We are in the process of a pretty big remodel and was happy to walk through the doors. The receptionist was pleasant, greeted us, and asked how she could help. We told her we were looking for design ideas for tiling our new fireplace. She sent Chanelle to meet us in the tile area. We really enjoyed our time with Utah Design Center. Chanelle showed us some awesome tile and advised we visit DalTile and Esmer for samples. While at the Utah Design Center, we also got excited about lighting because of the various displays about the store. We asked Chanelle about various lighting options. We also asked Chanelle if the Utah Design Center offers general design consultancy. She said yes, they offer by-the-hour consultancy services - very cool! When we got home, we talked about the myriad of options and decided we really do want professional assistance to help establish a cohesive vision across textures, colors, shapes, designs, etc. So, I called the Utah Design Center, spoke with the receptionist, and asked for Chanelle. I left a voice message. A couple days later, I hadn't heard anything, so called again. I spoke with the receptionist, asked for Chanelle, and left a voice message. We never received a return phone call. I don't mind calling a second time when my first call is not returned, but there will not be a third. I have to say, there is no excuse to not return phone calls, let alone two. I mean, isn't this where it all starts? My wife and I were really excited after our visit and, frankly, we were surprised we did not hear back. Thank goodness there are a lot of really good designers in the area. We are working with someone else and are thrilled the direction our project is heading.

At the beginning of our process she asked me to begin collecting pictures of kitchens that appealed to me. True story .... We met on several occasions and I was able to share my vision for our new kitchen but, what I was describing was not matching the pictures I was saving on Pinterest. Rachel carefully shared her thoughts and helped me see that what I wanted was a modern farmhouse. Along the way, she provided us with multiple versions of designs and was always willing to tweak them to make it easier for us to make decisions. Besides designing our kitchen Rachel was involved in all aspects of our project by helping us select flooring materials, paint and cabinet colors, hardware, new fireplace design and lighting fixtures. She took us shopping for backsplash tile and countertops. Rachel responded to questions promptly which helped keep the worries down to a minimum. Remodeling can be quite stressful and she was incredibly understanding and willing to support. Rachel helped me move out of my comfort zone and the results are stunning. We couldn't be more please and highly recommend Rachel to anyone dreaming of a new beautiful kitchen!

I looked back over her reviews and noticed many are from 3 years ago. I'm not sure what has changed in this business, but the owner had little to no customer service. The few calls I made to the shop she often seems harried and agitated. As a consumer, when you are looking at spending thousands and thousands of dollars on a project, questioning what specific fees are included and exploring flooring style and color options is paramount. We wasted 6 weeks waiting for reply's and trying to get more information. We needed to line up a few different contractors to complete the project in phases. Trying to get Woodman to agree to a timeline was nearly impossible. I tried to explain myself and talk through the project further when Karen hung up on me. Needless to say I was shocked. When a company makes you feel bad for inquiring and exploring options, showing outright irritation and impatience with you, it was definitely a red flag. Also, as we visited Intermountain Hardwood and started exploring wood suppliers in the valley we were surprised at how much more reasonable other's prices were compared to Karen's. For instance, she is charging folks $600 per block tread (for each step) versus others charging $200. Many contractors we spoke to were shocked at the mark up. Karen also, constantly calls you honey and when you question the price of something she keeps you on the line by saying "I'm sure we can work something out honey." Very grating and manipulative to be called "honey" over and over again while trying to conduct business. I would not recommend this wood supplier, their communication skills are deplorable and the product is way overpriced!
