Expectations are high, and not everyone is the right fit, but those who are here truly thrive. Every year brings new, meaningful programs -- this year a college-level psychology course and hands-on science research like the Oyster Project. Our Headmaster is caring, involved, and deeply loved -- every student's best friend, yet strong, thoughtful, and fair. The teachers are talented, inspiring, and passionate about what they do. The level of enthusiasm across the school is outstanding. What truly sets T-D apart is its spirit of unity. Students of all ages know and support each other -- it's heartwarming to see a first grader call out to a senior by name with a curious question and get a kind smile in return. This sense of belonging and genuine care fills the campus with joy. Thornton-Donovan isn't just a school -- it's a living example of what education should be: knowledge with heart, discipline with kindness, and community that lasts a lifetime. When you are a part of T-D, you are family.

I've worked with a few different people, only because my schedule has been a little tricky, but Huntington has always been flexible and able to find a time and person to work with me. They have saved my neck countless times, whether it be helping me get into Honors English my freshman year, or helping me catch up when I missed work after missing a month of school, or just generally helping me when I needed a little help. The instructors are kind and patient and the staff is friendly and helpful. The covid precautions are taken seriously- all students and staff must have their temperature taken beforehand, wear masks, and there is plexiglass set up between student and teacher (with a slit on the bottom to slide back papers and whatnot). But just overall, my grades are up, I feel good about my academics, and I feel secure and positive leaving the Center, always.

She had Mrs Kelly pat year and I honestly cannot say good enough things about this woman, she was not only a wonderful teacher to my daughter but she sent us photos and videos almost everyday to keep us parents updated with everything going on in class. At dismissal she would always pull me aside to tell me anything that happened with my daughter throughout the day. She would said "it's nothing bad I just thought u would want to know..." she is so kind and nurturing to all the children in her class which was 16:1 with two teachers aids. I don't believe they make teachers like this anymore, she was just beyond wonderful to my daughter and really put my mind at ease knowing she was in good hands with Mrs Kelly! This year for kindergarten my daughter has Mrs Grassi. She is so great as well! She really pushes the kids to be independent and strong minded. She is tough in a sense, she likes things done in a certain way and has high expectations of the children which I like because it keeps my daughter motivated to do more and achieve more. She gives out a good amount of homework & if the child misses a day of school she sends them home the missed class work to be done at the earliest convenience so they don't completely miss out. Mrs Grassi as well as Mrs Kelly also sends us photos and weekly updates/work plans for the kids to our parent portal which I enjoy because I always know what the kids are doing and what to expect in the coming week. So far I've had a very happy experience with this school and these teachers.

It is a k-12 school, and there is no other school that can match to the extent that they go to make sure everyone is happy. Going to the academic side of things, it is still an amazing school. Even though we have both Judaic studies and the "normal" school studies, students at our school get into great colleges. For instance, 2 out of 39 students got into Cornell this year. Schechter is like no other school that I know. They teach us about Israel, and the language of Hebrew. It is a great school, but you can't get the full experience through a yelp review, you can come and try it out!
