The staff is very knowledge about their wines and spirits. One in particular is finding a great belgium beer. They recommended The Bruery Autumn Maple Belgian style beer, which is seasonal. Can a city ever have too many quality package stores? I'll answer that for you, no. I have a favorite across the river in North Augusta and one near all of the major shopping spots, but when I find myself at Surrey Center (or nearby) this is the place I go. Why? Because it will have what you need. Now their focus is on wine, as it is the majority of their selection. But you can walk the walls and find each section (Rum, Brandy, etc.) stocked with mainstays. Around the corner (almost hidden in this tight space) is a wall of coolers for your beer and ice needs. The team here is friendly and can order your favorite spirit if it's not carried. They also offer bartending services, just in case you have a special event coming up. Open 7 days a week, keep the White Horse on your list of places to get "the good stuff". read more

Undoubtedly the best wine store in Augusta. Faulkner, the owner is the most helpful person I have ever encountered in a wine store. I once came back from Chile and told him about a particular wine I liked there. Next time I came , he had it in the store! I've been there many times over the years, I've never felt any weirdness from anyone there. Their pricing is reasonable.

Drive thru and ice cold jaeger from the freezer upon request. The only complaint is they don't keep cigs stocked very well, especially for what they charge for them, so thats an extra trip. Either to the gas station next door, the only place in town where my debit cards never seem to work. Or the Chevron and wait for these idiots buying lotto tickets. read more

If I could leave a lower review, I would. The workers are so rude and have been the three times I've been. They snapped at me about their hours (even though their website/google has it listed differently). I've never left a bad review, but this place is just obnoxious and I want to prevent anyone else from the annoyance of having to go here. The only thing consistent with this place the the rudeness of the staff...despite having decent-ish prices there are numerous liquor and wine stores close by that have not only better prices but significantly nicer workers. These other places include Harbans, Augusta Liquors, and also even Summerville (yes even that place with far worse ratings than this place). I would HIGHLY advise going to one of these other locations due to better pricing and better help. read more

Is it weird to have a favorite liquor store? No? Okay, perfect, because this is our favorite liquor store. This is probably due largely in part to its proximity to our home, as well as being one of very few places that I can find DIET Gosling's ginger beer. That stuff is my jam. I like to come here and browse, looking for new ideas, and get suggestions from the employees, who have never steered me wrong--and also don't try to upsell you to more expensive stuff just because. Also, they keep a nice rotation of beers, not just the same exact things all year round. Everyone here is really friendly and helpful. They remember us when we come in even though we're only there every couple of weeks. I love that! I hope they keep up the good work; we'll keep returning and buying yummy soft drinks... and harder stuff from time to time! read more

TLDR: Small, but great package store in the Summerville area. With two of the bigger package stores over in the Evans area, it's good to have a quicker and closer option for those around Summerville. Located in the Surrey Center, it's much more accessible for a lot of the graduate students who attend Augusta University and live right by campus. Parking is always available right up front. While White Horse Package Store doesn't have the most extensive of selections, they do have a lot of the good stuff when it comes to spirits, wine, and beer. I usually came here for the craft beer and they do have singles available in case you want to make a mixed six pack. Everything is priced competitively, so you don't need to make the trip out to Evans to the bigger package stores if you're going to pay about the same over here. Service is always friendly and helpful here - I can't ever complain about my interactions with staff. Just a good local business that you should support. read more

This store has a wonderful selection considering how small it is. They carry a wide selection of spirits, mixers and beers and can order you a particular bottle if you request it. As with anybody who likes a bottle of the brown stuff, I like to ask their opinions on new and surprising liquors and they have not disappointed us yet. From looking around in the store, this is a place that deals in better quality spirits/wines/beers so don't go in looking for boones farm or old english. that being said the store is small and the selection is limited. They do a good job of trying to rotate in new items and trying to keep their beer selection seasonal. The people here have always been nice and helpful and they really appreciate their repeat customers. If they do not carry something that you want they are also willing to look up the item and see if they can get it and if they can they will quote you a price. Other places may offer you a better selection but if you want customer service this is definitely a package store you want to frequent. read more

Really great local bottle shop! They have a decent selection of craft beer for the area. Not as much as Aficionados downtown but I appreciate that you can buy beers individually rather than in packs. All beer is refrigerated and they have cases of domestics as well as craft beer. They seem to specialize more in wine and they have liquor. The owner was beyond friendly. This is the place for all your spirits. The staff tells me the owner gives them homework! They are knowledgeable, and very capable when it comes to recommending wines and better liquors.
