when facing Mt Hood). Steeper routes with jumps are available as you walk further up the road towards Mt Hood. One of the great things about being retired and having an RV is the ability to travel when and where the urge strikes us. Once in a while, we find a special place. This was such a place. We were traveling in Oregon, and learned from Campendium that the White River West Sno Park allows FREE overnight parking during the warmer months. (A parking fee is charged from Nov 1-April 30). This is a dry camping area, meaning that there are no hook-ups (electricity, water, dump station). But, the sno park has a huge paved parking lot, plenty of ooen sky to recharge our solar panels, easy access from OR-35 (yet it was still quiet overnight), restrooms with vault toilets, access to hiking trails, and views to die for -- specifically of Mt. Hood but also of a completely dark night sky filled with stars and constellations. We shared the lot overnight with four other vehicles; it felt safe. After doing a short hike, I was disappointed to leave. read more

Great place for kids (and adults) for sledding. There is a parking lot that gets snow plowed as well as public bathrooms, which makes this spot very convenient. At the end of March, it wasn't very crowded even on a weekend and there was still enough snow for sledding. During the winter months I've seen it get pretty crowded here, but there's still a lot of space for everyone to do their winter activities. read more

Nice park for any season and many reasons. Snow season fun.... Good sledding and shoeing opps, with plenty of room to spread out. Panoramic views of snow covered Hood and trees, with rushing streams running through the deep snow. Non-snowy fun.... Stroll along the wide open lava field and walk along the multiple small streams. Hike along the ridge with Hood in your view. We wanted to hike an actual trail, but apparently the one we planned isn't accessible without snow, so we just wandered the trees and created our own. The parking lot is huge, plus toilets. We stayed the night in our van here too. It wasn't crowded on an August Saturday night and very quiet. read more

Oh yes oh yes oh yes. I really don't want to review this place because it's a treasure. There aren't too many people here, when other Mount Hood locations are packed. And it's clean and just perfect for a family sledding day. I don't have enough good things to say. It's so clean, so great for sledding (lots of great hills,) and the view of Mt. Hood is just gorgeous. We love White River and you'll pay a lot less here for the day than at Ski Bowl. Check it out if you must, but I'd rather leave it for my family's secret spot! read more

This snow park has no ticket and this is kid friendly. Good for sledding and tubing. This is a dog friendly park. I was disappointed to see there was dog poop at 2 spots and even dog pee at few spots. Well I appreciate that it's open for dogs though and hope that all the dog owners will be super careful and don't spoil it for rest of us. The view of Mt. Hood is spectacular. The restrooms were not clean and there was a good layer of ice inside the toilets too. Overall my kiddo had great fun sledding here and with the stunning view, this spot is a great find. I could see other kids having fun too and few dogs as well. The parking was easily available and it was not overly crowded. One side there is this white river flowing down the mountain. Need to be careful and not try the snow stunts that side. There are many skiers who come down from here. I am glad I found this spot. For the breath taking view, parking space and sledge spots 5*. Huge snow park with lots of parking, there were 2 restrooms. Not sure how clean it is, but it did seem available to use. You can bring your little ones and not be scared they will be ran over by bigger kids. We really enjoyed this park. read more

This is a great place and last year it was so much nicer, but unfortunately there are so many people bringing their dogs and there's dog pee everywhere. We were finally able to find a little spot that was clean for our kids to play in. It would be nice if there was a snow park for dogs so that humans could enjoy white snow. read more
